One of my favorite Thai restaurants. The flavor here, for me personally, reminds me of Thailand. Many of my Thai friends have told me that this restaurant is quite authentic to the flavors of Thailand. Another great perk about this restaurant is that it is really affordable. Thai food in my area can be quite pricey. Whenever I go I usually order the Pad Thai with Thai Iced Tea. It is one of my favorite combinations! I would highly recommend this place! Also, don’t get too caught up with the crowd. Usually it is quite crowded, but they are quick to find you a table. If you are in the area, hit this place up!

Pretty simple, nothing fancy comfort food… but its good! So far I tried the Duck Salad, Salted Fish Fried Rice, their BBQ Pork rice and it was all pretty good. Expect long waits at peak time though, but worth the wait.

Our go to Thai restaurant. With the prices affordable and the quality great, it’s worth the repeat visits. Food: Our usual order consists of fish cake, pad Thai or pad see ew, and chapo(comes with soup, rice, duck, Chinese bbq, and fried pork belly). Everything we have is great and so flavorful. The fish cake is a little spicy and it has a certain taste, I think lemongrass, that throws my taste buds off but the rest of my family enjoys it. Their noodles are good, but I actually prefer the pad see ew over the pad Thai, as a personal preference. Plus, the pad see ew is served with plenty of Chinese broccoli and meat. The chapo is usually enough for 2 people with all the meat and rice it comes with and is my favorite dish at this restaurant. Restaurant: It is located in a plaza where parking can become a tad bit tricky but mainly because this place is popular and becomes really busy at dinner time, especially on the weekends. The restaurant looks and feels updated and modern, so it’s pleasant to eat here.

5 stars for the food. Super authentic and soo delicious. You also can’t beat the price for the quality and amount of the food. I give this 3 stars because their takeout service. On 3 of my calls for takeout I arrived and they completely forgot my order and never put it in. So you have to wait more than double the time for something you called in. The service is ok, when it’s not too busy. By the way, it’s always busy.

this place def lived up to the hype. we ordered the –grilled beef salad –pad thai shrimp –pad see ew beef –beef panang curry beef salad was interesting here since they gave you a wedge of the lettuce, the beef pad see ew here as everyone else mentioned was delicious, great flavor wasnt too sweet or salty. i loved how the pad thai here isn’t sweet as in many places that do it to for the american palate. the curry was also delicious(rice is extra though :() love how well priced everything is $ 7 – 8 for good portions, service was quick and friendly will def be back.

One of the best Thai restaurants I have eaten at. For such a nice looking place with good service, the prices are pretty cheap. My friend had the pad thai while I had the pad see ewe. Both were great.

tl;dr: Relocated to this newer place across the freeway a couple of years ago, it has a younger wait staff than before which probably helps draw in a diverse crowd. Menu is fairly extensive leaning towards common and less esoteric value-minded comfort food. Don’t let the crowd inside the door deter you from seeking a table, a lot of it is takeout… **** Never thought I would give this place another try even after a change of venue, I just never thought that highly of the service. I’m glad I did because it has a newer more modern, vibrant feel to it. The crotchety old ladies that used to wait on tables in the old location have been moved aside(probably in the kitchen) so that a new generation of wait staff can attend to the mostly younger mixed clientele. It never hurts to offer decent tasting Thai food at reasonable prices, a good portion of which is takeout judging by the huge crowds that congregate just inside the entrance everyday and evening. We came on a recent Saturday for lunch which was a little less crowded I think than the late dinner crowd… I always imagine that you have to go towards Hollywood to get the most authentic stuff but just on taste and value, Sanamluang does the IE okay, they’re aye. The Indian Curry Noodle Soup is a dish that we seldom order but has elements that we’re accustomed to in other places. The coconut milk based broth has an acidic sweet taste and an opaque, slightly oily appearance. The spiciness is variable to the customers taste and we asked for minimal heat. This way what small amount of heat there was is more aptly related to flavor than to discomfort. I got half of a hard boiled egg and I don’t know if my wife got the other half. I was expecting the beef to be more tender but in actuality it was quite tough and chewy. The kak rice noodles were strangely the best part of the soup to me, somewhere between glassy noodles and phở in texture, I found that there was just enough of it per serving to be satisfying… The Chicken Over Rice balanced the Curry Soup dish but was otherwise pretty bland. The chicken was dry and sorely needed the sweet chili flavor of the dipping sauce; even the cool crunch of the cucumber slices were welcoming. You could taste the slightly nutty, gingery taste of the rice which was actually better received than the actual chicken but this is not even as good as some of the worst Hainan chicken dishes I’ve had elsewhere. Unlike the soup, this dish is not worth repeating… Once over the newer furnishings, the service is friendly and a step up from what we experienced back in the old place, but they still appeared a bit slow but I don’t know if that’s the kitchen’s fault since they seem to get a lot of to-go orders too… The menu has enough diverse things on it that would interest me in coming back and they’re also open a little later than the other Thai places in the area which makes them more attractive as well…

