Downtown Self Storage

I think this storage space needs an updated review since the last time I wrote one was around 2 years ago.
Since then this «self storage space» has changed ownership and some things I was okay with before have started to sort of bother me…
A few things to note, all can be taken either way:
— They don’t call this place «self storage» for no reason. Really. There is hardly anyone ever there, which can seem rather unsafe at times, especially in this location. Or when the keypad isn’t working and you can’t even get to your own belongings? It would be nice to have someone on staff there during AT LEAST work hours. Again – this part can seem like a perk to some, who don’t want to be bothered by staff. But for my purposes, it would be great have someone around. We use the space for storing marketing materials we need access to on a weekly basis, not extra furniture I’m not going to need to look at for 2 years.
— Speaking of the keypad, repairs and lighting are worth mentioning. We’ve been waiting for someone to repair the door of our unit for ages. It could be fixed now, but who knows. No one calls to make sure you know what’s going on UNLESS your credit card on file expired and then they’re on you like white on rice. I wish they had that same persistence with repairs. The keypad also gets broken and with no one around, you could just be crap out of luck. And lighting. Is this just not a thing at storage units? Can I get a light up in this thing, please? I’d even be okay if the hallway my unit was located in was properly lit, but because it’s not, it’s unsafe and impractical for any of my interns to come after dark. We got some stick on LED lights, but really…
— Safety. Maybe I was just in La-​La Land before when I mentioned the area was safe. It’s NOT. I do not allow any of my staff to visit the storage unit at night, especially since this place is unstaffed most of the time. It’s dark, the neighborhood is seedy, period. There are like three-​4 establishments open down there, but there are way more dark, deserted, dilapidated areas for creepers to hide – and yes, it does happen. It’s happened to me during the day. My staff only goes in pairs even during the day.
— Deliveries! Since it’s mostly unstaffed, any packages you get sent to your unit will most likely get bounced back at least twice until maybe the third time is a charm and someone is there to sign.
This probably sounds all pretty negative at first glance, but I think it’s more just realistic. This place has perks, trust me. It’s easily accessible for staff who live all over NEO, it’s cheap, it’s easy, no hidden fees and honestly, being left alone to do your thing is quite nice once in a while. The loading area is super easy to work as well. I just think it’s important to know all the things before you sign up. Downtown Self Storage really is a great value for what you get, just come prepared.

Nice place, but in the beginning after I called to inquire about the leasing/​renting a unit, they bugged me too much, which I didn’t appreciate. Okay, so far.

I know I already gave this place a five star review but I just wanted to update. Every time that I come here the place is so clean. It is very dry and it is reassuring to see that all my belongings are safe. Also the people that work here are very nice and helpful. I highly recommend this storage place to anyone living in the downtown Cleveland area.

This place is great. I stopped in to get a storage spot and was signed up and gone in just a few minutes. The guy who runs the place showed me the available units, gave me a lesson on how to use the freight elevator and keypad had me sign a lease and that was it. There is an area next to the building with a big roller door were you can pull off the street and unload. They have big flat carts and a freight elevator, so moving in was quick.
