Days Inn Clackamas/Portland

My daughter and I love the fact they have a sauna. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. I was not to impressed by the free continental breakfast. It started to early and was very picked over by the time we got to it. If you have kids in the tween years they will like the fact it’s so close to the mall. $ 74 for a room with two queen beds is a sweet deal. Right off the MAX green line too.

There is no reason to go to this inn, unless you are dirt poor and can’t find anywhere else. When your bathroom has false a false ceiling and the closet to hang your stuff is above the desk you know your in the wrong place. Also when you have to squeeze in between the TV and bed to get to the other side you have an issue. The bathroom door was small as well. I’m not a huge guy but when your shoulders can touch both sides at the same time that’s small. I’m 5 foot 7 to give an idea. There was only one staff member who seemed to be on task. Thank you Connie for being that person. Everyone else I delta with gave the impression that they where just collecting a check and waiting to die. If you think the free breakfast is worth it, it’s not. Save yourself and go to another inn or hotel with free breakfast. I can almost guarantee its better. Hotel could be so much better if it just had staff that cared and it was updated a little. Long story short don’t spend your money here. Go somewhere else. This place needs to dissappear.

The purpose for hotel rooms especially when I’m out of town is to just sleep and shower. I’m always on the go when I’m traveling. This was just that.
I stayed here for three nights in June 2013. Yes, you read right — in 2013.
Not sure if they remodeled but in 2013 it was pretty old school. Clean, but old school. Not a bad thing. Non-​smoking and it wasn’t funky smelling at all.
Free parking. Nothing too difficult. Free breakfast — average.

I’m rating this place 4 stars because of the value, not because I got treatment or a room like a 4-​star hotel but mostly because of its location and price. We paid $ 290.24 CAD (~$ 223 USD) for 4 nights for a single queen bed during the week of Christmas, booked through Expedia for an average rate of $ 72 CAD/​nt ($ 55 USD).
There are lots of Mandarin-​speaking Chinese tourists in this hotel when we stayed because a tour group (L & L Tours) booked a block of rooms in the hotel. That’s a good sign for budget hotels, because usually they’re looking for the same things as me in a hotel: cheap, clean, free breakfast and convenient highway access. Unfortunately, they are loud sometimes (eg. in the breakfast area) and they all arrive in the breakfast area at the same time before their tour departs in the morning.
The location is excellent. Within walking distance is a major shopping mall Clackamas Town Center (take the bridge North of the hotel unless you like dodging traffic on the on-​ramps), a plaza South filled with other big box stores as well as a MAX rail station. As mentioned earlier, the hotel is sitting adjacent to the on-​ramp for the I-​205 (that’s an Interstate for us non-​Americans). Driving into the hotel is a bit confusing, as you’ll need to turn into the plaza adjacent to it to get to the hotel’s parking lot. There is also an airport shuttle.
Service was lacking. Room service didn’t come the first morning after we removed the privacy notice after breakfast. We tried to use the washer/​dryer unit, but were unable to find it. One of the front desk staff was rude and insisted it was in the sauna/​fitness room but it was clearly not there or was behind a locked door. The second front desk staff was more polite and said they’d get someone to unlock the door (we ended up not using it since we didn’t want our clothes to get locked in).
The rooms are clean. However, everything except the flat screen TV and fridge were old, worn and outdated. The carpets had wear marks and creases close to the walls. The signal quality was really poor, which is amplified by the fact that it was being shown on a newish HD TV. No complaints about water temperature or pressure in the showers. Wish they would pro-​actively give us more than one micro shampoo bottle for the duration of our stay — we had to ask the front desk for more. The carpet is very worn and creases were developing near the walls. The door on the hotel room does not swing all the way shut by itself — the latch stops on the doorframe and you have to pull it shut. We found the room tighter than expected for two people.
The food in the breakfast area was poor. If the food ran out, they weren’t replenished. The juice machine was thick and sweet like syrup (dilute it with water!). There was also coffee, 2 waffle makers (with batter, syrup and butter), a cream soup with meat, cereal, bread rolls, basket of fruits, yogurt, packets of oatmeal and a pittcher of milk.
Parking is free. Nobody tried to break into our rental Yaris. 24 hour reception meant we could check in after midnight (which we used). A $ 35 USD authorization is put on your credit card in case of damage or other extra fees. The fitness room had one machine and it was clear that the amenities were the bare minimum so that they could be listed on any hotel booking site but not used.
I would stay here again, and I recommend this hotel to anyone who is prepared for a budget hotel experience.