The inside of this restaurant is super nice and has a modern feel to it. Apparently this is a new location too so great for them for landing such a nice spot right off the freeway. Been here a couple times now and I can say it’s one of the better Thai restaurants I’ve tried. Service is kinda slow however, but I mean the restaurant is pretty big so it’s probably due to that. Today was a bit extreme though, it took forever to get our food, and we even had to ask them to check on it twice. This made no sense considering that it was like past lunch time(around 2:15), and the place wasn’t even close to being packed. Once the first dish finally came out, we scarfed it down so fast that the other two didn’t even come out til we were practically done. The flavors of the food here are really developed, as I would expect from any Thai restaurant. I like how they have four different types of chili on the table for you to add as you please. I find that some of the dishes are kinda sweet, so adding the chili really helps to balance it out. Their menu is really dense and a lot of the dishes are actually really unique and worth the try. Will be back soon!

I’ve been going here since the early 90s, at thier old location down the street in Pomona. The new location has better parking and but the same amount of seating. They are not open as late as before. I like the pad Thai and pad see eww. It’s a bit noisier that the old location. The food is just as good, though their menu is still confusing.

Have been coming here since I was a wee lil’ girl. They’ve relocated in the past couple years to a better spot and a lot of people believed the quality of the food would be terrible but it’s actually even better than before! Honestly cant go wrong with pad thai, the pad see ew, spicy ground beef, pineapple fried rice, salty fish fried rice. The tom yum soup is hella delicious as well. Don’t forget to take some fried bananas and thai tea to go~

Oh Sanamluang, how I’ve missed you!!! We didn’t realize that you guys moved until we went to the old location(without checking Unilocal) and saw that it wasn’t there anymore. Heartbroken, DH pulled out Unilocal and saw that you guys moved up the street on the other side of the freeway and we drove to the new location ready to have some awesome thai food! We got several things: Som Tam — still yummy as ever. They also put a lot of dried shrimps! Garlic fried spareribs — awesome! love the fried garlic! Special Rad Nah — I’m sure I’ve had this before, but either way — Sanamluang’s version is really good! Pad Kra Pao — to go, still yummy the next day *drools* Anyways, if you’re in the area, be sure to hit this place up! Cause the other location is in Hollywood.

I probably come here once every 2 or 3 months when I come down to visit my parents. I’m not even considered a regular, but that waiter who I a 30-something Asian man, remembers me and my EXACT order; Tom Kha Kai soup vegetarian style, no broth just got water, less tofu, more mushroom, mild. I’ve tried so many other Tom Khas, but this place beats out every one I’ve ever tried. Aside from the fact that’s it’s amazing flavor wise, but it’s not a hassle ordering. The dude just gets it. Other Thai restaurants question me, and take me specifications as an insult. Wait time is usually faster than the time they expect you to wait. Get the mango sticky rice for dessert. Idc if you’re full. This is worth the food coma.

