Iron Works Gym

This is a very decent gym! My father gave me a six month membership and my time here was pleasant. Members check in at the desk and there is a rack to hang your keys once you check in. The gym is kind of dark but I don’t mind, I do t want people watching me while I work out anyways. It’s s pretty small gym but it was never crowded and their equipment was always clean. The trainers are very helpful and are willing to help at anytime. It was my first and very pleasant gym experience.

I enjoyed the fact that Iron Works was small and it is never really crowded. It was fairly close to my house, was clean and had a good vibe — which is why they get 2 stars.
However, what a nightmare to work with! I moved in July, came in, talked face to face with one of the «owners» and told him I needed to cancel my membership. He wrote it down, put something in the computer, said it was taken care of and even hand wrote a note for me to send in — because… you know… the other notes are not sufficient enough?!? — (Totally unorganized). Not only did they NOT cancel my membership… and I am STILL BEING CHARGED (It’s February, people) but I can’t get ANYONE to call/​email me back. I have called a dozen times, emailed. I am not able to go in. I fought the charges through my bank and lost because the gym said I never cancelled! and had paperwork??? I haven’t stepped foot in that gym since July~! So I sent in the stupid handwritten note — which is the ONLY proof that I have of the conversation.
This is a great gym if you stay forever, but if you ever want to leave, their inability to process that simple request is beyond frustrating. Never again.

Great gym love the actual weights not just the padded ones you get at other gyms. I come in the mornings and I use any machine I’d like. The monthly price is low and it’s in a great area!

Sign a year contract and when it’s up they tell you that it is an «endless» contract. Then you try to cancel your membership and they tell you that you need to send a letter signed In the blood of your first born written on leap year with a felt pen. Before you know it you’re reporting the gym charges fraudulent because you’ve canceled months ago but they keep charging you. The gym itself is pretty filthy. No one really cleans. The trainers are annoying. Customer service non existent. Always empty is the only plus really

They seem too comfortable not making an effort to be friendly with anyone other than longtime gym goers.

Looks okay as a basic workout gym, but there is an odd and unpleasant vibe to the place, the lighting is dark, just not inviting.
However, the real problem is at least one staff member who exhibits serious rage issues, maybe it’s the steroids. Ownership should consider anger management classes.
Avoid, despite it’s nice location.

Great little gym in a very nice area. At first it may seem like there is not a lot of cardio machines, but there are always plenty open at any time. There are also a lot of weights for training. whether you are looking for free or machines, they have a good variety. This gym is both for the hardcore and those that take working out seriously. There is some socialization occurring from staff as well as members, but fitness comes first. It has its peak periods, late afternoon to early evening. Some of the people that work out here are meat heads and a little douchy, but there are a lot of normal people who are into fitness. Most of time staff is not friendly, but they are not rude either. Only a couple will greet you or tell you goodbye. Overall I really do like this gym. It is way better than 24, LA fitness, or Crunch. This gym is perfect for showing up, working out, and going home.
I have seen some recent one star ratings given and yes they bring up some good points. However, I question their authenticity since both of these accounts have Iron Works as their only review.

This is a great smaller gym in the quaint city of Claremont. I especially liked the fact that its a no frills gym where people go to seriously work out. I saw a few well built older gentlemen doing their routines in there that was inspiring to me. I told myself that if I look half as good as them when I grow up, I’d be as happy as a field hand on his day off…
Guest pass is $ 10.00 a day. I am unsure of the membership options since I was just visiting. It’s well worth your time to try this place out if you are tired of the overpriced & overhyped chain clubs.

I did a week pass at Ion Works, and thankfully I did, I would have been pretty angry if I had paid to work out here… The facility itself is nice, clean, and the equipment is in great shape. My complaint is the employees. I was only greeted two of the seven days I worked out here. I am not asking you to roll out the red carpet, but a little friendliness goes a long way for customer service.
One morning there was a female employee speaking to members about another member, she stated she was going to beat up this girl if she came in… You are an employee! Talking to members about another member, not smart! That was enough of a turn off, but watching «Personal trainers» pay more attention to their cell phones than members… I joined another gym, and am so much happier than I would have been at this horrible place.

I came to Iron Works after having vitriolic accusations of training my friend at the 24 Hours Fitness in San Dimas. The coup de grace was when the corporate office condoned the outrageous behavior of the trainer. At that point, my friend and I started to look for other alternatives.
Enter Iron Works Gym. This is a bare bones gym that offers mostly weights with some cardio machines. The staff is friendly and has never bothered me once. The membership is an inexpensive $ 29 per month. If you are looking for a place that offers pools and tennis and other options, you may want to check out the Claremont Club, however, the prices there are far more expensive.
The only criticism I have of the place is that some of the machines don’t appear to be well maintained. If it wasn’t for this fact, I would have given it 5 stars.
