Good food and friendly people, but don’t seem to know what they are doing. Maybe they were understaffed, but it took a long time to get lunch for the four of us. There was a big sign on the counter saying Chili by bowl or cup, so I ordered a cup. They didn’t tell me they were out until they delivered the sandwiches for all of us. Then the sandwich they brought over was missing the cheese. It was still on the counter, they forgot to put it on the sandwich. Maybe with time they will get the hang of taking food orders, making sandwiches and providing service.

Stopped in on our way thru town, looking for a quick lunch. Deli sandwiches are good, service is friendly but it took quite a long time to get served, so not the place to go for a quick bite, better for a leisurely lunch.

This place was wonderful and open on Sunday to boot! We were on our way out from Eureka and stopped in cloverdale. The place was cute and clean. The ladies helped us order our lunch with no problems. They were very polite and the sandwiches were handcrafted! They were huge and delicious. My boyfriend and I couldn’t have been any happier with our choices. The staff is friendly and food was on point with no extended wait time at all. We would go back again no problem.

Quaint looking on the outside. We walked in. No hellos. Didn’t know how to order. Except for the sign that said order here. So I stood there to order. After a few minutes the girl came up didn’t say hello or hi. I said I am ready to order. She looked at me and then said you need to fill it the forms and walked away. I was like really.. what I wanted to order. Was there special that was not even listed. We wrote it in. No place to put no mayo. I went to the cooler to get a drink. I found out 15 minutes later that they had fountain drinks. It was one girl behind the counter that was rude. Only to the females. … what’s that about? ??? Food smells good. Smells greasy but good. Still waiting. Been 15 minutes so far Food was first brought out to someone else, then the owner brought it back out to us. The owner is the only nice person there. So the sandwiches. Let’s Just say nothing to write home about. The fries looked and tasted like they were refried. The best part was that it was over and we left

Wish I could give this place 5 stars but when they can only get your order right half the time you go there it makes it hard to do that! Great food when they can get your order right! Their prices do suck though.

Stopped while traveling, found this deli on Unilocal… sandwiches were very good though a bit more than I’m accustomed to paying… still, I’d stop there again.

Wow, what a horrible experience. I hopped in to get a quick lunch with a few friends. The place was medium busy and it took them with 4 cooks working an hour to cook 5 egg sandwiches. On top of that they were rude and the damn things cost twice as much as I think they are worth. AVOIDTHISPLACE!

We stopped by on our way south and they were just closing. The women who worked there were all very nice and offered to stay open after closing to make us sandwiches. Sandwiches were great and service was quick. Would definitely go back.

Hands down one of the finest delis around — and best of all, they really live up to their name! I used to always get the French dip but have moved on to their B.E.L.T. sammich. And worth driving even a hundred miles for, their St. Patricks Day corned beef and cabbage — it is amazing! All in all, very affordable & excellent quality of ingredients with fast and kindly service. What are you waiting for? :-)

Ok, we stopped at this deli today on the way back from Russian river. The place was empty and thought we would grab some sandwiches. I pulled the place up on Unilocal while my wife went in to order. I was laughing at the review about 2 ladies, rude, no brain when my wife came out. Here is her story: So I go into the deli and ask about the sandwiches. What sizes and meat options, lady was rude, walked away in the middle if the conversation. Wife, in shock sees a paper on bar and took one to see what was available. The lady was behind the bar and my wife asked her about the stuff on the list. The lady seemed upset about the questions like«what type if bread» and«can you mix the meats» apparently you can NOT mix meats. Not sure why a place that calls it self a deli would be upset about question about deli food. So now my wife fills the paper out, hands it to one of the two ladies, remember, 2:30 in the afternoon, no other customers, who grudgingly takes it. So she waits, and while waiting, reads the paper order form and realizes that you have to mark things like mustard, mayo etc. As you may guess, it did go well trying to correct this. My wife, already not happy with the horrible attitude, calls out to the old blonde that she just realized she needed to mark the condiments. The lady neither turned nor responded. The old blonde walked by 2 or 3 times, and the younger lady came out and said she heard my wife and did she want to adjust the order. So, laughing, I tell her about the reviews on Unilocal and she doesn’t see the humor. She is quite angry at being treated do rude. It’s not a deli, it’s a wanna be pub. The prices are what you would expect from a full service, by that I mean, good service, café. You pay for it, but you get rude, can’t bother with you, service. Funny thing us, the sandwiches did taste good. If there was a semblance of desire to please the customer, we would come back weekly, have a beer and burger. Maybe take some of our friend or clients here as it’s a convenient place. But yeah, why pay good money to be treated like crap, we can get the for free. If they read this, just know that weekly 20 – 40 doesn’t seem like much, but that’s $ 100 – 200 a month, more if we bring clients, who could bring others, so yeah you just lost a couple thousand dollars a year or more if you count people that read Unilocal and word of mouth. All this cause the staff couldnt be bothered to explain the menu and order procedure to new customer at 2:30 in the afternoon, no other customers.

Order got lost. Waited over 35 minutes before we found out. Then turkey burger was raw in the middle & one order of sweet potato fries was missing. Staff was not friendly.

Order two sandwiches at the counter, both of which had fatal ingredients flaws when we opened them to eat an hour later down the road. If you don’t want«pot luck» I recommend you either watch them every step of the sandwich build to correct mistakes, or unwrap and check the sandwich before you leave the premises. Our sandwiches only vaguely resembled what we ordered. yeessh.

