I honestly dont even know where to begin with this. If I could give 0 stars, I would and this is coming from someone who has been in the service industry for over 8 years. We came here a couple months ago looking for a bar to play the bar trivia game, Quizzo. For starters, we couldn’t even find a parking spot. We had to park at Del Taco and walk over. We came in and sat ourselves at a high top near where the trivia table was set up. We sat for about 10 minutes before anyone ever came over and said a word to us. We got our drinks and ordered calzones since they were two for one. After almost 45 minutes our server came to let us know that they were out of calzones-except for one last one and asked if we wanted something else to replace the second one. We should have already had our food by now. But since we are servers we tried to be understanding. We ordered an appetizer platter. The calzone finally came out but was badly burnt so our server apologized and got it taken off our bill. We came in 3rd at our quizzo game and as a prize we won a $ 10 gift card. So tonight we decided to go back and give this place another shot since we had a gift card and we wanted to play quizzo. So that leads me to what happened tonight. Again we had to park at Del Taco. Waited 10 minutes before we were greeted. We ordered drinks and nachos and waited for menus. However we never got a menu. Our nachos came out(they were horrible), we attempted to order but our server walked away. We also never received any plates or silverware. Much much later we finally tracked her down and asked to order food. She said she would come back, which she did about 5 – 10 minutes later. We placed our calzone order. The only thing we knew we COULD order because we had no menus and we happened to remember to special from last time. While waiting for our food we had to go order drinks at the bar because our server was no where to be found. We also had to clean plates off our table and take them to the bar top because we had no room to play the trivia game. Our food came out but only one of the two calzones was there. Our server walked away and came back about 10 minutes later with the second one then explained that she had dropped the first one because her cardigan caught on a chair. After we were done and quizzo had ended we were waiting for our check so we could pay and never come back to this place but it never came. I had to flag our server down and get it from her. We had not even talked to her for a solid hour. We gave her the gift card we won last time and a card to pay the rest. She brings it back after 5 – 10 minutes only to tell us there was nothing on the gift card so she went ahead and ran our card for the full amount. We tried explaining we won it here at quizzo, even got the quizzo host involved who mentioned this has happened before with other people. The server walks away without even attempting to help us resolve the situation. We pull another server over and ask for the manager, she says the bartender is managing tonight but she will grab them. She then proceeds to wash off tables and clean instead of getting the manager. We ask again for her to grab her. She walks away and after waiting for 15 minutes we give up and leave. This is the WORST bar I have ever been to. I will never go back and I advise you dont go there if you want to have good service or good food.

The worst service & bartender Trina. Zero class. Worst service to regulars and newbies alike. Not to mention the poor quality of food and WAYOVERPRICED. Birmingham is cheaper! That’s pretty shocking. Overall. The best thing about this place is the chicken tacos.

The Hideout is quite possibly my favorite bar because it has a giant mural of Homer Simpson on one of the walls. It really has nothing to do with the restaurant itself but why not, it works. The Hideout also has lots of beer signs on the wall and a giant Captain Morgan statue. This should be a better indicator of the type of bar it is. Standard bar fare and domestic beers with the modern day bonus of craft brews. They usually have specials like cheap burgers and beers or buy one get one free hangovers. Loses a point because they took out the photo hunt machine. Gains a point for being next to a Del Taco. Loses another point because located next to abandoned Hollywood video.

We had a great lunch today. My fish and chips was excellent… the cod was sweet and fresh and the fries were yummy. The service was friendly, efficient, and helpful. Alaina was a super fun waitress. The ice tea was the weak point, not very tasty but my husband’s salad was excellent. We will be back soon. The prices are fair; the music was not too loud; the mix of people was interesting, and the décor is a comfortable style. This is a good place to eat and/or to have a drink. I“m so glad it’s away from the rattling crowds in downtown Royal Oak. This is a welcome neighborhood bar.

