If I’m feeling like pizza in between classes, this is a decent place to go. It’s super convenient, but I also find myself getting a little«pizza’d-out» pretty quickly because it’s a college staple. Most recently I had a Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza with red onions and it was good. I do think it’s a little expensive though and I would be thrilled to see some fresh ingredients on the pizzas. Maybe some garlic, arugula, and balsamic or something?

«Pinzas» is the pizza station in the Tinkham Veale University Center(TVUC) at Case Western Reserve University. It’s one of three stations in the main area of the ground floor, all run by the Bön Appetit food service. CAVEAT: I went here on opening day. They said their main pizza oven was not working yet so they used an oven in the back, presumably shared with the other food stations. PROS: Service was friendly in our brief interaction. CONS: I asked for a personal pizza($ 6) but they wouldn’t make one due to the aforementioned oven issue. Instead I bought two slices of «BBQ chicken» pizza, which were a whopping $ 3.75 apiece*. I’m going to go ahead and declare this the most expensive pizza in Cleveland. I don’t think it costs that much even at the airport or Progressive Field. Anyway, it wasn’t even good! The chicken itself was marinated and soft, but the sauce tasted like cooked onions and not at all like tomatoes. There was nothing«BBQ» about it whatsoever. The crust was doughy and pale and bland, with none of that satisfying golden crispness you would want. For the price they charge, it should be nothing short of amazing. *At 8 slices that would be $ 30 a pie; at 12 slices it would be a $ 45 pizza. Goddamn. Student pricing fail.