I work in Cloverdale and have driven past this place many times. I was looking forward to a good burger. After a 35+ minute wait for my mushroom burger, i discovered a long strand of hair between the buns. I shrugged and ate the burger not wanting to make a big deal out of it all. They were busy. For a mediocre burger, fries and a small soda it was 14 bucks. I went to the bathroom, the toilet was a foot away from a wall. My knees were up against the wall. Which was actually pretty funny. That said, Never again. Never again. Pick’s Drive in has better burgers and is more awesome.

We were heading up to Mendocino for a belated Wedding Anniversary getaway and stopped in Cloverdale for lunch. This close to the wine country, there HAD to be a semi-nice place to eat. Drove up and down the main drag twice and all we could find open was the Eagles Nest deli. We were also anxious to get our wine on and were hoping for a nice something by-the-glass too. We had high hopes when we entered since there was a beautiful wood-carved bar on the right as you step through the door. But no such luck. It was a kind of lunch counter where you could wait for your food(to go) or pay for your food at the cash register. We were not greeted at all and given no instruction on how to order food. I spied an «Order Here» sign and saw a cup of pencils along with small order forms. We filled them out the best we could: choose your bread, meat, cheese, condiments, etc. and then asked a woman behind the counter what we were supposed to do with them. She relplied«I’ll take them right here» without another word or a smile. For $ 10.95 I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich — grilled as frozen from a bag — OK maybe defrosted first — with fake grill marks, microwaved. It was surprisingly juicy but not what I expect when ordering«grilled» chicken. It came with lettuce, tomatoes, mayo and mustard. I opted for a sour roll that was quite fresh however. It also came with a massive amount of french fries that I did not eat(mainly because I was saving my carb allotment for dinner) but they smelled like the frying oil needed changing. As usual, my husband was the luckier diner. He ordered a Reuben sandwich $ 8.95 that came with mustard instead of 1000 island dressing, lean pastrami, Swiss cheese & sauerkraut. He said it was delicious. We both got bottled drinks from the fridge. Eagles Nest seems to be a locals place, which is good because it seems like the only place in town to eat. There is a nice patio area outside but it was so hot the day we went, the last thing we wanted to do was sit outside. It was nice in a pinch but we most likely will not return.

Waited over 35 minutes for 2 burgers. 3 people who ordered after us received their food before us. When we asked if our order was still coming, we were assured it was and that the bacon was what was taking so long. The funny thing is: nothing we ordered involved bacon. Definitely not worth the: Rude Waitstaff Over 35 minute wait $ 13 for a mediocre hamburger and okay fries Save yourself time and money and just have lunch somewhere else!

While revamping a rental in Cloverdale, there is not a lot of variety when it comes to restaurants here. And as a chef we are considered foodies. If we have to pay for food, we want it to be good. Anyways we’ve passed this place a number of times on our way to grab coffee and a Danish from Plank. Eagles Nest is kinda hidden on the main drag behind some trees and the new Art Deco on the sidewalk. As you walk inside the well built screen door, you can see at onetime this was a bar. Back in the day, there was way better craftsmanship. It’s now turned into a small help yourself and short order café. There are a small amount of tables on the left side but you can choose to sit at the bar. There are large beverage coolers towards the back and a deli case near the front. I’m a huge meatloaf fan and asked to try a small piece before getting the sandwich. They cut more than expected for a sample, and heated it up. Unfortunately the meatloaf lacks flavor. Plain ground beef topped with ketchup and baked. But I’m sure if you add some good ingredients to it, this would fly out the door and not into the trash. To order you must fill out a paper which has everything categorized by bread, meat, cheeses, accoutrements and sides. It’s pretty self explanatory, and just FYI, this is there ticket system. I suggest if there busy, write the time down on the bottom to help them stay aware of ticket times. We put in a Togo order… My girl order a smoked turkey on rye with smoked cheddar, and sprouts. And of course lettuce, tomato and mayo. I ordered a smoked turkey(although i would of loved the oven roasted turkey which they were out of). with smoked cheddar, cranberry sauce and sprouts. They wrapped them up and slid them in a bag. They had a small bowl of fruit salad in the cooler, the fruit did look a bit oxidized, from sitting in the cooler from a couple of days. But if put into a smaller bowl and tossed with some chiffinod of mint, would of been beautiful. At any case I ordered a small portion of the fruit. We liked that there was a variety of mixed fruit which helped us order it. We talked to the young girl behind the counter as she made our sandwiches. She was engaging and nice, telling us that on certain days they run out of things. Today was the oven roasted turkey. BUMMER ! The price tag was $ 21.00 not too bad, but we haven’t taken a bite yet. We shuffled off to the car and off we went. As I pulled out our sandwiches, my girls sandwich was huge, the soft rye bread loaded with fresh smoked turkey, and everything she requested. I couldn’t wait to see mine. As I unrolled mine, I could smell the aromas of turkey and cranberry, and it delivered. We gobbled these amazing sandwiches like there was no tomorrow. The fruit was a nice refresher and tasted good following the mondo sandwiches. As you drive into town from the north, you can see there is a pole with a eagles nest high above. We wondered if this is how you came up with the name. If not, is no big deal. We’re just here to tell you, we really enjoyed your sandwiches and we will be back.
