We have passed this place many times on our way to Tillamook. My ex doesnt like artichokes so he wasnt ever compelled to stop. But we LOVE them. So we stopped. They have produce, gifty stuff, snacky stuff, and cold beverages in a cooler. The worker bees were friendly and hippiesh. We were here for the namesakes. No, not bears, silly. Artichokes! They had baby ones, purple Italian ones, and the mid sized ones like we got. They were 2/$ 5. I liked that the leaves looked nice and tight and they werent too beaten up. Promising. We also purchased some honey sticks. They were at the register calling Princess’ name. 25 cents. We went home and had two of the artichokes steamed last night for dinner with garlic butter. They were really fresh. Yum. Princess was super happy. Theyre her fav veggie. We will have the other two tonight with a vinaigrette and salad. Worth stopping.

Stopped here on our way back to Lincoln City from Tillamook because they advertised fresh oysters. When we went in the oysters they had were two weeks old. So we passed. Bummer. Although they have a really nice gift shop that has a nice assortment of pepper jellies and gifts. The fruit we stopped for was really expensive and they had no berries or cherries, so we left empty handed. I liked their wind chimes they had out front if only I was home long enough to enjoy it I would of bought one.

A couple of years ago(has it been that long?) we drove our summer vacation from the Texas Panhandle across the Southwest to California, then up the West Coast to Portland before turning back east and south toward home. It was one of those«nothing will ever be the same after this» trips — 5 months later we’d bought a house on the Oregon Coast and left the dust behind. And this little garden and shop on the side of Hwy 101 helped make up our minds because the people were so friendly — and the garden was a roll-your-socks-down splash of greenery, flowers, and fruits/veg that I’d never seen the likes of. I didn’t really have a clear recollection where this place was until we happened on it again yesterday! For whatever reason, most of the lush garden was just turned earth this time around — though we’re about 3 weeks earlier this year, so maybe that’s enough to make the difference. Everything about this place is cute, welcoming, and friendly — from the people inside, to everybody stopped for a treat. The building is open to the elements, and a little on the gray and rickety side– but that’s part of the charm. Inside, you can find all kinds of Made-in-Oregon goodies, plus a kitchen that’s turning out apple dumplings, scones, and other yummy baked goods. Their cold case is stocked with drinks, and their counters and shelves feature lots of homemade and home grown – And husband found an ice cream case — always a treat. They don’t have a public rest room — so be forewarned that you’ll have to keep driving unless you want to trek cross – garden to the outhouse.(really) But otherwise — a great roadside stop on Hwy 101 between Lincoln City and Tillamook!