My parents recommended this place so I was hesitant because they’re my parents. Anyways, I’ve passed this location before it’s right by the freeway and from the outside it looks huge! Came in around dinner time and it was packed with families so clearly this place is popular but we still got seated right away. The server immediately got our drink order and I got my Thai Iced tea right away and it was perfect! I got shrimp pad thai, my parents got this beef soup thing and dried fish plate. Everything was delicious and everything was under $ 10 and the portions are shareable. I will be coming back here!

Overall: Amazing affordable food that’s worth the wait! This place is poppin’ even late at night! Parking: There is a big parking lot in the back. Interior: Contemporary and modern. Nicely lit up. Comfortable seating. Service: Friendly staff. We got seated about 15min later(had 6 people in our party)…and this was at 10pm. The food came out in like about 10−15min. Food: The time I went, the food was really good. I usually order pad Thai whenever I go to a Thai restaurant, but this time I decided to order pad-see-ewe. It was delish. And the portion was generous(I saved like about half for another meal). Pad-see-ewe had a good amount of flavor and you can choose among chicken, beef, shrimp. And of course, shrimp cost extra. I got the beef as my meat choice. My friends ordered all sorts of entrees… soup, noodle soup, chicken+rice, Thai-inspired spaghetti… and they all said the food was delightful. Price: $ 7 for pad-see-ewe. $ 7 for pad thai. Ratings: Really close to the Claremont packing house. Delicious. Yummy. Great price. Great portion. I would come here again if I’m ever in the area. HOWEVER one con I have is their bathroom sink. I was pretty grossed out to find specks food everywhere in there. It was disgusting…(people gargle and rinse their mouth…). I mean they can gargle and whatever but pleasee clean up after yourselves. I’m sure you don’t want to see others’ leftovers… But the rating is about the food and place. and not the customers so…5stars!

The restaurant is pretty spacious. However parking is very limited. We missed the turn and had to go all the way around to get back to the restaurant. The tom yum soup was delicious but be careful as the flame from the pot is exposed. Garlic pepper chicken could be better. It was kind of dry.

I must say the food here is quite delicious and I was concerned about the service here, but I was definitely wrong. Thank you Sanamluang Thai for having delicious dishes and quality service. Fried shrimp, fried chicken wings, papaya salad, pad see ew, pad kee mao, salty fish fried rice! My favortie dishes were the papaya salad, fried chicken wings, and the salty fish fried rice. BOMB

As I type this review, my husband and I are waiting be seated at this place. This is my second visit within a week. On my first visit(Wed), I went with one of my besties. We ordered the garlic short ribs, beef panang, pad woon sen, and pineapple fried rice. We had plenty of food left over. Everything was delicious! The short ribs drew me in again tonight(Fri). The beef panang would be just as awesome over some white rice. The pad woon sen was probably the best I had. The fried rice was the«least» best from our order, but still yummy! Menu has a big variety. Service was the good. Waiters eager to refill water and check in to make sure all is well. Parking does suck though. This place gets busy, but I think it’s worth it!

I just realized that I must really like Green Curry Beef coz I keep ordering this. Well, it was good. In fact, Sanamluang curry is SUPER good. I wish they could just sell it by itself and I would happily slather that on rice and just eat that. Nothing else needed. Also got the Curry Veggies and those were very good too. Pad Thai is always a safe bet. This branch is so much fancier than the Hollywood branch, the first Sanamluang I’ve been to. The other one fits the definition of «hole-in-the-wall» to a t. Also, this Sanamluang accepts credit cards unlike the Hollywood branch. This place is right off the freeway exit and has its own private parking lot.

Bland and dry sums up our meal. Pad Thai– bland Sanamluang Noodle– bland Papaya Salad– bland. I could barely taste the fish sauce. Bbq chicken– dry Pork ribs– dry So disappointed. The menu looked so promising and had so many choices. I guess that’s what happens when you have so many items, everything is just mediocre. Restaurant itself is nice looking.

