Radisson Hotel Cleveland-Gateway

Stayed here while visiting for a Cavs game. Proximity to the Arena couldn’t be better. That’s about the only good thing I experienced while here.
After checking in, we went up to our room only to discover the key didn’t work. Turns out they had written the wrong room number down. No apologies. Annoying, but whatever. We got to our King Suite to drop off our bags and I was disappointed to find the entire room quite dated and lacking the quality you’d expect aligned with a higher priced downtown hotel. Dim lighting, dingy/​beat up doors, uncomfortable furniture… The main lobby and general areas seem to have been remodeled but our room needed a hefty update.
We were splitting our room with friends and needed to use the sofa bed. We found someone’s ID left in the seat cushions (when’s the last time this thing had been cleaned?). The bed itself was actual torture. The mattress was so worn and thin I could feel every coil poking into me and I slept terribly. The blankets and pillows they provided were awful as well, more like a throw you’d have draped over a chair than a blanket for sleeping. I woke up with a terrible backache that has dedicatedly stuck with me for 12 hours now. Joys!
In the morning, one of my friends discovered the water from the shower was full of brown sediment — needless to say, I didn’t opt to experience that for myself.
The valet was slammed (Sunday, 11am, everyone’s checking out… duh…) and a large crowd was annoyed while waiting on their vehicles. No sense of urgency from the valets and again, no apologies or pleasant service attitudes from anyone. Our friends waited on their vehicle for close to an hour when they realized it had just been forgotten and the valet still hung around expecting a tip.
I won’t be choosing to stay here again.

I’ve come to this hotel 2 times before January 2015 for CAVS vs Trail Blazers, Easter day 2015 for CAVS vs BULLS, and now Oct 30,2015 for CAVS vs Heat and last time there was an issue with the wifi that could not be resolved (poor or no connection) even though they connected me with tech support. This time the same wifi issue is still here and there is also a very loud sound that sounds like a grinding train that goes every few minutes all day and night long. My wife and I got no rest. Even though the hotel is steps from the Q and the staff is great the wifi issues and the crazy loud noises make this our last time we will stay here. I was in room 315 and feel free to ask anyone else who stayed on that floor about the noise and wifi problems. I made a recording of the noise (its that bad). I can no longer recommend this hotel. The only thing nice about this hotel is, it is close to the Q. So. it is very high priced. Our room had no microwave, no frig. The breakfasts were 16 $.said it was buffet. well it was eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes. The staff at the desk were rude and made you feel as if you were a bother. They had a thermos of coffee downstairs and when it was gone. that was it for the day. We spent over 200.00 a night. never again.

Located right across the street from the Quicken Loans Arena, this Radisson seems pretty centrally-​located. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is about a 20 minute walk, but the West Side Market is not really walking distance.
Everything seems clean for the most part, except the carpet, which looks dingy. There’s no pool but there is a small fitness center, complimentary coffee in the lobby in the mornings (that isn’t bad), room service (which I didn’t use because I’m not sure how good that really would be). There’s valet parking for $ 16, or you can save a few bucks and park in the lot next door for $ 10 overnight.
The area gets pretty deserted at night so I’m not sure how safe it is, especially since we only went to restaurants within a two-​block radius.
Checkout is pretty early — at 11, so this hotel really is just a place to stop and sleep.

Just recently came to Chicago to see Garth Brooks, and the hotel was really nice. Staff was friendly and they even played garth Brooks over their sound system. If you stay in room 223, it is next to the work out center. There was someone running on the treadmill this morning around 6am and it shakes the bed in this room, as well as the mirror on the wall. Just be warned and don’t freak out like I was!

Room is clean, bathrooms small, close to all major sports stadiums. Internet is spotty at best.

Visited Cleveland for an Indians game at Progressive Field and chose the Radisson for its close location… exactly one block from the left field gate. We scheduled this trip back in June and by August the RNC had decided to have its first debate in Cleveland at the Quicken Loans Center… essentially right next door. Even with the debate crowd, the Radisson honored our reservations and we stayed right in the midst of a ton of suits and security… all the TV and cable canopies were 200 feet down the street and there was no traffic on the street because it was blocked off… fun time.
As to the hotel… it was ok, not great and not terrible… and I had a bit of trouble rating this one. Rooms were not large but just enough and really what you’d come to expect at the Radissons. Everything was clean, the AC worked well, we eventually got the WIFI to work, all in all a basic but suitable stay. The only complaint and this is a big one is we never got housekeeping in the room. We were only here for two nights but never saw anyone from housekeeping. Maybe they got slammed with the sellout from the debate… I don’t know but our room never got the beds made, the bathroom cleaned up, nor fresh towels and bathroom amenities.
When we made the reservation we chose the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame package (two tickets to the Hall of Fame). free valet parking, and two free breakfasts at the hotel’s Gateway Bar and Grill breakfast buffet. We used all the stuff. The Hall of Fame was a ball — saved us $ 44…the parking was a nice freebie, and the breakfast brunch was also very nice… saved us $ 26. All in all a nice enough stay… three stars because of the housekeeping glitch (PS: the Indians won). We would stay again.

