This HMO hospital are all frauds they physically abused me when I had surgery in 2011 and they’re getting away with it I had stuff put in me while I was asleep surgicaly and ripped out when I had no anasthesia when I was awake on the table. Richard Steinberg is a fraud and he should be paying up what he did to me. For years I was hurt and I still am inside my body and he deserves to be fired and pay up. the people here are really lazy and completely rude overall I’m happy I left them years ago from Portland Oregon to Ohio the worst

Just signed up for Kaiser insurance, and am already regretting it! From reading the rest of these reviews, it looks like I’m not alone.
I called to schedule a new patient exam and cleaning, and was told there were none available. WHAT??? They said to call back if I haven’t heard anything after a week. She said hopefully by then new scheduling blocks would be released. ???
Am I missing something? They signed me up for the insurance no problem, but then they don’t even have the appointment? Maybe they need more dentists!
It took 15 minutes on the phone talking to two different people (being asked a ton of questions!) to find out that I can’t even schedule an appointment because there are none available? Why don’t they get a bigger clinic, or more dentists?
I spent 30 minutes yesterday signing up for a doctor appointment online. At the end of it all, I was told I would get a response within 24 hours.
So I’ve spent 45 minutes on the phone and on their website (aside from all the sign-​up paperwork) and still don’t even have an appointment!
Tons and tons of questions, lots of verifying my health record number (over and over again to every different person I talk to) and nothing.

I’m giving this dental office one star because Unilocal does not have an option for 0. I will say the secretary staff and nurses are nice however the supervisor and medical service is horrible.
A month ago I went in for a check up and to my surprise I was told I had 6 cavities and a failed root canal. This shocked me! Especially since at my last check up a year ago I had 0 cavities. I went against my gut and decided to go ahead with treatment. I had the 6 cavities filled over the course of 3 appointments. And made an appointment with a kaiser specialist for the revision root canal /​possible tooth extraction. A few days after my last appointment I started having very severe pain the right side of my jaw (upper and lower). Everyone including me thought this was pain from my «failed» root canal so I made a morning appointment with my dentist followed by an afternoon appointment with an endodontist outside of the Kaiser system. I saw the dentist in the morning and she checked out the top right of my mouth and said she couldn’t figure out where the pain was coming from. I said it seemed like it was the tooth she had just worked on and she replied that she couldn’t tell for sure.
Later that afternoon I went to the endodontist who took an X-​ray and told me that my root canal was fine and that I didn’t need a revision or an extraction. He also said that he thought my pain was coming from the tooth she had just filled a cavity on. And looking at the X-​ray the filling was touching my root which was causing the pain. Long story short, he did the root canal and told me to follow up with Kaiser to get the crown.
When Kaiser called to book the appointment for the crown they informed me it would be an additional $ 50. This is when I reached my breaking point with this office. Not only had they mis-​diagnosed a tooth that was completely fine, drilled a cavity that should have been a root canal leaving me in severe pain for a week, they were now trying to charge me for a filling I had for less that a week and the crown for the root canal. I spoke with Sheba Oaks the supervisor of the office and explained that I was willing to pay for the crown and root canal but that I should not have to pay for the filling that was in my mouth for less than a week. The cavity should have been a root canal to begin with. The the dentist mis diagnosed me and performed an unnecessary procedure and it was not fair to make me pay for her mistake. The supervisor laughed multiple times on the phone and was extremely unprofessional. She made statements like «We don’t do work for free» and «Were not going to give you money back for nothing», all while laughing as she spoke to me.
When I said that I didn’t think the situation was funny and I asked to speak to her supervisor she gave me the Kaiser appointment number and a wrong number for the supervisor. I filed a complaint with member services and put in to be transferred back to the Kaiser Dental office on Grand. I will NEVER return to this office.

Very friendly staff. Highly recommended. First dental office I’ve been to in a long time that put my mind at ease.

I will say that the admissions people at this location are nice enough. I haven’t made it past them because the wait times at the urgent care are always in the hours; weeks for a PCP.
My company and I pay a small fortune for healthcare at Kaiser, but their policy of making healthcare inaccessible so that symptoms must be endured until they’re adapted to, is not working for me anymore. I’m sure it’s keeping their costs low, however.
I should quit my job and get someone who bills Medicare, maybe then I’ll get to see a doctor I’m a reasonable amount of time.

Although I thought it would be weird for me to write a review regarding Kaiser, I felt that it was necessary to write about my experience in the emergency room.
I injured my ankle the other night during an indoor soccer game. We made the smart decision not to wait it out and immediately drove over to the ER. Lucky for us (I guess?), it was a Friday night at about 8pm– there were few people waiting for service ahead of me. However, I sort of felt that maybe since my ankle was swollen to the point it looked like a grapefruit, I may have needed to be looked at sooner than other folks. After about 50 minutes of agony in a wheelchair, they finally called me in. I was told I would be put on the «fast track» service…
Long story short-​I had broken two bones in my ankle. The nurse and doctor were FANTASTIC (Dr. James Wood and Jeremy). Although I was frustrated, not to mention in severe pain, I knew there was no point in being short or impatient with the doctor and nurses.
I would like to think that because I was respectful and had a sense of humor about the whole thing, the staff seemed a bit more down to earth when interacting with me. Not to say that their service or professionalism was any way decreased, I kind of think they interacted with me with a bit more courtesy. I think people tend to forget that the staff at Kaiser are people too, and should still be treated that way.