I’m going to agree with some others… the food was just okay even though every order for my pickup was wrong! Extremely disappointing since I work down the street. I definitely let my coworkers know never again. It was my first and last time. Not to mention when I called to let them know the girl tried to say that it was my coworkers fault and asked me if I was standing next to him and yes luckily I was so I know he said everything correctly! She didn’t want to take responsibility and I hung up on her as she was of no help. None of our burgers had what we requested and if you ask for season fries know you will be getting waffle fries. We asked for a side of cheese for the fries and got shredded cheese over the waffle fries. Well okay? Needless to say we won’t be ordering there again! Way to ruin my lunch!

This is our dive bar. We are here at least once a week for food and drink at a very fair price :) Sue, the bartender, is awesome. A couple of the servers are a bit flighty, but it doesn’t stop us. Also ask about their reward card.

The mural on the wall was painted by 2 different artists, that really wound me up. It’s like the person who started it was charging too much so they hired some other local ass clown to finish it up. Bad decision, Hideout. Other than the half ass mural attempt, the pizza I had was haphazardly carrying on a legacy of mediocrity of bar pizzas, though the ingredients were fresh. When I was there there were some folks having a birthday party for their toddler which seemed odd because the baby really didn’t look old enough to drink, but it might have been a midget. A recent addition of the Dyson Xcelerator hand drier seemed to be the talk amongst regulars. Anywho, the waitstaff was nice, the beer was cold(enough) and reasonably priced. I left a generous tip because my waitresses shoes were quite dirty, that’s all.

I have changed my opinion, I think I’m starting to like Hide Out more than Renshaw’s. My husband and I had dinner and drinks here and we really enjoyed it. I’ve had their side salads in the past and liked the romaine lettuce they use in them – better than the crappy iceberg at Renshaw’s. This time, I found a veggie platter on the menu. It was chock full of fresh tomatoes, carrots, cukes, celery, and some black olives served with ranch dressing. My husband loved his calzone and my chicken gyro had just the right amount of tomatoes, onions, and tzatziki sauce. The best part is that their craft beer selection has expanded! Everything was reasonably-priced and our server was very friendly. We will be back!

Been here a couple times, but it is chill and the drink prices aren’t outrageous. The music is at a dull roar, so you can hear people talking. I know, it’s a crazy concept. It seems like more of a spot for laying low and being laid back. I never ate here so I can’t comment on that. Both times I was there it was never real busy.

First time here was this past Friday. Standard bar, standard bar fare… the service was just ok. I asked if there were any beer specials and the waitress asked what I wanted. Based on what I told her, she said no, but she could have at least run down the list of specials. I would have waited. Anyway, I ordered my 22 ounce glass of carona and some SW rolls. Again, nothing extraordinary. The food did what it was. supposed to do: absorb alcohol. The waitress recovered from indifference by bringing me hand sanitizer upon request(I didn’t the wash room). My and my friend’s bill $ 20. It was worthy of a $ 5 tip

Along with their awesome specials on Sunday nights, I went there for the first time last night to meet up with a buddy and this seriously has got to be one of the friendliest bars ever. It wasn’t as busy as it should have been with all the Sunday night specials, which include appetizers and drink specials, but at least two people(who seem to have been regulars) came up to my friend and I just to introduce themselves and told us to come back again. And one dude bought my friend a beer. Maybe it was just that night, but first impressions make a difference. After my friend and I had noticed how chill and friendly the place was we’re hoping to make this thing a weekly thing for us. The music was low enough to have actual conversations and hear the other person. The ambience was dim lighting and very chill. They also offer a variety of bar games like pinball machines etc. I definitely recommend this place! Who knows, maybe I’ll see you around!

The beer prices were good and our server was nice. The food wasn’t my favorite. I got chicken fingers and fries. fries were very plain and the chicken was hard to eat because of some tough bits: /But my friends burger looked very good and the fried mushrooms looked tasty too! I would go back but mostly for the drinks and service.

The Hideout is a great bar — Nothing special, nothing fancy, but just an overall good place to hang out. I go there every once in a while and am somewhat of a regular. The people that work there are cool, the drinks are good and cheap, and the crowd is solid. Not a snobby type place, just an all round good American bar. Food is decent, not great but not bad, but cheap The Hideout is a good place. Try it.
