History

Established in 1947.

Dales Barkdust was established in 1947 after Dale Cummings returned home from WW 2. Unable to find work Dale started delivering barkdust and other landscape and garden products in the Portland Metro area.. He had no desire to be a big business, he chose to remain a one man show so he could insure the customer received personal service from first contact to completion of the delivery. Dale serviced his customer for 65 years !! At the young age of 87 years he handed the business to David and Betty Thompson. David now runs the business in the manner that Dale instilled in him. Still no plans to grow into a big multi employee business. Just continuing to give our customers personalized service from the first phone call to the delivery of the product.

Background in business management and marketing. Was General Manager of several businesses before the business became available. I love meeting people, talking and driving big trucks ! So when Dale Barkdust was for sale we jumped at the opportunity to self employed business owners. AI am proud to carry on where Dale left off after 65 years in the business. Big boots to fill, and I love putting them on every day to go meet our customers needs.
