I agree the owner needs some customer relations training. We went there on a Saturday and saw that eggs Benedict was on special. My girlfriend ordered it, but was told it was not available. It was written on the chalkboard for all to see. I have had canned c-rations from. WW-11 that tasted better. Unfortunately this place has captured customers.

RUDERUDEOWNER we are on this side of the lake because we are evacuees and we haven’t had a decent meal in a week, and after we ate here we forgot to get the receipt so my wife went back and the owner refused to give us our receipt and was very rude to her and said no. I will never ever go to this place again. Country Kitchen Café has horrible food horrible service and a horrible owner please do not waste your money here!

PLEASESTAYAWAY! Worst service I have ever encountered. These people do not deserve to run a business with the customer service they provide. The food was not very good and the waitress would whisper negative comments under her breath. The staff was very pushy and rude. They even talked negatively about the customers openly. Would give negative stars if I could.

Well second visit in same size vehicle but this time was verbally abused about parking there after we had been seated and rudely had our order taken as well as a menu thrown down on the table. We parked in a designated area to walk to this restaurant which may serve the area not manyout of towners if at all were tourist. We seem to be the only out of towners in the establishment. This spot was not in the lot but off the Hwy 20 in front of restaurant. We proceed in and get rudely seated and order taken. Food is not anything to write home for Roast beef is like shoe leather, not to mention some«homemade biscuit» which never hit the oven to bake but was doughy and not cooked. We have no choice as to stop anywhere else with what we are driving and location has not anything than a gas station, which has proven now to be a better deal to purchase food packed than eat at this restaurant. We paid for food and owners wife who serves proceeds to say parking is available in back with a very nasty voice and attitude. If we could park in back we would of but the vehicle would get stuck and cause another problem far worse. So we did not, they didn’t care to hear this because they know about everything with their attitude. As I paid the bill and was leaving I was verbally abused by the owner for the same thing and his lack of business from us being parked where we did for less than 45 minutes. Mind you this wonderful owner is serving and greeting patrons with flip flops on and in the restaurant business no respecting person ever. knows not to wear open toed shoes in public. Gross looking and unkept feet. His wife is rude serving and nasty attitude. We proceed after second verbal abuse on same parking situation the owner follows us out while we proceed to our vehicles and started to scream he lost business due to us being there. Telling us that he had an arrangement with other drivers not to park there, I said none of our drivers knew of this arrangement nor was it even discussed with the company. … If possible to rate with Unilocal a –10 star I would. This was the worst I ever seen be any restaurant owner and I have grown up in the business. This is a bad way to handle the situation. My next call will be to health department for inspection and handling and cleanliness of establishment. Seeing if you that lazy to wear proper shoes but have on flip flops and not dust anything and serve raw food you should be closed. Mind you the only patrons there the wonderful unhappy people who live there that don’t want to cook come here for this idea of what they call ‘fine dining’ of Clearlake. Dog food has more appeal. I tried to reverse my charges but was able to in time and that is a shame to add to their unappealing way to conduct business.

I went in with my family. My mom and dad and two sons sat down separately and me my husband and daughters wanted a different table. To make it convienent for them. They sat my mom and dad And saw me and my husband and said no to us. That it was a hour wait. Mind you there were about 5 open tables and a big one right next to my parents. My dad asked why cant we sit with them and he said no. Very rudely. The manager got in my moms face and pointed to my dad and said if you don’t like t get out. I think they discriminated against my dark husband. Also I think if you can’t sit more then 5 people there should be a sign up. Worst service ever. I don’t know why their still open for business. I should of looked at all the Unilocal reviews before going in. Worst restaraunt ever. And very rude people inside. I DONOTRECOMMEND this place. At all.

I was hesitant about stopping at this place due to all of the bad reviews. Since the reviews were old we gave them a shot, I’m glad I did. The place is deffinatly a dive but sometimes those are the best. The waitress was very friendly, the food was all hot and fresh. Homemade gravy and home fries were both good. I had chicken fried steak, husband had an omlett, kids had pancakes and bacon, the bacon was huge good and lean. It was a good hot breakfast.

It is a lie that they can’t erase or alter your review. I put a photo giving the owners an idea of what a Ham Steak Breakfast looks like. It’s gone. They are rude, and they tormented my nephew that he couldn’t even eat. They need to get out of business because they are not good food establishment owners. Choose another business that don’t evolve people.

I ordered ham and eggs($ 8.95) and when I got my bill it was($ 10.95). They said they had to charge me for a ham stake portion because they didn’t have the regular size portion any more. «Bait and Switch» look out!

This is the worst restaurant in lake county. I ordered corn beef hash, eggs over medium, with hash brown potatoes. We also ordered biscuits and gravy. The corn beef was perfectly round slice of out of the can, barely heatewith a film of oil on it. The biscuit was still slightly frozen in the middle, the gravy was floury, with lumps. The eggs were over hard. Located off hiway 20, must be how they are still in business. I will wait for new owners before i return. If negative stars were possible: minus two

I don’t know why they only have a 3 star. The server was really nice and attentive, the food was really good and the price is not bad at all. We had breakfast tho, so if you are looking for some yummy pancakes, hash browns, eggs, sausage and bacon this is the place to go.

Granted this is an out of the way location, but the restaurant is located right on hwy 20. Fast, clean, friendly… tasty sandwiches and burgers. Pretty much all you could ask for in a road side diner. Breakfast and lunch only… though I saw a sign for weekend evening bbq.

We go to the Country Kitchen about once a month. The service is excellent! They do a great job keeping your coffee cup filled up. I don’t need a lot of fancy; just need good food, good service and friendly. That is what you get at the Country Kitchen.

Open, airy and clean with simple, well-prepared food. I ordered a tuna sandwich but asked them to «hold the bread» and the waitress was nice about it, served it on lettuce with some pickle and tomato, which is what I was hoping for. The accompanying potato salad was delicious; I didn’t ask if it was made on the premises but it sure tasted homemade. This little place isn’t much to look at from the outside, but walking through the door was like a walk into instant relaxation in a friendly, old-time atmosphere. I wish Unilocal had an «Ambience» category for the sort of diner that you just can’t find in bigger towns any more. They’re far and away my favorite sort of places to relax while sharing a meal with friends or to take a break while traveling.

They have a new chef and he is quite good I hope they keep him. There are very few restaurants to choose from in the clear lake area I tried them a few years ago and it was bad I don’t know what the young man’s name is but he will cook your food the way you ask. He is also excited about his craft the talks to his customers asking how they liked their food and if there’s anything he could do better. I have eaten there three times in the last months and half and my meals have been consistent. I have to remove a star was in for breakfast the other day same cook but a bad meal instead of ham in my omelet they used lunch meat chopped up different cheese very greasy off day I hope

I always enjoy eating here every time I come to Clearlake. Food is simple quick and tasty, even the butter on the toast tasted good. The«2×2» is a reasonable breakfast combo. Place is clean, service is good, people are friendly. Just be aware they close at 1pm so get there by 12pm.
