A little out-of-the-way place. Came in for a weekday lunch b/c I’d passed it a few times on my way to lunch elsewhere. I think it may be suffering from a little bit of an identity crisis. They do seafood, apparently, but also birria(the murals on the walls say«Bienvenidos su birrieria» and have big ol’ goats watching you eat) and… pupusas? I kind of didn’t know where to start, but I came in for the seafood, so seafood it was. Camarones al mojo de ajo, that is. Steve had the 3-taco combo(one carne asada, one chicken, one carnitas). Here’s the rundown: The shrimp were good – butterflied and drenched in garlic butter. The rice and beans were nothing to write home about(the rice was made w/Veg-All or something – bleh). Didn’t even bother w/the salad. The corn tortillas, though, were homemade. It reminded me of the food eaten in Mexico while on vacation… so that’s a good thing. The tacos were served w/salsa on the side. The chicken was good: juicy and well-seasoned. The carne asada was kind of beef-jerky-ish. The carnitas… well, I kind of lost interest after the asada. Guess they were OK. I’ll have to come back and try the other stuff. The service was very good. The lady said that they have consome, so I’ll definitely be hitting that up.
