The Landing offers a large lake front bar and grille, with perfect views of Clear Lake, Iowa. We have a large dock where you can conveniently tie up your boat during the day or evening to stop by for food or drinks. The Landing is located at 1603 South Shore Dr, attached to the lakeside of the South Shore Inn. Stop by for great food, unique drinks and an unbeatable atmosphere!

History

Established in 2012.

The Landing was built in 2012 to provide a première venue to enjoy live music, great food and reasonably priced drinks for Clear Lake residents and vacationers alike.

Relatively new restaurant, quaint but with beautiful sights on the lake, perfect for evening time. Lots of outdoor seating and a fire pit to boot. I’ve only had the breakfast sandwich but it was delicious! Everything seems a little pricey and the menus are limited but definitely worth a trip.

This was a nice place to eat outside on the lake. The setting really helps this place and it has so much more potential. The food was mediocre.
My mom loved her shrimp but it was served with a vegi-kabob that never touched the grill and was served raw. It was much better after it was cooked. The onion rings were good. I had a steak sandwich which was also good. Nothing was fantastic or exceptional, including the service.

The space is fantastic right on the lake. Cocktail and beer menus were great! The food however, not so great. I’d love to see the food get better so we could come back here again and enjoy the patio with a cocktail. We actually ordered the fish tacos based on a previous Unilocalers review and they were just terrible.

They are getting one star because they have really good Bloody Mary’s. The food we had was really bad. Three of us in our party had the fish n chips. They came out in perfect triangles, so you know it was frozen then deep fried. My husband described it as fish oatmeal. He maybe ate half a piece. Another person in our party had chicken wings that they said tasted like they just came out of the deep freezer. They also got one of our orders wrong, and instead of correcting it, told us that is not what they had ordered.

I’m from Florida so I give this place 4 stars because of the view and environment especially when they have live music there. Drinking a beer and enjoying the lake view, is about as close as home as I’ve been in Iowa. The food is nothing to write home about but its ok and will get something in your stomach to soak up the alcohol. Good looking friendly servers and bartenders. Come to have a drink, relax, and enjoy the view!

This place is all about location, location, location. One of only three places actually on Clear Lake the views are beautiful. All seating is outdoor, with some under cover, so this place is only open in the summer. You can even park your boat at the dock and walk up up dine.
The food is average in most cases with some portions falling on the small side. The biggest issue is the menu is pretty limited for food. A decent appetizer selection and only about 8 – 10 different entrees. (Several of which are just variations on a theme.). A nice bar selection though so for drinks on the lake this is a good choice. Just not great for dinner. The prices are a little high and food is just average in taste and presentation.
The service is quite slow. The place is always busy because of it’s location, but the service staff does not seem to be efficient at all. They don’t have a good system of queuing for a table either so things can be quite frustrating that way. Ending our meal (get box, get check, get checked out) has taken over 20 minutes on several occasions.
Unfortunately it just isn’t that great although it’s always nice to done alfresco on the lake.

This a great place for cocktails overlooking Clear Lake! Band playing on a barge outside of the landing during our Saturday evening visit. Entertainment can also be found watching the boats attempting to trailer at the boat landing next to the deck. All seating is outside (although some under cover), so if the sun is out be sure to stop for a drink. Why 3 stars? The food is only average at best. The fish tacos are the best option on the menu by far.

Best view on lake that we found during our day trip there. Hard to find… would have never found without the internet search we made. I had fish tacos – nice presentation but the fish was a little toooo fishy. Hubby got the Maui Grill Sanwich which he enjoyed. A little overpriced considering what you got. Nice waitress who was evidently overworked. Nobody could find her to get checked out including us.

Traveling from NE to WI and pulled this restaurant up on Unilocal!Very good food with a great view. Casual lakeside dining – my salad was fresh and my wife enjoyed her fish taco and fries. Plan to stop again on the way back home!

Great sunset over Clear lake.
The place is small with only outside seating but the view is great. The food is above average and they have a nice selection.
Full bar and reasonable priced for a nice lakeside restaurant.

Rented out the entire hotel for our wedding party for a wedding in June of 2012. The location was great. We had enough rooms for the entire wedding party. The bar and restaurant opened just the week before which turned out to be an added bonus. The entire wedding party was able to enjoy having drinks after the rehearsal and the wedding. The morning of the wedding allowed us to do pictures right on the lake and inside the bar which also worked better than expected. No running around having to try to get the wedding party together or find food or drinks for pre-wedding festivities. The hotel and restaurant staff were very helpful and made the weekend that much more enjoyable. My new wife and I are really looking forward to enjoying the lake andThe Landing again next year. I highly recommend this place for weddings or just a nice place to unwind after a long day on the lake. Keep up the good work and see you again next year. I will post a few photos once we get them back from the photographer. I have absolutely no complaints and would not have changed a thing. Thanks again to Todd and the Staff at The Landing!

The Landing has a nice deck on the Lake. The food was quite good. I had Fish Tacos, and a fruit bowl. The Fish Tacos had a fruit salsa on them… It was great. Service was a little slow, but I will be back!
