Planet Fitness – Citrus Heights

Love this gym! They really do have a judgement free zone vibe! I have been a member of a couple gyms and they were all a meat market, but this gym is the total opposite. Everyone is to busy working out doing there own thing, there are no click type groups of ppl. I bought the black membership which totally rocks and is worth the $ 20 a month. My husband goes to the gym maybe once or twice a week, and I go 4 – 5 days a week. With the black membership one of the perks are you can bring a guest for free, so no extra membership for my hubby. What I really love is if ur a black card holder you can use the hydro massage bed for free, unlimited tanning and massage chairs. Love the hydro massage bed, its like a treat to me after a hard workout… I have pretty bad back issues so the hydro bed really helps ease the pain in my back muscles.
Also you cant go wrong with discounts on beverages, I forgot to bring my bottle of water one day and it was $ 1.08 for a 24 oz bottle water and $ 1.50 for a Rockstar.
No matter if you have the basic membership or the black one they have simple basic fitness classes for all levels. They have a whole body 30 min circuit training class, also classes 30 min each that targets just your abs, legs and arms.
All the gym equipment is very new with various multiple cardio machines. Then they have a ton of regular machines, a pretty large free weight space, and equipment to really help you get a good stretch. Then of course they have exercise balls, mats ect…
I can’t believe that I waisted one more year with fitness 19 for my husband and I to have our own membership, and for the same price we both still get to work out at planet fitness which is way more up to date, extremely clean, and more to offer. Fitness 19 is a basic gym with out all the bells and whistles, however Planet Fitness just put a whole new meaning to basic gym without bells and whistles and modernized it a ton more and offers a couple small perks for the same price! Oh and I love the hours, open 24 hours M-​F, then Sat and Sun I forgot the hours but they are at least open by 6 AM and closes at 9 or 10 PM. I really love this gym and not just because it matches my purple hair! Friendly Helpful Employee’s, Honest to God Judgment Free Zone, Great Price, and Super Clean!

The vibe they create at this gym holds true! You will not feel intimidated exercising at this gym. Every machine is extremely user friendly or has descriptions how to use them if you don’t know how. The gym goers here are very diverse age wise! Everyone has been very friendly and welcoming especially the front desk attendants. Great customer service every time! This gym will provide the basic necessities to workout. There are no classes like Zumba, Spin, or Pilates. They offer an abs class and a circuit class I believe! There isn’t too much space especially during peak house (also the ab area/​stretching area is very small!). I love how everyone cleans the machines after use makes the gym feel squeaky clean! Overall, if you want the basic necessities to workout in a chill environment where you won’t feel like you have to compete with anyone I highly recommend this gym. PLUS you can’t beat their prices!

Can’t find the new north highlands one. But have been satisfied with the facility. They could have a little more staff on weekends. However there was an employee Dedrick who handled the line going out the door with ease. Thanks for the new location!

This is a very clean, spacious and well-​equipped gym. It is inexpensive and almost always open. Staff is always friendly. I come here to run when it’s too hot outside and I also use the weights. It’s quiet and everyone keeps to themselves. There are a lot of good things about this gym. Downside: you must be very self-​motivated to work out here, with good focus, because members are often milling around and yapping, with no workout in sight. I know, it’s a judgement free zone, so I never utter a word, but I find it depressing and distracting.

Ive had this membership for a few months now I normally bring someone with me since I pay for the higher membership where I can bring someone which motivates me. I drive from Antelope to Citrus Heights I chose this gym due to the price being a good deal although there are other gym in between my home and this location. The gym is ok, nothing special you get tanning and 24 hour gym during the week for $ 20.00 something a month per person which I have two memberships so I spend about $ 50.00 a month for me and my husband. The tanning beds are the lesser quality beds but for the price it’s a pretty good deal. My guests
have only been asked for ID twice by one person (which is fine if its policy) this time I was told I couldn’t go in without my guest having her ID. I drive to far to go to this gym and drive home to come back again. I understand it’s «policy». I have visited multiple times and only been asked twice by the same employee. It’s just poor customer service to turn your customers away for something so small as their guest not having ID! I will more than likely not go back to this gym and spend an extra $ 50.00 a month for my whole family to go to another gym. Which will be closer to my home. Poor customer service is not something a business should condone in today’s world there are to many other places I can go to spend my money! I will say all the other staff has always been nice and never turned me down or asked for ID from any guests that accompany me. It’s unfortunate that this has lost them a customer but I’m a firm believer in customer service especially when it comes to my hard earned money!

This place rocks! Clean facility with friendly staff. Good mix of people just trying to be healthy. Lots of cardio and weight options and very rarely ever too crowded. The pizza thing is a little confusing but whatever, not my thing so not my concern. Would recommend it on price and location alone, everything else is kind of a bonus.

