History

Established in 1946.

Maxwell’s Flowers and Gifts was born in 1946 when Bill and Dorothy Maxwell purchased Louise’s Flower Shop in downtown Clare, MI. Over the years, many things have changed, but Maxwell’s Flowers has remained the premier florist in the Clare area.

In the years since Bill and Dorothy’s retirement, the new owners remained dedicated to growing the business and serving the needs of Clare. Customer service has always been a cornerstone of the business.

In 2012, Steven Barnes became the fourth owner in Maxwell’s Flowers 66 year history. Since then, Maxwell’s Flowers support of the community and dedication to customer service has become stronger than ever. In the fall of 2012, the coffee garden was remodeled and transformed into «Friends and Coffee», Clare’s only full service coffee shop. In 2013, homemade candies and chocolates were added. Maxwell’s Flowers is proud to continue the tradition of being voted Clare County’s favorite florist again this year!
