Specialties

MIDDLE TREE is a non-profit organization that seeks to make affordable education financially accessible to those who need. We are not just a tutoring institution. We are building community. Middle Tree meets students at any education level and at every age to begin their road to success, unlike the conventional tutor programs that teach straight out of a textbook and cost hundreds of dollars even just for one session. In the normal education system, everybody is expected to learn things the same way, but we are individuals and Middle Tree encourages kids’ to successfully use their unique learning talents. Middle Tree offers not only tutor (private and group settings), but also SAT/ACT classes, free financial aid workshops, college counseling, writing workshops, summer camp packages, and specific school subject classes.

MIDDLE TREE is always looking for reliable, dedicated, enthusiastic tutors, teachers, web designers/developers, programmers, administrators, assistants, marketing

History

Established in 2010.

Courtesy of Claremont Courier Newspaper:

«A new Claremont endeavor was launched this summer, the nonprofit Middle Tree Academy, with the aim of making top-notch academic support and college preparation affordable for all students. We’re not just tutoring. We’re building community,» Middle Tree’s CEO/Director Joseph Atman said. ‘I think education is done improperly on the whole. There’s too much of a focus on tests and workbooks… In the normal education system, everybody is expected to learn things the same way, but we’re individuals,’ he continued. ‘We want to flush out our students’ individuality and help them learn in individual ways.”

Business Owner

Joseph Atman is Middle Tree’s chairman and CEO, and a co-founder of Middle Tree Academy. As a published writer, philosopher, theologian, teacher, and musician, Middle Tree Academy is Atman’s fully-realized educational dream

Hailing originally from Barrington, Illinois, he went on to Hofstra University’s New College in New York to receive both his B.A. and M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies, with concentrations in writing and philosophy. While at Hofstra he had the good fortune to work for his beloved New College as the assistant to the dean, where he learned the day-to-day operations involved in running an academy as both an administrator and an instructor.

After receiving his Master’s degree, he accepted an offer from Claremont Graduate University’s School of Religion, where he’s currently a PhD Fellow in the Philosophy of Religion and Theology. He also has a doctorate in sacred theology from Saint Mary’s seminary.
