Every time i come to town i come here to work out. so let me break this down into sections. Staff: The staff here from my interactions is great. There are tons of them and i see them interacting positively with everyone all the time. there are always multiple people at the counter to help everyone with initial needs. There is at leas 1 trainer walking around making sure no one is getting hurt and the pool has at least 2 on staff at all times. Your definitely going to be safe here and i have never heard of anyone complaining of the staff. Amenities: There is pretty much everything here. When you walk in the child care area is right in front for those to drop off their children. then the cardio area is to your left, basketball and rock climbing to your right and pool straight ahead. pas the cardio area is the weight lifting area. there is a running/walking track above the entire cardio area. There is also a kids play area and a very large aerobic/yoga area down the left hallway. Down the right hallway are the locker rooms. for the men there are 2 locker rooms One is for 18 and up and the other for the kids. The locker rooms are clean and fully equipped. when busy on occasion the mens locker room can get a little smelly but what locker room doesn’t. Needs: So there are at least 20 treadmills, 20 elliptical machines, 10 – 15 stationary bikes and then an assortment of stair climbers. There are around 15 or so weigh machines to work the majority of body parts for those not wanting free weights. For those that do there are 2 squat racks, 1 smith machine, 2 flat bench presses, 1 incline bench, 1 full size cable stack with the internal and external cable stations with 2 seated row and 2 pull down areas. there is a seated leg press, shrug machine, preacher curl station and a few other weight stations. all in all its definitely enough to get a full body weight workout in. sometimes it can get a little crowded. Other: I will say(i spend most of my time in the free weight area) and for the most part the people that work out here are pretty cool and down to earth. there are no real meatheads or doucebags here. I have never had any issues with anyone working out here. They have paper towels and disinfectant spray for every piece of equipment for all to keep things clean. Overall this place is pretty great for a small town YMCA. Its not huge and for a weight lifter doesn’t have all i need but it does do well in the big picture. i enjoy coming here.

This place is chill for C-ville. I enjoy the month to month option to cancel membership and it is one of the few facilities with an indoor pool on premises. It is pretty standard facilities for a membership gym. I am somewhat disappointed with the lack of free weights, bars, rubber weights, kettle bells and room to get down and crazy with some crossfit or mil athlete. I realize they are set up to cater to beach body lifters but it wouldn’t be that much effort to set up an area to partake in this style of revelry and fitness. Plenty of treadmills and specialty classes if you are into that sort of thing. All in all not bad for 40 a month.

The people are very friendly. There are a lot of things I like about going to the YMCA… The number one thing is that they listen to people, and make changes where and when necessary. I have heard that they are expanding, and that will be a good thing. Sometimes(especially in the cold months) there is quite a wait to get equipment, I wish that they would overhaul the restrooms/showers/changing area. They are fairly icky, and not nearly large enough. I also wish that there was a larger area for the kids to go. It seems as if they are like sardines on the play area outside.