I usually do not write reviews, but this hotel experience was horrible. I got the Executive suite on a one night business stay and there was no internet access! When I told the front desk, they said they would «tell maintenance» — nothing happened. Periodically when I would call or go visit the front desk, there was nobody there or I would have to wait 5 – 10 mins for someone to show up. This was one of the worst hotel experiences in recent memory — do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs.

Room was adequate but avoid the gateway restaurant in lobby breakfast buffet had old food on every single «clean» plate, expected more from a 14 dollar breakfast buffet.

Kinda surprised with the bad reviews. The front desk agents are kinda rude and they do not great their members as platinum, gold, etc. But the rooms were pretty nice with the sleep number beds. The room was clean. pretty basic but close to everything downtown. Usually under $ 150 but I always use points.

Came into town for the Cleveland Cavs game. The location was spot on. Quicken Loans Arena was right across the street. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean. The bathroom was way to small for my taste and the bed was not comfortable. It made my neck and back stiff upon awakening. The stay was not stellar but not horrible. Would try another hotel next time.

Just visited this hotel for the first time. Not impressed. The only positive is location. First impression of front desk was negative. Woman was not friendly and didn’t even look me in the eye when I spoke to her. She told me our room had double beds. I had requested a king through a third party site and have never had an issue getting what I requested. They informed me this was just a request and was not a certainty. She «apologized» but did not seem sincere at all. I understand things can happen but did not feel valued by their staff. Elevator was dirty and had food all over the floor. Room had stained comforters. Will not be returning. Room issues and cleanliness can be over looked if customer service is there… Unfortunately it wasn’t. Customer service goes a long way.

I stayed at this hotel last year for a conference. The location was convenient, but the service was absolutely terrible. The mini-​fridge (that I requested and pre-​paid for) and some other amenities (like sufficient clean towels) were missing from the room, so I ad to call the front desk more than once to get them to fix the problem. Whenever I called, the front desk picked up with a «Hello Mr. P!» The room was in MY name, which is definitely not gender-​ambigous. Apparently, this hotel’s staff is incapable of understanding that a woman can book a hotel with her own credit card!
This lovely misogynistic behavior continued throughout my stay. When I checked out, the front desk clerk handed MY credit card back to my husband and said «Have a good day, sir!» I complained to management, who apologized for «getting my name wrong.» Clearly, their management team needs to work on their reading comprehension skills and they were unconcerned with their staff’s blatantly sexist behavior towards a paying female guest. No worries. The next time I’ll take my business elsewhere.

This is a nice location in the downtown area. Plenty of bars nearby and the Quicken Loan area is right across the street for you Cav fans. The size of rooms is nice with a comfy King bed and work/​relax friendly area, although the desk was placed backwards in the room lol. Unfortunately, the elevator cleaner they use is extremely toxic smelling and slippery (I was light headed, the smell is unbearable and I nearly twisted my ankle stepping in the elevator). My comforter had stains on upon arriving and my towels were ragged and had holes and the staff is nice and the service is mediocre. the restaurant however has great room service. No amenities like a pool, just conference rooms, a table with a printer, and a room with some elliptical machines. Other than that, I give it two and a half stars.

This hotel is literally right across the street from Quicken Loans arena and in short walking distance from Progressive Field and First Energy Stadium. So it’s very reasonably priced in that respect plus the room was nice and clean. You do however have to deal with a $ 20 per day valet fee for parking which can really add up over time. Also there was the promise of complimentary alcoholic drinks in the evening at booking. This however never materialized. And yes– as others have stated in previous reviews: The sleep number beds were completely non-​functional.

