History
Established in 1994.
Stephen F. Daugherty, MD graduated Magna Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University in Nashville in 1975 and he earned his Doctor of Medicine, Cum Laude, from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta in 1979.
Dr. Daugherty developed the non-invasive hospital-based diagnostic vascular laboratory at what is now known as Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, Tennessee in 1996 and led the laboratory to achieve accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories in 1997.
Dr. Daugherty began transitioning his venous practice to minimally-invasive procedures in 1997 as technology allowed such procedures and founded VeinCare Centers of Tennessee in 2004. Since 2008, his practice has been limited to care of venous diseases including office vascular ultrasound, liquid and foam sclerotherapy, microphlebectomy, endovenous thermal ablation, venous thrombolysis, and angioplasty/stenting for chronic venous obstruction.

Stephen F. Daugherty, MD is a regular expert speaker at major national meetings of vein specialists and has been selected by the American College of Phlebology as a representative to the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission which is embarking upon developing an accreditation for vein treatment facilities, a process intended to improve the quality of care in vein centers. Dr. Daugherty was elected in November, 2012 to serve on the Board of Directors of the American College of Phlebology.
He is a contributing and associate editor for the Phlebology Forum, a publication of the American College of Phlebology which reviews recent journal articles with expert commentary. Dr. Daugherty also reviews scientific articles submitted for consideration of publication in the journal Phlebology.
