I was expecting a lady to come out from behind a curtain lookin’ like she don’t wanna work in a unkept building but, regardless of being out in a small town, this place is super clean, girl at the front desk is awesome! Don’t be scared to stay at this Super 8 if you’re ever down here in this part of Iowa.(peeps who travel and spend time in Super 8’s around Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Detroit will most def know what I’m talking about.)

This Super 8 was suggested by a contact at the business we were visiting. We spent two nights at the Clarinda Super 8 and found it to be clean, comfortable and quiet. The scenery isn’t much to look at: you’re basically surrounded by a fields and a few industrial businesses, but we weren’t there for the scenery anyway. The rooms appear to have been recently updated. The mattresses were comfortable, and my request for extra pillows and coffee cheerfully and quickly obliged. Good water pressure and temperature on the shower, which has an adjustable shower massage head that was much appreciated. They do use some kind of air-freshener/cleaner that seems sort of strong when you first walk into the room. Usually, I don’t like strong scents, but I found this one — which reminded me a little of sandalwood and eucalyptus — quite pleasant. Our king room had the usual tiny coffee maker, which got a work out, as well as a microwave and fridge. Lighting was good for working. The free wi-fi was fast with a good, strong signal. There’s complimentary coffee and tea in a little area of the main lobby, which provided a nice place to chat mid-day. The continental breakfast is the usual basic high-sugar, high-carb fare, but it’s fresh, well-stocked, and kept clean/neat.(There are freshly made waffles, which is always a nice smell first thing in the morning.) Check in and check out were a breeze. The parking lot is roomy and convenient. Staff is very pleasant and attentive. Very good value.
