This place has great service — I got acrylics and Tee really knew what she was doing. She also gave some good recommendations for colors. Will definitely come back!

Tanu threads my eyebrows/​face and she always does an immaculate job. Always painless and very quick. She has accommodated me every time I’ve walked in without question. Nice vibe in the salon, and also clean and tidy.

This was my first time getting my nails done in Claremont, and I’m happy I picked Hands Down! I got gel nails, and they look great. The pedicure was relaxing and thorough, and it was comparable to my favorite place back home. I’m happy that they have a student discount as well, because it is a little expensive. Overall I’d recommend this nail salon.

I, like other reviewers, have no clue how this nail salon has good reviews. The ladies that work here are SLOW. I had a pedicure and gel manicure done. Ana did my pedicure and it felt great, very relaxing! That was about the only positive part about the whole experience. Tanu did my manicure and she kept getting up and leaving to answer the phone (her personal cell phone!) and she even took a threading client while she was working on me. That was incredibly annoying.
I only came here to try it out and because I work nearby. I regret coming. I will stick to Classy Nail where I would have paid half the price for a far superior product.

I went it to have a set of acrylics done and I was blown away by how amazing this salon is. Lan did my nails and she was so gentle and so thorough and I was incredibly pleased with the results. While Lan was doing my nails, Tanu was there as well and they were both so incredibly nice to me, I really enjoyed my visit. I absolutely plan to keep going there! I’m so pleased I found such an amazing place so close to where I live!

Wow… I’m about to go change all the 5 stars I’ve left for other nail salons. This place is the place. Wow I was impressed at how natural they make my nails look. I came in with nasty acrylics I got done, they were thick and some nails were not the same size. Krystal made sure to made them look so nice and thin, so natural, sooooo nice. I was so impressed so happy with the end product. Although a bit more expensive for the gel, it didn’t hurt because it was so awesome. So amazing. I am so happy. I will be coming back!!! Thanks Krystal, you’re the bombbbb!
Update: Two of my nails have broken. Maybe too thin isn’t a good idea. Some of the gel is chipping off too wtf, this is not what I paid for!

I organized a beauty and destress event at Pomona College Women’s Union and wanted to get someone to thread eyebrows for the event. Everyone at my college is a huge fan of Tanu, so I asked her to come. She was incredible! Tanu did an awesome job. She stayed for two hours and did around 20 people’s eyebrows. The experience was a lot less painful than I’ve ever experienced before and everyone was super happy with how Tanu did their eyebrows too! Great job! I’m definitely coming to go to Hands Down and get my eyebrows done by Tanu again.

Can’t say enough about this little gem! You will be treated like a queen/​king right when you walk through the door. Tee, Matt and Lena were great! So many choices to make as for nail polishes.

My first pedicure since 2012 done by the very nice lady which I’m satisfied with the work and results which is the spa treatments with a wax to remove the bad stuff. Music they play when I went was classic R&B slow jams, btw.
They take walk-in’s, do work for men and women and offer other work including lash extensions, brow threading and wedding package.
Hope there is one like this nearer to me to go more often to lots of time on my feet at work and other places. Until then I’ll be back!

I don’t even know how this place has good reviews. This is the worst place I have ever been to in my life! I do my nails all the time and I have never taken the time to write a review but I feel like no one should have to experience what I went through and coming to do their nails here. Hands down the WORST place!

I went to the new location on Yale ave. and it was absolutely amazing! Service is amazing, workers are so sweet and do an incredible job. Especially Thy, she is a wonderful with helping you pick out the perfect color and is also truly talented at design! Such a great, relaxing experience

I visited the new location at 234 Yale, which opened on January 2^nd. «Hands down too». First of all, this salon is absolutely beautiful. Stylish, attractive and definitely clean. The staff is amazing and friendly, and they all speak great English. They make sure you are comfortable throughout the entire process.
The salon is a little pricey $ 32 for gel mani and $ 32 for pedicure with a student discount. However, for the location and the sophistication of the salon, it is definitely reasonable and worth it!
They have a great selection of gel colors, and are willing to help you find your perfect color.
They did get a little busy at one point, but they jumped around to make sure everyone was being helped by someone at all times. Each nail technician that helped me gave me more attention and care than I ever expected.
I don’t live in Claremont, but I would definitely consider driving back here just to get my nails done again!
PLUS their massage chairs are AMAZING. I could sit here for hours. One of the best I’ve been in!
(They have 10 chairs too, which is great for groups!)

T and Lena are great! I have short nails and they did a wonderful job of giving me length with their technique! No glued on tips here, they do it differently with these strips! Much healthier for my nails. This will be my new nail spot!

Finally came in as hoped for a shellac manicure. Walked in on a weekday and was services immediately. Again love that they wrap for 10min before removing the gel so that my nails suffer the least damage.
Joey was my manicurist and by far the best attention to cuticles I’ve had (and I’ve had a lot of gel/​shellac manicures). She took the time to curette my nails so that the polish would be flush with the cuticle and very smooth. She was also patient when I kept harassing her about the shape of my nails.
This is my first post engagement manicure and I think it was just about perfect! Couldn’t be more satisfied.

Best experience I’ve had at a nail salon that I can remember! Monica did my manicure, she was so nice and she did an excellent job! Hanna did my pedicure which also came out spectacular. Tanu did my threading… I had never used threading before, but I will from now on! Especially here, she was so quick, and also sincerely nice as well!
All in all I loved this place! From the lighting to décor to the staff! I will definitely be back!