Food was amazing– ordered chicken Pad See Ew, Tom Ka with chicken, and beef dish(can’t remember the name). All were classic Thai flavors which are super yummy. Restaurant was super nice looking; contemporary décor; clean. Dined on Sunday night. The place was crazy packed; like line out the door to get on the wait list and had to wait outside in the cold for a seat packed. The wait was only 20min for 2 people. When we sat down, felt a little too close to our neighbors. The servers were responsive when called upon, although left on their own, we had to wait a really long time to get our food, drinks, and order taken once seated. Overall, great experience and will come again if I’m in the area and in the mood for Thai.

This place should be called Nambibulent Fig, as that is exactly how I felt on my visit. I was anticipating a great meal, but instead I lived a hungry mans nightmare. I was seated in a bad area(kind of a walk-thru area) I was ignored and overlooked while other patrons who were seated after me received service first. After alerting my server twice and contemplating tackling him at the next opportunity, I decided just to leave and eat somewhere else as I was starving having waited over 30 minutes and didn’t receive even a glass of water by this point. I still give two stars as I know this place must be good as it is always packed.

Love the new location! Always been a fan of Sanamluang, both the Hollywood and Pomona locations. They recently relocated just down the street on Indian Hill, across the street from Kick Back Jack’s, to a bigger, brighter, cleaner location. I am diggin’ all the new upgrades and modern décor. Those lights you see when you walk in… love those! The hubs and I met for a lunch date last week, super busy on a Friday. If you’re in a hurry, i’d avoid the lunch rush or call your order in. Though busy, we were seated right away. We ordered the Chicken Fried Rice, Beef Pad See Ew(fav!) and Garlic Spare Ribs. Their fried rice dishes and pad see ew never disappoint. Full of flavor, perfectly portioned for both our bellies. No leftovers! The spare ribs however, were really disappointing. They were tiny, and hardly any meat on them! Mainly batter and bones. So either the Unilocal pics deceived me, or we just got the scraps. Boo! I knew we should’ve just gotten the fried pork belly. Service was fast and friendly. They continually kept our drinks refilled and again, though busy, our food came out pretty darn quick. Can’t wait to bring the family back here.

One of the better Thai restaurants in this area, pretty authentic. The menu is in Thai, the receipt is printed in Thai and the cooks and waiters are Thai, it’s like Hollywood in Claremont. I don’t know why I never think of reviewing this place but I really need to. I discovered this place right after they relocated and wow this place is amazing. The environment is very bright and clean. There are photos of Thai temples on the wall and all sorts of different traditional Thai decorations among the restaurant. Every time I come this place is always packed so be prepared but it’s so worth it. I I’ve tried at least half of the items on the menu and I am really please to say that they got me hooked!!! I’ve been to Thailand before and I am really picky when it comes to Thai food and Sanamluang meet my expectations. Hands down my new favorite go to Thai restaurant. Their pad see ew and pad Thai are THEBEST in town. Amazing food, friendly staffs and reasonable price so why not give it a try?

Nice place for dinner with the upscale décor and entrees for less than $ 10. I came with a group on a Friday evening and there was a 30 – 45 minute wait. Service was excellent from everyone we encountered. Likes: –Fried catfish. I’m not normally a fan of catfish, but love how crispy they fry the skin and the super spicy sauce it comes with. I could eat white rice in this sauce and call it dinner. –Salted fish fried rice. Pretty presentation, big portion, and perfect ratio of rice, egg, and fish. –Cashew chicken. Nice crisp veggies and tasty light sauce. –Same prices on the menu for lunch and dinner. Family style dishes. Dislikes: –Tom kha soup. I usually like coconut, but found both the coconut and especially the lime overpowering. –Panang curry with beef. The flavor was good, but the beef were cut in big cubes and wish it came with other veggies besides green bell peppers. –Having to pay $ 5+ for white rice. Parking was limited and space was tight, so I suggest grabbing the first spot you see open.

