All American Smog

I’ve been here twice now with quick service and no problems. The prices seem reasonable and the waiting area is kept at a comfortable temperature. The complimentary beverage in the fridge is a plus. The owner is personable and explains things thoroughly.

I’ve been taking all my vehicles for smog certs to Allen for 10 years. He is a honest guy that always tells it like it is. First come first served he does not take appointments. This is the best one man show in Clovis.

In and out in 25 minutes with friendly service and a discount for being a first time customer. Couldn’t ask for anything more, and you won’t get that kind of service at a chain smog shop.

Not Recommended! Told me that my car didn’t pass… That was not the problem. The problem was the fact that after I paid, he told me the reason why my car failed was because the computer needed to be reset. He asked a few questions and I told him that the battery had recently died, so I charged it. He said, «Oh, you should have driven it around more»
He said that I still needed to pay a retest fee and that I could come back the next day. He also told me he was open the same hours… came back the next day, and he told me, «Sorry, I’m closed in a ½ hour.
Took the vehicle elsewhere; passed first time, and the fee/​certificate was less than All American’s retest fee.

Took my car to get smogged and the owner said it’ll be ready at a given time. 45 minutes past the promised time my car still sitting in parking lot. No explanation nor apology. He said there were a couple of other places down the road and left it at that.

Five stars… and this coming from someone who’s car didn’t pass smog.
Allen’s taken care of our smog certs for years and has always been fair and honest. He’s NOT a smog repair facility, but his testing is fast and accurate. Also, what other shop in town keeps a fridge stocked with soft drinks and bottled waters for the clients? On top of that, a whole library of CURRENT magazines ranging from tabloids to car magazines. It’s these little things that let you know they care.
Recently, I took in a car I was getting ready to sell, and not only did it not pass smog, but the radiator blew on the rack. Allen was very apologetic and told me that when I get the car smog-​repaired to bring it back in and he’d do the cert for $ 8.00. Well… $ 650 later at the shop across the street (another Unilocal review on that hell-​hole soon), I sold the car to a nice family who understood the smog issue. As a courtesy to them, I called All American Smog and asked Allen that even though I had sold the car, would he still honor the $ 8.00 cert. He said «Of course!»
As small as these things may seem, they’re huge because true customer service, honesty and integrity seem to be lost arts these days. All American Smog will continue to have my business, and I recommend them to anyone needing an honest smog cert.

I don’t write reviews, but was compelled to write this first one. I am a 6-​year Navy veteran. My car battery died in their parking lot. My 67-​year-​old mother was in need of a restroom really bad. Emergency bad. She asked someone working there if she could use the bathroom and they said NO! I was able to get a jump-​start from the tow truck guy I called, but it was too late for my poor mother. She ended up going number 2 in her pants. ALL AMERICAN my ASS!!! You don’t treat people like that.

Make an appointment because he is the best and get busy fast

Allan at All American Smog is the greatest. He is a one man show that does test Smog only. He is fair, up front and honest. He provides a drink for customers waiting, has ton’s of magazines, is right across from Sandy’s Country Junction if you have to wait and across the Cigar shop if you are shopping for a guys gift. His prices are fair, but above all he is up front with you on costs.
