The Salvation Army

This is probably the most organized Salvation Army I have ever been too. They actually keep things arranged by size and color better than just a bunch of random clothes the same color stuck together like at most locations. They have a ton of things besides clothes furniture, books, knick knacks. This place is also huge. It may not look it from the outside, but its gigantic. It kinda smells musty in this place though the only draw back I have found.

I really like this store for the fantastic gems that I find and the selection is always plentiful. It’s really an all around good thrift store, but I’ve had some interactions that really bump it from a potential 4 to a 3.
Keep in mind, I try my best not to be skeeved out when someone cat calls – if you show no reaction, then the point of the cat call in the first place is entirely ruined and they let it go. It just happens SO MUCH in this parking lot! I always bring a friend with me for less approachability, since we’ll be deep in conversation. On that note, the parking lot is nutso and a little scary itself. I’m only really comfortable once inside the store… until I was trying on some garb and a man peeked over the top of the dressing room door. NOT OK. Granted, it was just to throw a button down over my tshirt and try a couple of jackets on, but I needed the mirror! I don’t really try on much anymore and if I do, I have someone guard the door to avoid any mishaps.
The new arrangement is definitely… new. I’m still getting used to it and I’m not sure if I like it. I found it a bit difficult to navigate the place. It’s an improvement upon the cleanliness and organization (to an extent), though.
Furniture seems to be priced pretty high for being used, so when we were in the market for some, we didn’t choose to purchase here.
Overall, I know I’ll be back, but I also know what I’m getting myself into after MANY visits and much experience.

This thrift store is an absolute hidden gem on Cleveland’s near east side. I’m a fan of the thrift and I’m a fan of the bargain, this thrift store provides both!
Upon entering the store, you have two choices, you can go right and check out the furniture (their selection is slim) or you can go left and enter the thrift store section. I generally pick the door on the left.
I was surprised when I first went in there that it wasn’t overcrowded with hipsters and the like, it seems to fall off their radar. Maybe it being just east of CSU or close to E. 55^th make it a no man’s land for the hipsters that so take over other areas of town.
I’ve always been able to find amazing finds here, you may have to really dig, but it’s totally worth it. Some of my most recent scores have been a vintage Gucci bag that I picked up for $ 5, a vintage Yves Saint Laurent blouse for $ 3, which looks absolutely fabulous with a high waist pencil skirt, and an awesomely cuddly drape cardigan for $ 7.
I’ve never walked out of there with what I thought was a bad purchase! The prices are fair, their merchandise is fairly well sorted and the store is kept relatively clean. All of the sales people I’ve encountered are extremely nice and very helpful.
Overall, I absolutely love this thrift store and make it a point to stop in there at least every couple weeks or so as they routinely swap out their merchandise!