I know people rave about Kaiser but in my first experience, after checking in, they lost me in their system and even though my appointment was the very first of the day, somehow it started over an hour late. All I essentially needed was a refill on an old, old prescription and the whole thing is passing the 2 hour mark now. What a messed up system.

We have been Kaiser members for several years and, between me and the man folk, we have had three surgeries.
Each time, we have been SO happy with the level of service we have received from the surgeons, nurses all the way down to the doctors offices.
The staff is always caring and ensure that the level of pain is manageable. They are all about «staying ahead» of the pain. They use a schedule of 1 to 10 allow the patient to specifically describe the actual level. It’s very helpful.
The Sunnyside location is convenient and all inclusive. Our copay for this current adventure was $ 100 which is including at least a one night stay.
With the current fear and turmoil of health care, I feel safe with Kaiser and I literally trust them with my and my husbands health.
First class surgeons, friendly staff, reasonable cost, convenient locations, it’s a no brainer for me.

I went yesterday to the ER for a post-​dural puncture headache. My nurse Kayleen was super friendly and very nice (despite me being a tad on the b***y side due to the pain level), and the nurse anesthetist who did my epidural spinal patch was also very friendly and helpful.
I got quite a few needle sticks, but none really hurt, so 5 stars on technique!
In general I really like how Kaiser has everything linked together on their online system, so it’s pretty nice not having to worry about transferring documents. Almost everyone I’ve met at Kaiser has been top notch!!!

If you’re really sick go somewhere else!!! Long time medical provider I went in for three visits in resp distress. Thought I’d be admitted but was told they don’t have anything to offer me and the pulmonologist couldn’t see me she didn’t have anything else to add. Sent me to main hospital to get scripts and they wouldn’t add my insurance and wanted cash after making me wait. Avoid at all costs.

There today for some computer work… Everyone was so friendly. All smiles and helpful.

While I would strongly discourage using Unilocal to find good medical care, I’m sufficiently opinionated to leave a few thoughts about Kaiser Sunnyside for the curious and/​or afflicted. (Call 911 if you have a medical emergency.)
My three-​star rating for this hospital amounts to a combination of two separate ratings: two stars for the ER, four stars for the cardiac center.
The attitude in the ER is very much conveyor-​belt medicine, with very little compassion on the part of the nurses, and rough, almost cavalier treatment by the test administrators (blood, X-​rays, etc). It’s clear these folks are a) not paid well enough, b) stretched thin, or c) insufficiently inspired by Kaiser management to treat patients with dignity and respect. Probably a combination of all three, I imagine. The ER physicians are the one exception, with great bedside manner and attentiveness despite their limited diagnostic ability. If you need emergency care, you can do much better (Legacy comes to mind).
As for the relatively new cardiac center, I had a uniformly excellent experience there, from the care and consideration of the nurses to the professionalism of the cardiologist and his team. It was clear throughout the medical procedure that these were highly skilled, intelligent, and good-​natured people; I was especially moved by the «time out» that occurred beforehand, where the entire staff stopped what they were doing to listen to the cardiologist describe me and my situation. This display of humanism in a high-​tech medical environment was immensely reassuring. Kudos to Kaiser on that.
Noting the woes expressed by other Unilocalers here, I should mention that my visits have always been of an outpatient nature, so I can’t speak to care on the inpatient level. But, as you can see, even my experience here is decidely mixed.

Horrible employer. They allow sexual harassment in the work place and do nothing to stop it. Then when things come to a head they fire the male who was BEING harassed.
On top of that, their cardiac care is mediocre. They employ RN’s who have ZERO knowledge of how the heart actually works. And place RN’s on telemetry floors who do not have ACLS.
If you’re having chest pain, please do yourself a favor. Ask your ambulance driver to take you ANYWHERE but Kaiser.

Let me start off first by saying the nursing care remains at a 4 – 5 star level (depending on the unit). Most exceptional was on the PCU… thanks Flo and Chris! Housekeeping, aides, orderlies, dietary… all wonderful.
1-​star for the physicians.
My last review was after my dad’s first hospitalization. He’s now in his 5^th hospitalization in 6 weeks and I credit a lot of that to the physicians who looked after him. He hasn’t been home in over a month.
The most telling example was how after a week’s stay for anemia and a toe amputation, my dad developed a fever. Not even 24-​hours later, his fever was gone and they wanted to discharge him. Before getting any results back from cultures and despite having an elevated WBC, they felt comfortable sending him to a rehab facility because he the fever subsided. On a late Sunday afternoon, they transferred him to a SNF, by Monday morning he was back at Kaiser Sunnyside… with a raging fever.
Another week in the hospital, more needle pokes and prods and more time in bed and deconditioning. More stress for my family and, of course, my dad. This was just one of the 4 other instances of re-​hospitalization that occurred since my last post. I don’t think anyone should ever have to endure so many trips to the hospital if they are getting the appropriate care.
One particular hospitalist I met (who also happened to be my dad’s primary outpatient MD) was cold and seemed unconcerned about my father’s overall well-​being. He spoke over him like he was not even in the room or even worse, not even a person. He didn’t bother to show my dad one ounce of respect or decency, even though it was the medical staff’s fault he was there so many times. He, along with several other docs, were quick to dismiss my mother’s concerns about my dad’s health, which ultimately turned out to be reasons for quick trips back to the ER.
I saw many violations of the physician’s oath. So sad.

Admin staff are nice, but the doctor can spend a little more time with the patients and family to explain what happen etc.
Their cafeteria in LL level has decent food!