I can’t forget how amazing their Pad See Ew is! Although this place is super-packed, the prices are honestly worth it compared to other Thai restaurants! Pad See Ew — I’m not usually a fan of Pad See Ew just because there are so many other things on the menu that I would like to try, but the Pad See Ew is honestly amazing! The sauce is very strong compared to other Thai food places, and this dish is so amazing, I don’t really need a lot of condiments because it already has its own flavorful sweetness to it! Pad Thai — Pad Thai is a bit on the sour side(or perhaps I added too much lime.), but I really liked it. Normally Thai restaurants charge this dish for 8.75−11 bucks. Here it is only 7 bucks! :O I was so amazed when I found out about this. The Thai Tea is also very strong, not too sweet compared to other Thai restaurants. They also have quick service! Overall, you should definitely try this place. It’s worth the wait!

This place is awesome! I came in on a Sunday afternoon and there was a lot of people waiting which is a great sign. They have a huge menu so our server helped us and made recommendations. I had the chicken pad tai which was very good and the chicken Tom Kai soup(I think that’s what it’s called) and I loved it! Prices are affordable and good service. I’ll be back to this restaurant to explore the menu.

~3.5 stars Came here around 1pm on a Saturday. There were plenty of open tables available but they still made us wait about 10 minutes before we were seated. The service is really slow and the food took forever to come out so we had to ask for to-go boxes right away to make it back to work on time. We only got a few bites in before we had to leave. From what I remember, the food was pretty good and reasonably priced. We ordered the spicy mint leaf fried rice, the garlic pork spare ribs, and the pad see ewe with shrimp. They also provided decent portion sizes. I wasn’t completely blown away but that’s probably because I came in with very high expectations and the service was bad. I would recommend this place and will come back again in the future but I’ll have to make sure I give myself plenty of time to enjoy my meal.

What I ate: A little bit of everything Visit date: December 26, 2015 First time? To this location, yes. I joined my parents and their friends for a lunch here. Come by noon — it gets packed. We enjoyed the eggplant with tofu, pad see ew with beef, sweet and sour shrimp, pork ribs, combination fried rice, fried rice with dried fish, and chicken larb. This was plenty for five grown adults with appetites, and we left with lots of leftovers. My favorites were the chicken larb, pad see ew, and fried rice with dried fish. The chicken larb was a lovely balance of salty and sour. The more your eat, the more you want more. Ah! I ordered the pad see ew with beef because we already had a chicken dish and I was pleasantly surprised at how tender the beef was. Great dish! The fried rice and dried fish reminded me of vacations in the Philippines. This is the stuff champions eat for breakfast. Crispy fish bits with steamy rice. If you like things spicy, try the pepper sauce on the table. Then sip on a cold, refreshing glass of Thai iced coffee to cool your tongue. Parking is lot and ample. Great for groups and kids.

I had dinner here the other night and thought it was great. The menu is a little daunting because it’s dense. They offer a wide array of familiar Thai dishes along with less popular dishes for the more adventurous eater. My party and I ordered the following items: –green chicken curry($ 7.95) –spaghetti pad kee mao with chicken($ 6.95) –tom yun soup($ 11.95) –spicy catfish($ 8.50): deep fried slices of catfish cooked with red curry paste, chili, basil, and bell peppers. Whenever I order this dish, it’s always a hit or miss because the fish filet tends to be dry, but it was good here. There was enough crispiness without over drying the fish. The sauce was good poured over rice. Sanamluang serves good solid, Thai food in this area. This is a very budget friendly restaurant that serves most of its dishes family style. If you’re looking for a night out with your family, and you’re on a budget, do yourself a favor and stop by. They offer good flavors without any compromise to authenticity. I’ll definitely be back to sample more of their menu.

