We still sell individual screws and sell rope, chain, screening, contact paper, electrical wire, hardware cloth, pipe & tubing by the foot. Please come in and check us out next time you have a home project.
History
Established in 1911.
Heights Hardware is timeless: oak cabinets, rolling ladders, pressed-tin ceiling, and original wood floors. In 1911, Alfred, Arthur, and Sidney Weiskopf opened Weiskopf Bros. Hardware in Cleveland’s Glenville neighborhood. The brothers later opened a second location called Weiskopf Bros. Heights Hardware in 1922. Oscar Elton bought Heights Hardware in 1949, beginning a family connection that remains to this day. Elton sold the business to Carl Weiss, a cousin, in 1969. Elton’s 2nd cousin, current owner Tom Gathy, decided to buy the store in 1979; he was a regular customer since he was active in the construction trades. Gathy modernized the store and affiliated with Ace Hardware. He hired his son Andy to build for the future and they expanded the store’s merchandise by building a rear addition to replace an old carriage house. Heights Hardware remains a strong presence in the Cleveland area by continuing to offer a large product selection, fast service, know-how, and the personal touch.
