Great family dinner! The chicken fried steak was very good and the side vegetables were outstanding. This place was way out of my area, but will definitely go back if I was in the area.

Seems like a very nice place with good food. I had the enchiladas(with beef) and the chips and salsa that came with the meal were surprisingly good. I suspect that ordering Mexican food here was a mistake, though. It was good, but not quite worthy of five stars. They seem to specialize more in burgers, fried steaks, etc. The service was also prompt and courteous.

If I could bump the star up a little tad above 4, I would. Honestly, I would say 4.3 or so. The food is pretty darn good and the wait staff is «down home friendly» most of the time. The last time we ate there, we overheard a waitress telling another customer some very wrong information; however, the manager fixed everything. I have not personally experienced bad service, but I witnessed a little going on to my left. Perhaps she was having a bad day. Anyway, the place is pretty consistent. If you are hungry GETTHERIBEYE! It is cooked on an open wood fire. If you are really hungry, request a large cut. The steaks are all precut, but of course, some are going to be slightly bigger or smaller. The menu is limited, but good. I have had to add a little salt here and there to the peas and other sides. Other than that, the food is solid.

Best home cooked chicken fried steak you can buy out. My husband and I both had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, cream gravy, corn, green beans and salad. The salad is the old traditional dinner salad – small iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, croutons and onions. I wished I had passed on the salad and had an extra helping of mashed potatoes. Yes they were that good!

First visit based on Unilocal reviews– glad we did, nothing fancy but very friendly and fast service, and basic home cooking. Agree with previous posts about parking, but you can find a place on the street if you need. Will go back

Tried this little diner on a locals recommendation while in the area, and was pleased with both the service and the food. The fully packed parking area was an early testament to their quality, and I was not disappointed in the least. Everything from their pricing, to their portions and flavor represent what’s desirable in a small town diner. Upon first stepping inside the R&K Café 2, you’re met with the simplicity and straightforwardness expected within a small town diner. No reason to overdue things when simple and straightforward, albeit delicious american fare makes up the just of the menu. We were greeted moments after we stepped inside by a waitress, whom told my buddy and I to sit where we would like. We were quickly served our drinks, and didn’t have to wait long at all to place our orders. I never in fact had to ask for a refill or anything, as the wait staff seemed to be on top of just about everything we needed. I was in the mood for a hearty meal, and ordered the R&K burger with Double Patties, Cheese, Jalapeño, and Chilli. My buddie ordered a club sandwich with fries. The burger was delicious, the meat obviously was hand mashed ground beef as it seemed to be packed by hand and off rounded rather than pressed and even. The meat texture and flavor took me back to the home cooking I was raised with, and had that pure home made flavor with simple salt and pepper. The chilli wasn’t too salty and didn’t overpower the burger too much, as I could still take in the juicy beef with every bite. My only(minor) complaint would be that the jalapeños were a little milder than I had hopped. The club my buddy ordered was quite a bit larger than I had expected, and looked delicious as well. I’d recommend this spot to any body passing through Cleburn in the mood for high quality american diner fare, as everything about the meal and service I received was as good as I could expect in the area. Of course to any locals looking to try some place new, I’d tell you to give them a shot! I doubt you’d regret your decision.

I was told about R&K after my mother in law tried the chicken fried steak, she told me it was amazing and great value for money so I had to check it out for myself. On my first visit I tried the rump steak which comes with a choice of sides(the choices are amazing I might add). The steak was great, the sides were all amazing too, I had corn and mashed potatoes(You do get a choice of 3) My wife had the garden salad and never has anything different, the waitresses have even taken the effort to bring extra onion each time for no extra charge. The next time I visited I had the chicken fried steak, this was AMAZINF and the serving was huge. This time the restaurant was out of regular corn so I had to substitute for corn nuggets and i’ve gotta say this was the first time I’d ever eaten them, I’m originally from England so it was new to me, but this new food was amazing to me and I look for it everywhere. Overall R&K is a great resturant, beautifully decoraated in western style décor, great food and a great service.

This place is what I would call, «southern favorites». I had the pleasure of eating here. And they have great southern favorites. The lunch special is the absolute best deal I’ve found in the area. The food was literally out in a flash and it was good. The servers were friendly and very informative. Their cole-slaw and many other things are made in house. That to me was worth stopping in. I also discovered the their pies are all house made. Next time you’re in Cleburne, stop in and give R&K a try.