First of all… if you are a light sleeper do not stay here. We spent 2 nights here this weekend. My partner did not sleep much at all between being located right off the elevator and on the side facing the arena. Thankfully I am not a light sleeper.
Thursday evening there was a concert and Friday evening there was a comedy show.
He heard «woooo hooo ing» for hours. Ok, not the Radisson’s fault but this does not contribute to a pleasant stay.
The sleep number beds were novel. Again, I slept like a rock, not so much for my partner. (poor man can not wait to sleep in his own bed once again this evening).
The room was clean and comfortable. No mini fridge?!? WHAAAT???
Being a windy city and having the Radisson flag and the American flag right outside our room (610) was yet another thing that kept him awake. I heard them as I was falling asleep but again, nothing keeps me from my shut eye.
The bar was cozy and the bartender made a mighty drink!
We did not partake of the breakfast buffet but ordered off the menu. I had one of the skillet breakfasts which was good but they did not make it with the ingredients listed on the menu! Right?!?
The hot water heaters took a dump and we had to check out early and go stay with his son. I can not start my day without a hot shower. So not happy with this. Customer service comped us the valet fee for two days to make up for the lack of hot water. Sorry this was a nice gesture but damn!
The biggest saving grace was the downtown location. So much within walking distance!!! Loved it!!! Short jaunt to happening 4^th street haunts.
Next trip we will stay at the Hyatt Regency at the Arcade one street over from the arena.

I stayed in this hotel, twice, ten years ago and enjoyed it then. Now that our youngest daughter has moved to downtown Cleveland, we’re enjoying the Radisson all over again.
Like a beautiful but mature woman with good bones, this older hotel is aging gracefully. Everything in the lobby and rooms is updated and refreshed. The staff is topnotch and attentive and everything is scrupulously clean (a pet peeve of mine). The valets are eager to help you in, and the front desk staff is cheerful and competent.
We had a King Business room and it was wonderful. A Sleep Number bed, spacious room, large-​screen TV and a bathroom with every amenity you could imagine (hand soap, bath soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, loofah, vanity kit … and a partridge in a pear tree … literally everything). In-​room coffeemaker, but a great breakfast, free, in the lobby in the AM. Free in-​room WiFi. The price was rock-​bottom compared to other large cities.
Easy-​on-​easy-​off a major expressway, easy walk to great restaurants and sports events.
One last thing — the wastebaskets in the room can double as a wine bottle cooler. They’re solid piece, lined with heavy-​duty plastic. We filled one with ice, stuck in the wine bottle we brought with us, and it was still icy cold the next morning (this is only important if you’re on vacation and drink wine in the morning …).
We’ll definitely be back here many times.

Room: clean and neat. Housekeeping kept the room nicely made-​up.
However, this hotel should really consider abandoning the «sleep number» beds, which are nothing more than inflatable mattresses with a remote-​controlled pump. The switches for one side of the king-​size bed did not work, and after asking they be looked at, still didn’t work very well (I’d been to this hotel once before in the past year and had the same problem). I’d much rather have had a decent hotel-​quality pillow-​top mattress instead. Some may not find these beds terribly comfortable no matter what «number» they’re set to.
Next, if there aren’t enough guests in the hotel, the small restaurant (actually just the breakfast room) is closed for dinner and there’s no room service. It seems this will be rectified in November 2013 when a larger restaurant is added to the hotel. The breakfast (buffet only, steam-​tray eggs, bacon and sausage, waffle machine, much like what Hyatt Place serves), unless the cost is included in your room, is best avoided. Might be best to head to another hotel in the area for this meal.
The «state of the art fitness center» on the second floor is a small room with not much more than a universal gym, 2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals and a recumbant bike.
Desk staff very friendly and helpful.
I enjoyed the fact that the windows in the room opened, at least a small amount, and, despite being across the street from Progressive Field on the evening of a big game, there didn’t seem to be much noise (ok, the Indians lost… that might have accounted for part of it).
For what we paid, this property was exactly what we expected. It was a business trip… if you can afford a bit more per night, spend it. It’ll be worth it.

We arrive at the hotel and they force you to valet park. I run in to ask if there is another lot to park in for cheaper or since we are staying here is there a garage provided. Answer was no! It is $ 20 to park and thy park out car almost 15 minutes away. We check in only because we had no other option to get to our room and find dirty plates and utensils sitting outside out door. Disgusting. No one clearly had been thru to clean the hallway. Would never recommend this establishment to anyone.

I had bid on Priceline for our room and was awarded the Radisson downtown Cleveland. I was very leery because of the negative reviews I had read, but ended up liking the hotel. The staff were super nice, valet parking was $ 20/​day which isn’t terrible for a downtown area, especially since there was in and out privileges. There were a few times that it was raining or just downright cold and it was nice to have the car pulled right up to the front door, literally 3 steps away.
Obviously this place is all about location. Otherwise it’s pretty average. I didn’t see why the sleep number beds were all that and probably would have preferred a normal bed. Stay away from the $ 10 breakfast buffet… it’s all processed yuckiness. And if you’re a light sleeper bring some ear plugs. Otherwise, it’s a pretty okay place… certainly not as bad as some of the reviews make it sound, imo.