4.5 stars. Best thai place I’ve ever been to! I tried the vegetarian pad thai, broccoli fried rice, and vegetarian fried noodle. All of those dishes were just oozing with so much flavor! I fell in love with every single bite! I also really like how our server was on top of her game. My boyfriend had some specific requests for how he wanted the pad thai and our server was very friendly and efficient, which we really appreciated. Docking down 0.5 stars though because the portions of the main entrees were a bit on the small side and they didn’t really have a great dessert selection. I actually didn’t even get to see what kind of desserts they had because another server told us that they only had a shaved ice dessert which came in flavors red and green. He wasn’t able to tell us what the red and green flavors were, he just said the only difference was the color? To be fair, this was during Christmas day so they were very busy and it is possible there was some information that got lost in translation. But the red shaved ice dessert was actually pretty good, not to mention HUGE and only around $ 5? It reminded me of the Filipino dessert halo halo because it had a myriad of other things inside, such as lychees, jellies, and other small and tasty eats. I would just like to have other dessert options or at least a menu to choose from.

FRESH as it gets! I will confess, I tend to hesitate when trying new Asian restaurants as I have a horrible MSG allergy. Even places that say they don’t use it, I feel the after effects. I always feel like a champ after eating here. Sanamluang was introduced to me by a friend who is Asian and is expert on Asian cuisine. I completely agree that from the fresh, fair prices and large menu, this place is worth five stars. So here’s what lights my fire: Chicken over Rice– I call this their diet meal, but the sauce it comes with is both flavorful and perfectly pairs with the steamed chicken. I feel full after eating this, but it’s for sure the diet friendly option Drunkin Noodles w/basil– these are pan fried and oh so good. I get mine with pork or tofu, you will not be disappointed with the veggies and noodles all fresh, big portion too. I order mine at a level 6 and am happy. I think their level 8 – 10 must be blazing, I love spicy so just sayin… Thai iced tea– yes, it’s terrible for you. But unlike many places their version does not taste like sugar and cream. The tea flavor is actually very robust and tasty Mango and Sticky Rice– EPIC and my favorite dessert of all time. The warm sweet rice made with coconut milk(almost like a rice pudding but a bit denser) pairs amazingly well with the fresh mango. For those of you who haven’t tried, you must. Overall, this clean, quick and pleasant dining experience at Snamluang is highlighted by their great and fresh food. I always see real Thai people eating here, so I take that as a good sign.

A must try! Picked up a few party trays from here Thursday night at 5:05pm. Otherwise never eaten here. I ordered the day before and they were a bit slow on answering questions,(phone call took longer than anticipated) but have to say I’m happy with my experience. They said they only need about 2 hours notice for party trays! I just wanted to play it safe. My requested pick up time was 5pm. When I picked up service was super quick, the food was ready & warm. The waiters helped me bring everything to my car. Wish they had catering/party tray menu available online so we don’t have to waste time calling and waiting for questions to be answered. For the food: $ 75 for large trays which feed 17 people. $ 35? For small trays which feed 7 people. We had plenty of leftover even though I bought enough for the exact head count! The beef pad see ew was by far my favorite. It is my usual go to dish. But it tastes special here! Highly recommend. The vegetarian pad Thai was pretty good. But not a fan of vegetarian anything.(I’m all about the PETA life: people eating tasty animals) The vegetarian salad was good too! No idea if it was fried tofu or fried rice noodle, everyone loved it! I just love bean sprouts. You’d be missing out if you’ve never tried Thai food from here! Oh and yummay hot sauce!!!

Sanamluang’s spicy scale is very fair. The Duck curry tasted sweet, flavorful, contained bellpeppers and pineapples. Curry does NOT come with rice. I wouldn’t recommend Pad-see-ew here due to its average taste. Definitely try the Pineapple Fried Rice or the Spicy Mint Leaves Fried Rice.
