Project THINK

Wonderful summer program. My son attended preschool prior to this program, and every time I picked him up from school, I would ask him how his day was, etc. He always answered «Good» or 1-​word answers. At Project Think, every time I picked him up, he was so excited to tell me about this day, what he learned, all of the activities he did, the guest speaker presentations, his amazing teachers. etc. — all with such enthusiasm — he is so happy there! He loves the swimming too. Great addition to the morning academic program. Highly recommend it!

Project Think was recommended by my daughter’s second grade teacher to give her more challenge and engagement. We signed her up for both the overall morning program and the afternoon Drama program. She started as a student the summer before third grade and continued through eighth grade. She truly engaged and blossomed – wished she could go full-​time – and discovered a love and talent for Drama that will last a lifetime. She now is in her second year of volunteering as a high school student. This is truly an enriching program. It engages all the senses through project based work, is especially tailored for intelligent and precocious kids who need something more, and can be a progressive growth opportunity for your child even into high school. As a parent, I highly recommend this program.

My 12-​year-​old brother participated in Project THINK for 2 summers and I believe it served him well, particularly in his social skills. I like how the students, instructors, and staff are diverse in their culture and experiences. Students can participate in various academic enrichment courses that are focused on mind stimulation and engagement so that learning can be continued during the summer and their school-​year education won’t be lost. I’m impressed at the number of students, volunteers, and teachers that return year after year. Most of the volunteers of Project THINK have been students in the past. This non-​profit has been operating in Claremont for 35 years now and it speaks volumes to the quality of program since it lasted this long.

I don’t normally write reviews, but I had to share what a positive experience I had for both myself and my son at Project THINK. I attended the program as a child and was so pleased to see that it’s still the same high-​quality enrichment program I remember! The teachers and staff are warm and welcoming, I could see my son felt very comfortable with them. The afternoon daycare option was great for me as I’m a working parent. My son participated in both visual arts and swimming, but the swim program is what I rave about most. I’m so grateful they’ve taught my son swim safety… such a peace of mind! On the first day my son had tears and would not even enter the pool, but by the end of the swim session he was trusting his instructors to hold him and was even paddling on his own! I’m so confused by the negative reviews because I had a very different experience… totally worth the money!

My son is sad that the summer program is almost over. He said he wishes he could attend it all year long instead of regular school. i am amazed at the learning that has taken place in such a short time.

This program is great, I don’t understand the negative reviews. I went to Project Think when I was a child and now my kids who are in Young Thinkers are attending for their first time and say this is the best summer they have ever had! I am amazed at the amount of work that my kids have been doing and the amount of knowledge they have gained about the ocean! My kids will be sad when this session is over and so will I!

My son attended a 3 week summer program 3 years ago. The program seems to be popular among local residents. There were so many kids with parents during the first day of the camp. Kids choose their classes, switch classrooms for each subject and spend around 4 hours Mon-​Fri. They also have an extended day care until 6pm, which is extra. The program is not cheap, although it is a non-​profit; promises academic improvement and a better motivation for kids.
I personally think that was a waste of money. The Open House at the end of the program was so lame. Most of the classes were closed, the only classes we could check out were the computer lab and drawing class. No promised visible results to show to parents, all of the parents were trying to see what their kids were doing for 3 weeks and nothing. No administration during the Open House. Just a few young people (high school students?) who work part-​time during their summer break who had no idea where were the class instructors and why the classes were locked. :(
So if you are looking for a summer camp just to babysit your kids, go for it. But if you are looking for an academic improvement, scientific experience, new learning experience, then look for something else.
