I have been coming here since I was little and they have consistently had amazing doughnuts. If your not so much of a doughnut person then they have croissants, ham and cheese with jalapeño croissants and even egg rolls. And let’s talk drink, coffee, tea even blended smoothies including my favorite: green tea bubble tea. Its a staple in my community and I will always return for more amazing stuff.

We’ve been regulars here for over a decade! Love their Apple Fritters! And one taste of their chocolate glazed donuts and I’m transformed back eons ago to a time when I was the only one that my father would let dunk in his coffee. Maybe I was the only one brave enough LOL Now I dunk in my husbands coffee and enjoy the memories while making new ones. Funny– how our memories are connected to the foods we love, and the treats we got as a child.

You will walk out with a big pink box and if you are like me it will be loaded with apple fritters, glazed twists, glazed old fashioneds and cake donuts with chocolate frosting. Maybe some maple bars for your dad. You will impulsively add a bag of donut holes that you can munch on the way home… finger food for driving. Everything is good, fresh and house made. If they ONLY made apple fritters they would still make me happy. The fritters come in two sizes and I order the small so the ratio to fried outside compared to doughy inside us higher. More fat is good. They open early in the morning and are open past lunchtime. Enjoy.

Like any good locally-owned doughnut shop it has fresh, delicious food every morning and at a fair price when buying in bulk. And being the only good doughnut place in the area(the only other I know of is Safeway, which has bland doughnuts) it fills in a much-needed hole within this town. The only thing I dislike, which is true for any small doughnut shop, is that they don’t take cards and I hate carrying cash with me, so this is a rare treat when I stop for food here in the earlier hours of the day.

The smell is so good I don’t think I’ve ever noticed the decorations. Coming from the East, I was saddened by California’s apparent disdain for this spectacular quick breakfast, but when I lived in Clearlake Castle Doughnuts never disappointed. Awesome quality and selection of donuts and great coffee also; those are my only judging criteria for this kind of place.

I originally opened that business in 1980. Started with a vacant building. Slept on the floor on a cot for 6 mos. while I ran all new electrical(I wonder if Roy is still alive) I ran out of money many times and opening day was SO exciting. The review caught my eye because I was there 10 years ago and it looked as if they had given up on the retail store front. That was a VERY successful store for the 15 years I owned it.
