We adopted our shepherd terrier mix, Buster, back in November at 8 weeks old and were referred to Emily by a close friend who had also recently adopted a pup. We had no idea how mischievous our little guy could be until he started to become more confident! We knew our hands would be full and immediately called Emily. Upon first visit, Emily had our little guy sitting on command! Now our little guy sits, lays down, understands «off», «gives» and much more! Her advise and help has been so valuable, the transition from having a household with no animals to having a puppy has been enjoyable. Emily’s weekend social class is also extremely beneficial as it helped us socialize our dog with other dogs near his age and older in a safe environment. We strongly recommend Emily and look further to additional training in the future!

After a long and exhausting search for a positive reinforcement dog trainer, I found Emily Scott. She was exactly what I was looking for. I had a very energetic labrador who was tough to deal with. On a base level, he was obedient and a people pleaser, he just needed consistency and positive/​humane methods. Emily showed me how to rein him in a positive, non-​aversive manner. She also gave me some training tools and assured me that I was not being overly forceful or inflicting pain on him. I am very happy I chose Emily and am continuing lessons with her! My dog is doing better than ever thanks to Emily Scott and her training program. And I am learning a lot as well!

Emily Scott has been a God-​send to our family in helping us with our chocolate lab/​Australian Shepard mix. The puppy was supposed to be 8 weeks when we got her but was only 6 weeks old (we discovered)! The puppy’s mother didn’t do typical mothering to the pups and so all our puppy knew was to bite bite bite and run around causing destruction in her wake.
Besides addressing how to deal with those issues, Emily put us all on a successful path to harmony in our home! We all are being trained! We definitely recommend Emily to anyone who has any type of dog issue. Not only is she the best behaviorist trainer… She’s the Valleys «dog whisperer». We highly recommend her!

Emily to the rescue!
We have a 1 year-​old mini pin/​cocker spaniel mix who we adore. Her cuteness allowed her to get away with a lot over the last 10 months. About a month ago, we had the front door open and she darted out into the street (was thankfully ok) but it gave us a wake up call and we immediately began researching trainers.
Being new to the Fresno area, I contacted Elaine’s Pet Resort to see if they could recommend anyone to me. Without hesitation, Emily’s was suggested. She’s met with us 4 times now and WOW, what a difference. We are amazed at the improvements our dog has made in such a short time.
During the initial visit, she evaluated our dog (and what we were doing wrong). I was impressed at how quickly she was able to identify the problems (our dogs impulsive behavior, not coming when called, and pretty much running the show). The last 3 sessions, we’ve worked on 4 – 5 techniques, so it’s not too overwhelming for the dog and for us. We spend the following days practicing the techniques on our own with our dog each day for about 20 – 30 minutes. Our training sessions are really hands on (unlike other trainers we’ve had in the past who do everything and don’t teach you how to do anything once they leave), her interaction is just perfect. She sets you up with all that you need to succeed.
The transformation has been unbelievable and I look forward to seeing the continued progress throughout our training sessions. THANK YOU Emily!

We have a one year old multipoo rescue (Emmy) that has high anxiety, was afraid of everyone, and was aggressive when frightened. Emily worked with her and us once a week for 5 weeks. and we are all making great progress. Our dog is happier and more relaxed. She is starting to enjoy meeting new people. We can take her on walks and outings, and she is learning to remain relaxed and calm around people. She is a happier dog now. Emily’s training advice has helped us understand our dogs needs and fears. We are all still a work in progress, but with a little more time I am confident our dog will be well socialized. I highly recommend Emily for any obedience issues you may have with your dog. The best thing for my family was that Emily used techniques that were all positive. There was no scolding, no chock collars, no punishment to the dog. It was a completely positive and rewarding experience for our dog Emmy.

We just completed a 7 week puppy course for our Standard Poodle puppy, Cassie. Cassie loved her training sessions with Emily and we did too! Emily is excellent in her profession and trained us right along with Cassie so we will be able to reinforce the proper behaviors as she grows. In several months we plan to sign up for further training with Emily so Cassie will be the very best dog she can be. We feel so fortunate to have worked with Emily and highly recommend her. For first time puppy owners I would even recommend having Emily start a puppy training program the day your puppy comes to live with you.

Emily is the best of the best! We were having major control problems with Abby, our Mini Australian Shepherd (actually Abby was controlling us, not the other way around) and Emily showed us how to take the lead, turning what could have become a bad, obnoxious dog that kept our friends and family away from the house, into an obedient dog and a friendly part of our family. Our kids and grand kids can visit us now without worry. We take Abby on long walks now whereas before Abby would take us on walks. If you are thinking about hiring a dog trainer for whatever purpose, then Emily is the one for you and your dog. Truly a miracle worker.

Emily is the true dog whisperer. I have never seen more compassion or dedication to ensuring a truly special bond with your dog. I have so much faith in Emily, I wish I could hire her on as my own personal dog trainer everyday. I noticed changes in my dogs behavior within one session and most importantly my dogs are happy. She is one of the most knowledgeable people I know and truly loves her craft. She is absolutely amazing.

Emily has helped our family so much! Our Golden Retriever was having problems with leash aggression and I found myself leaving him at home more and more so I didn’t have to deal with the problem. Once I contacted Emily she quickly analyzed the problem and explained how we’d fix it. In the last month I’ve gone so many places with my dog that I thought I’d never be able to take him. By the way… my dog’s 12 – so don’t give up even if your dog’s older. Emily gave me the confidence to change my dog’s behavior and was encouraging and knowledgeable! I can’t recommend her enough!

We are so grateful for the training Emily Scott is doing with our German Shepard pup Buster. He was about 12 weeks old when she started with us to train Buster. This is our first time to ever have help training one of our dogs. Emily in my estimation in like a Dog Whisper! She is great with uneducated owners like us as well. We have learned so much and Emily is giving us the confidence to know that Buster will be truly socialized and that we are in control. So I highly recommend Emily for helping in the training of your new puppies.
As she told us the early the better and all the training she has done will have even more benefits in the future as Buster matures.

We adopt dogs with physical disabilities, which more often than not manifest into emotional dysfunction. Our latest crew of five did not get along — that is until we hired Emily to help train them (and especially US!). At the first meeting, she diagnosed many of their problems just by observation — problems we would never have been able to see. She has given us a system for dealing with each of them. And it works! Our dogs love her so much that they LOVE being ‘trained.’ We are still a work in progress, but cannot thank Emily enough for all of her training techniques so far!