This gym is a complete joke. The only thing good about this gym is the price. They do not promote fitness or being healthy. I have been going to this gym for over two years. There are maybe two good employees, the «trainers» are morons. There are people using machines incorrectly about to snap there bodies in half but the «trainers» are more concerned about telling you not to put the weight down so hard. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Also, it is not a judgement free zone, as they say. I can’t tell you how many employees are just sitting at the front desk talking and starring at people. AND it is so cold in the gym ALWAYS! Impossible to warm up. The gym itself is a nice place, but the employees (mainly the trainers) suck

Definitely wow factor for a gym that costs 10 bucks. All the equipment is clean and nice. Plenty of machines available. Only complaint is no free weight benchpressing. Still 5 stars for a tremendous value with little sacrifice from the close by neighbors who charge almost 60.

Today was my first day at this gym and I have to say it was unbelievable. I absolutely loved it. The equipment is modern and easy to use, the staff is really friendly. The place is very open and welcoming, the other patrons are pretty laid back, great to see people not having pissing contests with each other or yelling while they’re lifting weights like in most gyms (that crap is annoying as you know what lol) Also they have free training classes with a personal trainer. There’s also a whole body 30 minute work circuit that I think I’m gonna try in the near future. My biggest surprise though was how CLEAN the place is. I mean from the workout area to the locker room just CLEAN!!! The only think I didn’t like was while I was showering the hot water cut out lol. I already can’t wait to get back over there tomorrow and get back to pumping iron again

Went in to cancel after going only once. Have to cancel in person and missed the cut off by one day so I get to pay another two memberships we didn’t use. Not the friendly faces they claim they always have to greet you and it smelled like ammonia or urine.

GREAT GYM! I try to go there as much as I can due to the fact my fiancé is working out for his work and it’s a VERY clean gym. I like the fact you don’t have many d-​bag fitness freaks and people leave you alone. Nothing is broken down either.

I meant to post earlier but completely forgot. I am not a member of this Planet Fitness (I was a member in a different county years ago) but I called Planet Fitness this morning and spoke with Megan. I was inquiring about coming back to the gym and she informed me that I was still being charged for my account in RP ! It was supposed to be a year membership and they somehow were still charging my card (which was inactive) which caused me to have an outstanding bill with them and I wouldnt be able to sign up until it was fixed.
Anyway, long story short. Megan was SUPER helpful and informative, she went out of her way to get me the regional managers phone number and let me know the hours hed be working at the previous gym so that I could reach him. She said to let him know of the issue and that she spoke with me (she couldnt access the system for a different home gym to help me directly); that he’d be able to fix the problem for me and reverse most of the charges so that I could return and sign up with no issues.

Immaculate! One word that I thought I would never use to describe a gym.
I’ve been a member of this gym for quite sometime now and I LOVE IT! I have never seen a gym where both the employees and members are courteous and friendly. I especially love the fact that the gym provides spray bottles and paper towels so everyone can wipe down the equipment.
Their motto lives up to itself, «No Gymtimidation and Judgement Free Zone». Everyone that works out here usually keeps to themselves. I have yet to see any bad behavior or rude patrons. Definitely one of the better gyms in the area and you can’t beat the price!

I joined here a couple months ago. The staff is awesome, the equipment is just right for me (getting back in shape after dealing with a broken back). No pressure. No extreme body building dickheads with attitudes. Lots of machines… lots of free weight.
I don’t understand the negative reviews about it being a scam. Sure… you set up an automatic debit from your checking acct (I agree… automatic payments kind of suck) but that’s the gym business model in general. And it’s cheap enough that if you can’t afford an auto debit of $ 10, or don’t have a checking acct., you probably need to get off welfare and get a job. It’s not discrimination… get a clue.
I personally have been doing very well with weight loss and strength building so all of the whining about equipment, and scams, and all that other BS is just that: BS.

I hate gyms. I love Planet Fitness. It’s probably best suited to those at beginner and intermediate fitness levels who are trying to get in shape or maintain on a budget. You won’t be surrounded by the dickheads that complain about the once-​a-​month pizza night, as if that one night of pizza is going to suddenly make a person fat. How dare you offer a nice, *optional* thing to your clientele, Planet Fitness??? Bastards! And I imagine that they have candy there for diabetics who might be at risk for low blood sugar during a workout. Considering that offering free candy is cheaper than a lawsuit over someone going into a coma because the gym charges for something sugary, I’d say it’s pretty smart. And before you say something like «Well, that’s the diabetic person’s fault for eating so goddamn much and getting diabetes in the first place! They should bring their own candy! Wah wah wah, I’m a douche!», think about all of the other crap people need to carry around at the gym. A lot of workout clothing doesn’t even have pockets to hold candy. Or, you know, don’t bother thinking about it, since you clearly lack the ability to empathize, which means you are a robot from the future and must be stopped. The gym can do whatever the fuck they want because it’s their gym. If someone chooses to eat the candy, so what? That’s on them. Much like the pizza, it’s entirely fathomable that people can indulge every now and again and not turn into tubs of lard. Also, I don’t imagine that people just walk up and take fists full of candy and jam it into their gullets, wrappers and all, like I’m sure a lot of these assholes want to think about the clientele that work out here. It must be hard going through life being a judgmental sack of shit. At least the normal, well-​adjusted people who work out at PF have the potential to lose their weight; I don’t imagine that it’s easy for these ‘roided-​out fitness nazis to come out of their own asses after having crawled so far up them.
Also, the gym has a lot of good cardio equipment.

