Brannan Electric

So David has been to our home four or five times now. Our mid-​century post and beam is at that point where it just needs a little more tender loving care and David is our go to electrical guy for this.
Recently, I had noticed that a circuit would trip when the hair dryer was on. I was thinking it was time to call David about it. Low and behold that afternoon David dropped by to give us his Brannan Electric annual calendar. What are the chances? It’s been almost a year since he was last here.
He fixed the problem on the spot. It’s now been a full week of using the blow dryer without having to schlep outside to the electrical box to flip the switch. Yippee!
This guy knows what he’s doing which makes him worth his fees — essential when it comes to home safety. Besides that, he’s just a really likable guy. If you don’t like him, seek help. That’s right, he’s that likable.

We had a problem removing a very old lightbulb from our bathroom (a part of the lightbulb got stuck and broke off) and called Dave Brannan to see if he would be able to fix it. He saved us money by talking through how he would recommend fixing it (using WD40 and needle nose pliers) and voila, we were able to do it ourselves. Thanks to him for being honest, helpful and empowering us to take on this small job ourselves. We would certainly call him for bigger electric jobs we need in the future.

Dave was very knowledgeable and provide me the information that was needed so I could do part of the work myself. His quote «Save your money». The work it did was quick and he even took the time to clean up some items that was not caused by him.

Look no further… this is the electrician you are looking for! After a break-​in where the burglar ripped out the Air Conditioner fuse box in an attempt to stop the house alarm (unsuccessfully), I was without AC. I received David’s name and number from friends who were pleased with his service in the past. From there, my day just got better. I contacted David and he answered his phone right away. Though he was booked for the day, he recognized the priority of the AC issue, due to the sweltering summer heat, and made himself available that afternoon. He had the AC working within 5 minutes of being onsite. While I had him onsite, he also resolved power issues on an outlet in the basement (unexpected GFCI connection and bad breaker) and an outlet in the loft. On top of that, he also fixed the drive-​way lights while I was preparing to pay him! All of this was resolved in under an hour!
Not only is David an exceptional electrician, he is a wonderful guy! He was friendly, personable, and informative and we had a wonderful conversation while he was onsite. I could not be more pleased with the service and personal care I received. I highly recommend Brannan Electric for all your electrical needs. I’m so pleased, I am already planning some upgrades that will bring him back onsite. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

Used Mr. Brannan twice in the last month for a breaker replacement and a dishwasher that wasn’t receiving power. Good guy, with lots of good referrals for other services. Turns out the dishwasher itself was the problem but he checked out all the outlets in the area and made sure things were safe since the dishwasher seemed to be shorting out at the point of its hardwire connection (which he thankfully disconnected). He’s a good guy.

Fantastic service! Quickly took care of an emergency while I was on the road– his prompt response and subsequent professionalism was strongly appreciated. Ten Stars.

I called Brannan for the first time today to fix an electrical outlet problem. Dave scheduled an appointment with me within a couple of hours after contact. He was able to fix the problem right away and while he was here I asked him about an exhaust fan in my kitchen that was the original one installed when my mid-​century ranch was built over 60 years ago. I have had several people look at it but they all told me that they did not want to take it on. It has not worked for over six or seven years. He said he could fix it and, to be quite frank, I was extremely skeptical. It took some time and patience and at one point I told him to just forget it. He kept at it and it is now running like new! He is very skilled, honest and helpful and I will not hesitate referring him to anyone and I will definitely be calling him for all of my electrical needs.

