Won’t return. They only do take out when they feel like it. One day it’s fine, the next they refuse. The vibe is ‘we don’t need your business as much as you want our food’! Also, last visit I paid for my meal with a debit card. My bank statement listed total as $ 2 more than I signed for? Their food is not worth the angst of ‘dining’ here.

We have been here more than a handful of times and it never disappoints. The dish that they have that is different than others we have tried locally is the blue crab hand roll which is my favorite. The other rolls are tasty but the blue crab hand roll is what keeps us coming back for more. The service is good. We have been fortunate to always get a friendly waiter/waitress and we never have to wait to be seated which is always a plus.

The food was really good but the wait could be long. The waitress was super nice and I loved my chirashi.

All I can say is that I don’t understand the 4 stars… Tempura, quality of the fish, portion… All disappointed. One star goes to the fresh salad…

Try the Combo dinner… perfect bargain. Each time I have gone the experience is good. I think the Sashimi is a bit on the upper dollar side but that doesn’t bother me. Again, see you there!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. It is a small location in a plaza across the street from Sprouts. Their sushi is alway very fresh and they have a good fish to rice ratio. Their lunch and dinner combinations are a great deal. You can pick a 2 or 3 item combo for $ 12 or $ 13 I forgot the price. The only negative is their portions of the chicken teriyaki are a little small. The service is great and food is always served quickly. The other plus here is that they serve their kids meals in a fun little race car!

The first time I went to this place it wasn’t bad. I ordered a bento box and it came with two items. Had the salmon teriyaki and the tempura. Decent portion and good quality for a reasonable price. However, today I ordered the sea salt salmon and pork Katsu and the portion was half of what I had last time.

Hayato Sushi has the freshest sushi around and the chefs create delicious dishes with visual appeal as well. I love chirashi sushi deluxe. I travel quite a bit to San Francisco and order chirashi at every sushi restaurant I eat at. Far and away the best freshest chirashi I have ever eaten is at our local, Hayato Sushi. The restaurant is also clean and friendly with a lively sushi bar. The staff is also welcoming and prompt. For many of us in Claremont, this is our regular«Cheers Bar.»

This place is soo good. I couldn’t believe I found a Japanese-owned and operated SUSHI joint. I’ve only sat in the sushi bar, ordered the specials and was extremely impressed. Reminded me of my old favorite that has since went into retirement. This place is so close to my house, I am definitely a regular here now. This is for true sushi fans, japanese owned and fresh!

Great food, cheap prices, EXCELLENT fish! I was craving zaru soba, and no other japanese restaurant in the area seemed to serve it, so I went here. I was really satisfied with it! Also, for 3 dollars more, you can get a mini chirashi bowl!(I happen to get a piece of toro in mine… so good!) Really great place and location wise, very excellent!

Nice little local Japanese restaurant. Good salmon collar, udon, tonkatsu. When we want good food that is not pretentious, we often end up at Hayato.

We love Hayato! My husband and I have been coming for years now and really do not stray. Everything here remains the same, which keeps us coming back. The sushi is amazing and fresh, absolutely the BEST, the service is excellent and everybody is super friendly. Great food and wonderful company!

This place has the absolute best udon soup I have ever had. My friend swung by to pick some up for me while I was sick, and the broth was the perfect thing to settle my stomach and warm me up. The noodles are the perfect texture, too! Definitely going to come back to dine in!

Decent food but poor service. Sat with empty water glasses for 45 minutes– waitresses were nice but inattentive.

Small and quiet with elevator music. Makes me feel fancy. Hidden in a small shopping center in Claremont off Route 66. Customer service was friendly, tentative and helpful. Ordered wagyu beef tataki, salmon, amber jack, blue fin tuna sushi, asparagus tempura, miso soup, and shishito peppers. I loved everything. It was fresh and everything came out pretty quickly after we ordered. There are two other parties here also. We are the first customers for dinner. Will be back. YUMMMMM

Great ambiance that feels like you’re really in Spain. The tight spaces, dim lighting and dingy feel(obviously by design) can be found in alleys and down darkened streets in Madrid. A great experience with food and drink to match!

Hayato’s has the best and most authentic Japanese food in Claremont. Excellent quality fish, especially if you prefer sashimi. I love the lunch combos(often get Cali roll with salmon) which comes with miso soup, salad and rice. I also love the chicken curry with rice dish and tempura udon soup. For appetizer I like the agedashi tofu… so silky and smooth texture. I have also sat at the sushi bar for dinner and had chef’s specialties. Service is good usually. The restaurant is small but cosy. Go. To. Hayato’s.

Quaint, authentic and adorable sushi spot in Claremont! I met up with a friend from the Claremont colleges for a quick catch up session, he suggested this spot and it was a great suggestion! To be honest, I never knew this spot was here even though I went to sushi cruise next door multiple times! The sushi chefs and servers are Japanese, authenticity check! Parking: copious parking, IE land wins! Service: attentive and kind service from a super nice waitress. We stayed until 15 before closing time and they never hushed us out. Food: –I got the nabeyaki udon $ 9.95: it came with a lot of meat and vegetable, it was very filling and satisfying for a random cold may night. 5⁄5 — my friend got the salmon teriyaki $ 7, he says it’s his favorite thing there. It comes with miso soup, side salad for a great price. The portion seems a bit small to me though… Or maybe I’m just a fatty. –calamari appetizer $ 5: it was decent! Small pieces of calamari but the crispiness was just right 4⁄5 Overall, it was a nice dinning experience. I definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends in the area :)