I love this place. It’s not intended for people who are trying to be body builders or who want child care, saunas, pools, and exercise classes.
This place is for people who can’t afford a home gym and need to get fit and stay fit.
They have the cybex arch, ellipticals, treadmills (not my favorite), free weights go up to 75 lbs. They have weight machines and smith machines. If you’re into curves they have a 30 minute station where you can do your strength and cardio on step boxes.
It is a very clean gym with VERY HELPFUL and KIND staff.
I’ve moved over an hour away and miss this gym terribly.
$ 10 a month?
and a maintenance fee once a year.
Can’t beat that with a baseball bat.

I joined Planet fitness about 6 months ago. Finally have been going consistently enough to write a review.
Price: Yes it has got to be the cheapest around. Options of $ 10/​m or $ 20/​m (bring a friend free every time) is not a bad deal
Equipment: They have quite a lot. Many Many machines. Although I’m not a big fan of it, they have the biggest «Cardio Theater» I have ever seen with 10 TV channels to watch from. The Free weights go up to 75, which kinda sucks/​limiting. The only Benches available are 5 – 6 free weight benches, 3 Smith machines. Then there are 3 Cable/​lat machines. and not a single decline bench?
People: I normally go at 5 AM. I hate Crowds, thats the only reason. Once I went on Saturday at like 8 or 9 AM. It was «Crowded» but Honestly to everyone else my «Crowded» is your «half empty gym»
The People are generally just about anyone. I will admit there are more girls than guys at this gym. Every now and then there seems to be a group of people who know each other and line up on the cardio machines and talk.
Aside from that, it seems like the people who come to this gym are mostly beginners.
Staff: Very friendly staff. Albeit, they are understaffed when I visited the gym twice and was told there is no one available to walk me around and show the place, so they let me just walk on my own. I’ve seen the staff walk around and clean equipment, pick up trash off the floor. Probably the cleanest gym I have seen yet.
Company: Planet Fitness seems like a genius idea. It’s like a 80% gym, 20% entertainment. The low Price, Free pizza, cardio theater, tanning booths, etc seem to draw enough people to make this business work. I suggest that Planet Fitness hear the rest of the complains on here and allow 1 free day pass to try the gym. I almost didn’t join because it.
Judgement?: I would have to agree that this Gym does bring a great judgement free environment. I have never felt out of place, discouraged, or intimidated by other members.
Conclusion: All in all, it’s not a bad gym for the price. I’ve been mocked by a few friends for going to a gym that «doesnt allow Deadlifting», etc. Planet Fitness does allow Deadlifting, so long as you arnt grunting like an idiot.
I do not like that I am confined to a smith machine for the «Big 3» weight lifting movements. However, I would have to say that this has become my starter gym. Should I need to move beyond Smith machines and 75 lb dumbbells, I will consider that my Graduation.

This review is not at all for the gym or its employees but can perhaps be brought to the attention of management or ownership.
I was very interested in Planet Fitness, and became even more interested once I saw their low rates. I was hoping to try the gym out for a workout and could have then very well signed up, but due to the current company policy (no trials) I simply crossed them off my list and am now deciding solely between 24 hr fitness and fitness 19. Planet Fitness is completely entitled to their own policies but unfortunately it would be my observation that it has turned away some very interested customers such as myself.
Again, Planet Fitness is a private business and can do as they please, but as both a business autodidact and finance major, imo the opportunity cost of losing potential members far exceeds the benefit of ensuring no one takes advantage of a (gee) 1 day gym pass. By simply allowing interested customers an opportunity to experience the gym for one workout, lifetime customers can be gained that will generate lucrative funds over their time as a member. Every industry in the nation does it. Car dealers… test drives. Restaurants… samples. And of course you get to try on clothes before you buy them right? Shoes too? It is generally accepted in business that attracting new customers is six times harder than keeping the ones you have, and with policies like these its probably 20x harder.

It’s a planet fitness…
If you’re a newby to working out or just looking for a cheap gym, then this place might be for you. But any serious trainer should/​will outgrow this place in about a month.
They have a pizza night where they feed pizza to members. For Christ sake, what kind of gym does that? I think their goal is to use marketing to lower fitness ambition (thus the «no intimidation» crap commercials) and then feed the members crap food so they never reach their fitness goals. Is this really what you want to pay money for?

If you live in CH, this is the gym for YOU! Zero down. 20 bucks a month! Including tanning and massage chairs. They are open 24 hours during the week. They do not offer child care but I am sure this is one way they keep the cost low. They must have at least 100 pieces of cardiovascular equipment! Holy cow, I love it here. If 20 is too much for you then pay 10 a month but you don’t get the tanning and massage chairs which are killer after a workout