I was out of town for a month when the wind broke a large branch off my tree on a Friday night, which took down the power line. SMUD came that same night and rolled up the wire, informing me that they could not put it back up until the repair of the masthead had been permitted, repaired, and inspected by the City. Of course it happened on a weekend!
I got Dave Brannan’s name from Angie’s List and he had tons of very positive reviews from customers. He called me within 30 minutes of my call on a Saturday morning and went out to check on the damage the same day. He gave me an estimate that was reasonable then proceeded to pull the permit, fix the beast, and bird dog the City permits department until they actually came out to inspect and approve it.
Had it not been for him bird dogging this job, it could have taken weeks to get my power back. He made it his business to keep checking with the City to make sure the inspection was scheduled and actually done. He did his part and went the extra mile to make sure others did what was required of them to complete the work and get my power back on. Dave kept me informed so, even though I was 3000 miles away, I knew what was going on. He helped out in all kinds of ways that made things easier for me. The check I wrote after all that was the exact amount he’d quoted me.
I have dealt with all kinds of bad contractors over the years. This guy is the guy you want. He came up with solutions to potential problems related to my older equipment that was safe but not up to code. Because of him I didn’t end up having to replace a bunch of equipment that still worked. I’ve sought his advice subsequently about some other electrical problems and never had any inkling that he was anything but fair and truthful.
Based on my experience with Brannan Electric, I sure wouldn’t put much stock in the bad review he got from Kelli R. He’s no con-​artist and sure as heck not lazy. He could have taken advantage of me in my time of need because it would have been easy with me out of town. I was warned that some electricians would do that, but he didn’t. This guy’s the wheat not the chaff.

So, I’m actually a little embarrassed to write this review – and you’ll understand why in just a minute. On a Sunday, the lights and fan in the bathroom stopped working. First, of course, I tried resetting the circuit breaker. That was the extent of my electrical fix-​it know-​how. I hopped on Angie’s list and called Brannan Electric because the profile said they welcome small jobs. (I was really hoping this was a small job!) Since it was Sunday, I had no desire to call an electrician out, but figured I’d set up an appointment for a weekday as soon as possible.
David called me back about 5 minutes after I left the voicemail. He was friendly and personable. He instructed me to go hit the «reset» button on the GFCI outlet in the bathroom. This, of course, fixed the problem instantly. He didn’t set up an expensive house call, he didn’t expect anything in return (except for asking me to call him if I needed an electrician in the future!)…
Seriously, now I know better… but how often does a service provider call back on a Sunday AND also tell you how to fix the issue yourself AND not charge you for a service call?

Dave came by and installed an outdoor electrical outlet on my home. He was punctual, amicable, and fortunately dog friendly. I had asked him about wiring a security system through my attic (with a vaulted ceiling), and he referred me to a friend of his — after further inquiry, this is because the friend is of smaller stature and could better maneuver in attics. I appreciated the referral. For the outlet, he got the job done quickly for the quoted price, and he even checked out some random wires sticking out of my house for no additional charge. I definitely recommend calling Dave for electrical needs!

I’ve used David’s services twice now and have been highly satisfied with the work that he’s done. For the first visit, he was dispatched via my home warranty plan (Old Republic) to fix a bad wire in our back porch light. In the process of reinstalling the porch light, the fixture shorted out from water that had collected from an improper installation from the previous house owners. While he couldn’t fix it himself on the warranty call, he gave my boyfriend precise instructions on how to get the fixture exchanged for free, while also offering to give instructions over the phone when it came time to install the new fixture.
Coincidentally the following week we had an insulation company give an estimate on an insulation upgrade for our home. Before they could complete their work, they needed certification that the knob and tube wiring hardware in the attic was inactive. Sure enough, they recommended David of Brannan Electric to come and inspect our attic for any suspicious wiring, mentioning that he is willing to work on older homes, something that not all electricians do. We had David out again, who crawled through our minimal attic space, checking for amateur wire splices and archaic wiring that could pose a fire hazard.
After both visits, he followed up with a phone call to make sure things were working properly, and he even asked about our satisfaction with the new insulation. I won’t hesitate to have David out again if I am in need of an electrician.

The owner of the company claimed to be in business for 25+ years. All we needed was a ceiling fan installed for my senior parents. This guy shows up late, spends 45 minutes in the bedroom, spreads out the parts and pieces to the fan, literally in all for corners of the room, then comes out and says he cant do the job. He attempts to refer us to his «30 something young buck» buddy, because apparently one man can’t hang a ceiling fan without his team getting in the attic… This man is untruthful, lazy and attempted to swindle my aging parents. He is an old con-​artist working with a young group of guys, all he does is make a percentage off of the referral. HIRE WITH CAUTION!