I stayed at this motel got there my hot water didn’t work ther were toenails in the sheets of my bed they switch me rooms to a room that has the TV that was broken mold in the shower room smells like mold half hour after being in the room they rented my room to somebody else as well my wife was completely naked getting dressed and this guy walks in the room and said they just ed rented this room to me as well so i went to front desk and let them no i was very upset you know she could said she understood that I was upset then didn’t say sorry nothing at all didn’t offer a refund price break or anything I will never be back I recommend not even going there even if the room is free

Stayed at the hotel for five nights. Here are my complaints:
1) the key cards died every time I used them
2) treadmill died while using it.
3) floor in exercise room had water seeping in and was stained.
4) sauna didn’t work
5) room service came in at 8am
6) TV didn’t work.
7) something weird growing in the fridge.
Definitely not the «best value under the sun». I wouldn‘t stay there again.

Mold in the showers and bathrooms are dirty staff not friendly tried to leave due to conditions but not allowed too well never stay here again

This location is obviously trying to update and remodel the rooms. That being said we were placed in a room that wasn’t quite finished yet. The moldings around the door were missing. Some of the baseboard in the bathroom was missing. There was no place to hang clothes. There was no clock.
Breakfast left a lot to be desired. Biscuits and gravy were dinner rolls and cold gravy put in a crock pot to heat up. Waffle iron timer didn’t allow enough time to cook the waffle all the way through. It wasn’t stocked enough for the amount of people that were there due to not enough staff to refill empty items.
Also the door to the hall had no safety lock and no peek hole. Adding to the safety concerns there is no phone in the room. If i were traveling by myself or with children I definitely would not have stayed here.

They said the idea of a person dying from a seizure is ‘ridiculous ’ and refused to refund our money.

I’m writing this review for my elderly parents. They reserved a room here for 3 nights, and after the 2^nd night they decided to head home early. Upon checking out early that morning, they told the man at the front desk they weren’t going to stay the 3^rd night and he said he would take care of it and cancel their reservation for the last night. Well, their credit card was billed for the 3^rd night. After disputing the charge with their credit card, Days Inn LIED to the credit card company and told them my parents never canceled their reservation, so they had to pay for that final night. These people are DISHONEST and stole from an elderly couple. Shame on you Days Inn!!!

When we checked it the front desk girl already looked disgruntled. She said that they needed to charge us $ 35 for ‘incidentals and insurance’ but that it would go back onto my card if the room was left satisfactorily. We always leave the room perfect, waiting to see if I am refunded and will complain if not. We were exhausted when we hit the room-​only to realize that the wi-​fi AND the TV did not work. AT ALL. VERY fuzzy TV. Password to wi fi didn’t work. If you have ever traveled with two tired teens you know this did not fair well for me. I went to ask the front desk about getting a different room to fix the problem and she said «they are all like that» and that the hotel was waiting on someone to come fix it. (TV’s) Not long after we noticed a very strong cigarette smoke smell in our bathroom-​perhaps wafting from the neighbors fan being on? Gross! I went to ask the front desk if in fact this was an entirely smoke free hotel as advertised and she said it was but that they could not control what goes on in the rooms.ugh. Really? Also, we saw that the pillows on the bed are very lumpy and to plump them up they had the pillow cases folded so that all the pillow was stuffed into one side. I took pictures to show. In the morning we had to be out early-​we were hungry-​and the Complementary Continental Breakfast was so bad. Old brown bananas, some sort of lumpy goo (gravy?) with dinner rolls. Waffles– but there was a long line waiting… Again, UGH. We are not very picky when it comes to hotels especially for this low-​ish ($ 126 price)…but this hotel takes the cake for the lowest of standards… We asks if we could just get a refund to go stay somewhere else–
The front desk said she could check with her manager-​she would have to call him and ask him if it was possible. she was busy with other check ins/​outs. We did not have wi-​fi to look up another hotel in the area and someone was at your lobby computer for a long while. By then my tired kids said ‘lets just get out of here and come back later so that we don’t have to be in our room long’.wound up shopping at Target and spending money NOT in the budget. UGH again… NEVER again.

I have stayed here multiple times with family, multiple rooms, multiple times. The rooms are solid for the price. Really nice people and comfortable beds. Good bathrooms, they seem to be very well-​maintained as well. The televisions left something to be desired when it came to picture quality, though I have no complaints on the channel selection. Again, for the price, it’s hard to find faults.
There was an issue with an air conditioner auto on/​off not working, but it was still functional AC. This didn’t seem to warrant any immediate repair, as there was barely any inconvenience.
There was an issue in a separate room with the television not staying on long enough to get through the menus. This was fixed by a staff member within minutes of bringing it to the attention of the front desk.
The nighttime/​late night staff were friendly and helpful, which for me is an extra bonus, as I am usually up late.
I very much enjoyed my stay here and would gladly give them my business in the future, as well as recommend it to friends looking for a reasonably-​priced room.

