Citrus Heights STAR Smog

I was the first car in this morning and it took about one hour 10 minutes, 20 minutes less than originally quoted. Over the phone I was told it would take 2 hours so definitely a positive experience. :) The guys were fast and friendly. Best price I found on brakes and rotors in the area (I was quoted $ 300 more at the dealership!), I will definitely be back for more car care. Thank you!

Took my car here and had no problems. Guys are pretty much straight up and tell you how it is if you pass or don’t pass… I mean its legit. if you read the business card you would get a better understanding on how exactly they will be with you. :) But side note. No problems and got out on a timely matter and reasonable price. quick simple thanks.

What is this review for. price or service. or both. Because they are not intertwined for all services or products. So service two stars. they get the job done but lack a professional look and feel. Price 5 stars… Sometimes I do not understand when others expectations are so bad they put reviews for companies which can make their company suffer when the customer is partly to blame. I noticed one thing for sure along the years. The people than find something to complain about do with vigor and post negative reviews all the time and a lot of people that have a good experience do not post a review because they are happily going about their day instead of finding a problem with EVERYTHING… This is the cheapest smog company other then one more that I know of within an almost 15 mile radius. If you are going to be paying near $ 30 – 36 for a smog with the certificate included did you not think there would be a compromise somewhere. I think the better questions for this shops review are: 1) did they do the smog 2) Did they know what they were doing. The answer is yes and yes. I have taken my two cars there three times now. Did I think, well this place is not the cleanest, yes, did I dislike waiting in a line of cars, yes. But they got the job done and I only paid $ 36 this last time around and this is a first come first serve location… If you want a «happy» experience dont be so cheap, go to place that charges $ 50 – 80 as there are many around this area, call them as many times as you like to get a pleasant hello on the phone, go in, sit in the lounge and enjoy all those perks because your paying for them. Would you want the guy smoging your car or answering the phone or getting the job done so you can go about your day… Although Ashley your post did make me think to call them and at least tell them to update their voicemail system to notify any callers that do not get a person on the line if the smog machine is up and running or down. They could have at least done that as I feel for your situation there.

Not only did I have a horrible experience my mother warned me not to go here!
My husband took our car here and it failed the visual inspection. No big deal. My husband fixed the problem and because he had to work, I returned with the car. The young man told me the smog machine was down and he seemed empathetic, told me to call around 2 and see if it was fixed. I called all day no answer. My dmv appt was the next day at 11:50 so I woke up and started calling the smog shop around 9, to my surprise still no answer. I decided at 10 to just go over there. I got there and walked around for a bit trying to discover who was working there. I located the smog technician and explained that we spoke yesterday and he told me to call and see if the machine was fixed. I explained that I had been calling but no one ever answered, he pulled his phone out of his pocket and said «oh man it’s dead, guess I should charge it.» He had gotten irritated somewhere in the conversation and firmly told me «I have 4 cars ahead of you! I have to fully re-​smog your car! There’s nothing I can do about that!!!» I was taken back and all I could say was «Well you can change the fact that you answer your phone so I wouldn’t have to keep coming back over here!»
So either I pick a time that is good for them and get my re-​smog for $ 9 or take it somewhere else for full price. I will be taking it somewhere else. Don’t make the mistake of coming here. Customer service is so low on their list, there’s no waiting room and it’s not worth your time if you happen to fail because you will return 2 – 3 times before you get done with them.

I would give zero stars if I could. This place is bad news. The owner is violent and beat my uncle so bad He put him in the hospital. After researching we found out it was not his first offense at beating someone while on the job. STAY FAR AWAY!

Quick cheap smog where you can drop your car off and get it done while you do some grocery shopping across the street. It’s a first come first serve basis.

I always go to these guys because they’re straight forward and funny once you get them talking. they may not roll out the red carpet for customers but they’re fast and leave the bull shit aside. perfect for busy people! I highly recommend!!!

I went here because it’s just around the corner. There is no office and its pretty much in the back of a driveway, somewhat like an alley. When I asked how long of a wait it’s not the response that irritated me but more the way the guy said it.
Sorry but I am a huge fan of customer service. Customer service here is a big fat zero. Especially if you are female, do not go here.
I ended up going over to North Antelope to a place called Autotek. I will be going here next time. Not the cheapest nor the most expensive but they are honest and polite. And if you are looking for a STAR station, they are one.

I love this place and customer service is good. Come on dont expect a red carpet treatment the guy is just straight to the point. Don’t be so sensitive. And you can’t beat his prices I’ve taken 2 of my vechiles here and I’m gonna continue to keep taking it here.

I’ve been too busy to write a review in a long while, but today I felt compelled to warn about this place. I would give ZERO stars if possible.
I went there because I had a coupon, big mistake. They occupy one bay in a building of another auto business. I asked the worker/​guy how long would it take. He said about an hour, as there are four cars ahead of me. I told him I’ll come back since I had my 18-​month-​old baby with me and there was no waiting room and I didn’t want to hang out in the car or have her running around a busy parking lot for an hour. He told me that he couldn’t hold my place in line. OK, whatever… I’ll run some errands and check back in later.
So after my last errand stop (a little over an hour later), I called them to ask what the wait was. A guy told me,“It’s looking pretty good”. I asked him,“What do you mean by that?” He said,“There’s only one car in the bay right now.” I’m thinking: GREAT! I’m only 5 minutes away, I’ll go right over there. I get there and I see a few cars & some people standing around in the parking lot! I go up to the guy to ask how long and he says,“Same as before, an hour”. I told him I just called! He said,“That guy who answers is not even here”. I just sighed loudly and turned to walk away and the guy yells out to me,“Go somewhere else, we don’t need you!” I said,“I will!“
So, not only are they RUDE, the owner or whatever that was who answered the phone just FLAT OUT LIED TO ME!
Never again. but if you don’t mind putting up with that shit… be their guest!

This smog test only business is across the street from Kmart near the Auburn Blvd/​Riverside Ave. bridge over Interstate 80. Their card says, «We accept all Sacramento area competitor coupons! We will meet or beat any competitor price! I actually drove down Auburn Blvd from Sylvan Corners to I-​80 and found four separate smog only stations. Their prices were as high as $ 49.95 for the smog test (not including $ 8.25 for the certificate). Citrus Heights Test Only Smog only charges $ 19.99 for the smog test, so my total price out the door for the test and certificate was only $ 28.24. It’s not the fanciest place around, but they do the job… and I don’t think you can beat the price!
