We had a great time here and the service and food was excellent. Try the Himalayan Salt Bock Filet, it’s unique and great.

Exceptional food and superb service in a rather formal corner of the Ritz-Carlton lobby. This Ritz is in an outstanding location, in the heart of Clayton, with lots of things nearby. This restaurant features traditional American dishes, perfectly prepared, and well served in a room allowing for private conversation and enjoying nice wines and cocktails. If you are staying at the hotel, the cigar bar next-door is one-of-a-kind! Lobby bar is exceptional for a nightcap! Superb location all around. A must for visitors.

I remember coming here a lot growing up and the food was always amazing. It was a classy ambiance, with an extensive menu, tasty food(including chocolate soufflés!!)), and good service. Came here recently and I noticed there were lots of changes. It looks like they are trying modernize the ambiance and go for a more casual, relaxed vibe. They have a a paper menu and way less selection(and no chocolate soufflé). I noticed everything overall seemed to get downgraded a bit on the menu, but the prices stayed the same. The restaurant seemed pretty understaffed and the food was really nothing spectacular for what you would expect from Ritz. It’s not as great as it used to be, but hopefully things will improve.

We can here for an Anniversary dinner during a weeknight. We also had in tow our 3 year old and 3 month old. We didn’t have a sitter and this place was the only nice restaurant that was kid friendly. The food was delicious! We had the mussels appetizer which went above our expectation and for dinner I had the filet and my husband had the ribeye. We couldn’t complain about anything about our food and the drinks were made well too. The crème puff desserts with ice cream finished the meal off nicely. Here comes the bad part… if you have 3 hours to hang around for poor, slow service then it’s the place to go. Our appetizers were so late that our dinner(after an hour) came out before the mussels. Our streaks were a little over done so they offered to redo them while we at the appetizers. Finally we when when we received our remade steaks, they were perfect but by then it was going on after 9(we had a 7:00 reservation) and we wanted to hurry and order dessert and leave. Again we were with our children so that made the experience even more stressful. The dessert took another 30 min, we inhaled them down and tried to leave before our 3 year old had a melt down. Overall I have given it 3 because the food was so good. And I would have been irate by the service if I didn’t have a groupon and we were comped for our drinks and child’s dinner. I doubt I’d go back even without the kids.

We took a party of four on Christmas Eve — hoping for a special occasion in line with what we’ve experienced at the Four Seasons Cielo, Niche, Chez Leon and other fine dining venues in STL. The first clue that this was amateur night at the Ritz was our being seated at a table that could not have been more than 36″ square(did they drag in the extra banquet two tops?). When the plates were served to the four of us, all the silverware and glassware had to be awkwardly shifted wherever on the table it would fit. A hot-to-the-touch plate was served to my companion and had to hang 2″ over the edge of the table because it simply would not fit in front of her. Is this the«It’s My Pleasure» hospitality that the Ritz is known for? No thank you.

We went because I had purchased the Groupon deal. Not sure I like the new décor but food was OUTSTANDING. The service was very good too. We had two manhattans, the charcuterie and surf and turf! Each was very good. The bread service comes with six unique infused oils. Before I payed the check I had purchased the dinner Groupon

I took my wife here for here birthday dinner. Everything was very good. The service was excellent without being snooty or pretentious. We both enjoyed our starter and main course but the dessert was really disappointing. We had a Groupon so it was somewhat reasonable. For being a restaurant at The Ritz I was just not blown away by anything. It was a good night out but I was expecting much more.

I had a great experience dining at The Grill earlier this evening. I showed up around 5:45pm not knowing that the restaurant opens at 6pm. I had no problem waiting 15 minutes, but the hostess insisted on calling the kitchen to check if they were ready to begin serving guests, and fortunately, they were! My dinner started with some complimentary warm bread: a sweet cornbread muffin, a standard bread roll, and bread sticks. The bread was a nice started, particularly the cornbread, and I appreciated that it came out warm to help melt the butter I slathered all over each piece. For my appetizer I tried the carrot and ginger portage soup. I had no idea what to expect – I didn’t even know what portage was until the server explained it to me – but I was pleasantly surprised by the slightly sweet taste and pureed texture of the soup, though I could have done without the ginger slices; just a personal preference. For my entrée I ordered the 12oz prime NY strip with a side of creamed spinach. The steak was prepared to near-perfection, medium rare, seared on the outside, pink’ish-red in the middle(see picture). The steak came with a side sauce but I preferred my steak uncompromised. The steak was almost as good, if not on par, with the prime NY strip I recently had at the 801 Chophouse, a true steakhouse, which is saying something for a hotel restaurant. The cream spinach was the perfect side, not too heavy, juicy but not overly creamy, and packed with spinach flavor. Popeye would be a fan. I passed on dessert as I was comfortably full. But based on my dining experience – the ambiance, service, and quality – I will without a doubt be back to try their dessert, and of course, their«1885» bone in ribeye. =)