This is one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in in a civilized city I can’t believe days inn does not do more to make their guess comfortable or to have clean enjoyable rooms. The rooms are old dingy out of date carpets are old dirty stained its the last hotel in town that had any rooms and I understand why now would not recommend this hotel to anyone very poor quality. There is trash everywhere around the garbage cans overflowing obviously no maintenance done or they have no maintenance man here

This is one of those cases where a 3.5 would work best, but they deserve the bump up considering how economic the stay is.
They have a free shuttle to pick you up from airport/​medical center & to drop you back off when necessary. I just called the same day as my arrival, and let them know the night before for my departure. Shuttle service was efficient and free.
They front desk staff was extremely helpful and friendly throughout my stay, so well done there. The free breakfast was pretty underwhelming, and I decided to skip it after seeing it the first morning.
Rooms here are super basic and on the small side, but everything was clean and they even include a fridge & microwave. While I was there it looked like they were tearing up carpets from the other rooms and so I’m guessing they are updating the space.
All and all, I’d recommend for singles/​couples when you just need a safe & inexpensive place to lay your head in Portland.

It was just a room, nothing special but you get what you pay for, On the plus side the room is cheap and clean. I would say that their housekeeping staff is very good. it has the basics: free Wi-​Fi, coffeemaker, TV with cable, microwave. Negative: it’s dated, not nearly enough outlets for us techie types. I had to unplug the coffee maker to charge my phone. Cable was grainy and most stations fuzzy. At checkout at 7:00am there was no one at the desk and I waited over 15 minutes for someone to show up. I finally walked out because I had an appointment I needed to get to. Poor selection for breakfast. Bottom line: I might stay here again, but first I’d look for something else better and I would pay more for better quality. But if you’re on a tight budget it’s fine.

This place is not the greatest. Yes you get a good price however at what expense. The lights is our room take forever to brighten up. The bathroom sink is all chipped and the bathroom is dirty. We are staying with our skate team and one of the members had half used shampoo bottles and the fridge was full of food. Another member had to change rooms because no lights worked and when they turned the fan on in the bathroom it made a weird noise and started to smoke. Stay away my friends stay away.

I googled hotels in SE Portland and came up with Day’s Inn in Clackamas, it’s on Sunnyside Road.
I called the reservations line and spoke to someone about the reservation. The most important thing during this part of the process was a room with Early Checkin. This is because my car had broken down, it was 4am and I didn’t want to wake up early! I was bone tired!
I was assured by the reservationist that the hotel had early check in. He said I’d be checking in on the 7^th and I said «Well wait, that’s not early checkin then, that’s checking in last night, instead of this morning». He said that the only way to ensure the early checkin was for him to put that date.
I had him confirm the checkout date, he said «tomorrow». That left me feeling a bit apprehensive so I asked him which actual date we’d be checking out and he said on the 9^th.
Perfect.
I called a cab, headed for the hotel and. you know it wasn’t perfect already don’t you?
Honestly, the price isn’t terrible as is. If it’d have been 4pm and a regular checkin, these are ‘decent (not great, and not super clean. but decent.) rooms for a pretty good price.
It was 430 am by now though, not 4pm, and the clerk said he had no idea why that agent would have told me that. That I’d have to pay more for the early checkin.
Long saga ensued. we called the reservations line back. They were ABSOLUTELY unaccountable and refused to fix the error. It was like talking to a wall! I was told only the customer service department could help me, and that they’d be open during the day.
I called customer service later on, and was told that no one could listen to that call to find out what happened until the 14^th. Are you kidding me?!
Now, I should mention that the night guy was pretty helpful, he was absolutely professional (even tho I didn’t get what I wanted) and he did take $ 20 off the price of the room and give me 2 hours for late check out @ 10 an hour (so at breakeven ;)).
He said he’d have his coworker look at it in the am. She’d tell me what I now owed to change it to early checkin. At least I wouldn’t be woken up in the middle of the night.
Well, she dd extend us to the 9^th, and at this point, I’ve agreed to pay her an unknown amount of money whenever she’s ready. Her credit card machine isn’t working and she’s just absolutely not dealing with the stress.
She’s extremely pushy with all the guests, stress level maxed, and even apologized for being so abrupt, then explained why, and continued to meltdown. Lordy that one!
The door to the room doesn’t lock. There was hair on the wall, just stuck there. I cleaned the nasty tub…
But again, the room was cheap, and the sheets clean. The maid was also super sweet, though she did indeed wake us up at 11. :P

Stayed here for five nights while training. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Breakfast was good, waffles, cereal, toast juices and yogurt, although somewhat heavy on the carbs.
There were a few items in the room which needed maintenance. The door didn’t latch on exit, so had to be pulled shut, once the chambermaid failed to do this so when I came back in the evening the door was not secured. Drain in sink didn’t work properly, bulb missing from light, draw front hanging off. Although these were irritating they weren’t very significant.
Overall it was a pleasant stay, but some rigorous attention to maintenance is needed.

My family will never stay at a Days Inn again nor recommend the chain to anyone. We changed rooms immediately because room we were given was dirty and the lights did not work. The next room was a bit better, but my overall impression is that the place was unclean. I was there with a group and half of us did not have our rooms cleaned on the same day. New carpet was being laid, but it felt lumpy to walk on it. Couldn’t wait to leave.
