Over the years, I’ve accumulated a pretty good inventory of everyday tools. Nice ones, good quality. There are times when I just need to pick up some random tool that does not need to be of the highest quality — either for a single one time use job and/​or OK to lend out and never get back. Or maybe bungee cords, straps, tie downs, tarps, towing gear etc. I recently bought some stainless steel stock pots here for making a batch of beer.
Harbor Freight is great for that kind of thing. I’d not stock my entire tool arsenal with tool from here but I do have a collection of random, not so often used tools that did their job and at a very reasonable price.
A few of the reviews here mention the long lines. Yep, that’s what happens when there’s a lot of people in a store. On this days shopping spree, 3 registers were open and staffed and there were at maybe 3 people deep each line — a 4^th register was opened. What I did notice and find much more important is that each clerk was working diligently to serve each customer quickly and accurately (maybe a little robotic, but I get it). Not much more can be done.
I’d say it’s more about the customers that aren’t prepared to check out that slow things down. Be prepared to pay. don’t act surprised when it’s time to whip out cash or card and please don’t write a check.

Let’s start with a little background I am partner/​owner in a custom home building company with my family. Next I’ve grown up around contractors, tools, lumber etc my entire life since my father built custom homes. I’m well aware about tools and machinery. Better yet after getting my BA in college is s pent 6 years doing corporate accounting for a well respected college with 150 campuses.
I brought in my receipt to see if it had dropped as I was told by a subcontractor at the Rocklin location earlier. The associate was about to walk away from the register until I get worked in as he looked very bored (for a kid who probably isn’t even 20 this comes easy in retail).
I give him my receipt to check and he does his computer scanning the receipt and typing to say «nope it’s still $ 349.99» I replied «ok then I’ll call my sub guy and double check» meanwhile while calling on the phone he calls and upper manager for over to tell me how I’m wrong, yaya while I’m on the phone and that I need to move.
Umm excuse you but I haven’t finished my transaction where I was asking my sub contractor if he took a picture of the price reduction. Furthermore the associate had not given my receipt back and I’m disabled with a cane so it’s not easy to move like a normal person. I was shocked at how rude I was being treated for a simple price checking to see if it had gone down and I was rushed, told to move so he could help the next person. How about opening up a second register when you have 3 employees standing around doing nothing and only one register open. Let’s just say this may be the very close to my house but I will never have him be my cashier again and I will use lowes across the street which is easier for me since my house is on that side behind their.
Quality customer service is the first line between a companies name and profit. You have this type of person treating customers this way especially one protected by the ADA and you can have a big situation on your hands especially because a 20 year old minimum wage employee is ignorant and rude. I didn’t catch his name however since I was rushed but he was very young and very large in size. Don’t throw stones when you live in a glass house.
It’s sad because I have two contracts signed to build two custom homes next year with our business and I’ll make sure we take our money to buy anything elsewhere.
I hope management reads this because I will be copying and pasting this to the ADA for a complaint. I will not be told to hurry up and move when it’s still my turn nor will I tolerate the stupidity of the obvious came in hand means can’t hurry. Or better yet you saw me get out of my car in front of the store doors in the handicap space when you should have been doing some work and not staring out the door.

I’m so happy they opened up this store closer to me. I enjoy going in there and looking for stuff to put in my toolbox. Even if I don’t know what it’s called, I’m sure I’ll use it at some point.
I’ve already been in there a couple of times. I find their prices to be excellent for most things that are a bit more anywhere else.

Least knowledgeable collection of timecard punchers I’ve ever met. I can’t believe I’m writing a review for a hardware store but this is how poor they are in service and product knowledge.

Every thing is so cheap its amazing. I’m very happy this store just opened up near my house. The staff will help you to find what you need and most of the tools seam to be quality especially for the price.

This location is a breeze to get in and out of and the staff is super friendly. The store is clean, bright and well laid out, so I had no problem finding what I needed. An excellent addition to this side of town!

This place knows how to treat their customers! We will never go to the Auburn Blvd store again! More inventory too!

I have been going to harbor freight for a few years. This is a new location and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. This location is brand new and larger than the others. Very clean and well organized.
Make sure to sign up for their coupon service as you can save hundreds of dollars, as I did replacing tools that were stolen from my garage. All Pittsburgh tools come with a lifetime warranty.
They also carry tool boxes, power tools, air tools, welders, hand tools, all sorts of automotive repair equipment and a whole lot of other items that you use daily in your home or garage. BUT make sure to use the coupons because they do save you money.
Today I picked up a rolling pneumatic chair, electronic noise reduction ear phones, safety glasses and a ammo box for under $ 40 with the coupons.
