A Fitting Creation is a full-​service tailor and alteration shop located in Clayton, Indiana. For 38 years, Dianne has outfitted brides and their bridal parties from as close as Plainfield to as distant as Bloomington, Carmel, Terre Haute, Greenfield, Mooresville, Zionsville and Lebanon with fabulous custom gowns and requested alterations.

She also specializes in formal & evening attire as well as everyday wear, suits, jackets, skirts, slacks and custom designs.

With her experience and keen eye for details, Dianne can add those beloved personal touches to any garment that will make you look spectacular.

History

Established in 1976.

AFC started in 1976 doing just alterations and mending for family and friends under the name of Rip-​N-​Stitch. In December 2004 Dianne joined an elite sewing organization, Association of Sewing and Design Professionals. In 2008 management decided to change the name to A Fitting Creation to evoke a more sophisticated image. 2009 added a new stand alone building for AFC as the sewing cottage. The sewing cottage has 600 square feet of clean, well lighted space for the entire wedding party with plenty of room to learn how to walk and pull the train of that gorgeous gown. Sewing lessons are available upon request. Doors are open and appointments are available.

Since her early years, Dianne sat under her mother’s feet and learned hand stitches. As Dianne went through school, she always thought it would be great to sew like Mom. At 13 she made her first garment that was wearable. Fast forward to 1976 and Dianne was open for business — alterations only. Her husband named her business Rip-​N-​Stitch. It was not until 2008 that she decided to change the name to A Fitting Creation — a more sophisticated name and ultimately image. In 2004 she had joined the Association of Sewing and Design Professionals. This membership has awarded Dianne with several certificates to acknowledge her ability, techniques and sewing expertise.
