Independent Baptist Church & Academy

I went to this church for over 10 yrs and graduated from the school. It’s not perfect but no place is! The spirit is great and the staff is wonderful. The people are always willing to help and it is like a big family. Pastor Creed is a faithful pastor and strives to do his best for the Lord and for his congregation. I appreciated this about him.
I love going back and seeing everybody and visiting with friends and family. A great church in the suburbs of Washington DC… trying to help the community and reach people for Christ. They also have an RU program that helps those with addictions, a great ministry!

I went to this school to see if it would be a good fit for my daughter. From the outside looking in everything appeared to be standard and I was excited to visit and talk with the staff. FYI, independent Baptist is a mixed congrats on of white and black congregants, I think originally it was an all white church, not that it matters, but I am suppose to provide you with all the details. So everything seemed ok and we met with one of the school superintendents and older Caucasian gentleman and then this is when things went south. He ask my wife and if we were Christians, we replied yes. We told him our denomination and that we were active in our home church. He then went on to tell us that the only way our daughter could enroll is if we also became members of the church. I started to laugh, this was like something straight out of the Jim Jones story. I told the guy we could end the conversation right there and we departed. I think that when you start to do things like this, it’s at the risk of coming off as a cult or some other controlling weirdo church group. No thanks!
