Johnny’s Ham King II

You know, I’ve driven past this place a million times and laughed at the name of the place and the way the place looks. It looks like it used to be a donut shop or something. There’s just swivel stools along a long counter and not much else. I finally got bored enough with heckling the place and went in.
I was pleasantly surprised. I’ve said it a few other places; I’m wary of restaurants that boast in their names, but I’ll let it slide with Johnny’s. If they’re going to call themselves the king of hams, then they better have some pretty damn good ham.
And they do. The hot ham sandwich is as good as any other place I’ve been to around Detroit. It was really cheap, cheaper than any place else I can remember going to and ordering the same thing.
Talk about solitude. I was the only person in the place until five minutes before I left. If you’re into that kind of quiet, then this would be the only place in town THAT quiet. I’ve been all around it, and those other places at least have customers from time to time. Then again, it could’ve been that I beat the rush, but I wouldn’t know. i haven’t been back yet!
Honestly, they do some good ham here. If you’re into the other white meat, then give Johnny’s a shot!
