This is a small business with amazing BBQ! Don’t come here to feel like you’ve been treated like a king or queen. It’s ALL about the food. Pretty much everything that comes out of the kitchen melts in your mouth and the BBQ sauce? Well, you might have to travel to Texas or the Southern states to find better. YUMMY!

If you want the real deal BBQ plus give your business to a local Mom n Pop … look no further. I just had lunch and it was so good. It’s my 3rd time here and I wanted to get the opinion from someone that spent years in East Texas and he knows his Q. He gave it a two thumbs up! I wasn’t sure what their hours were so I called yesterday to see if they would be open at 11:30 today for lunch. The woman I spoke with(Ray’s wife) said they usually open at noon but she would open up at 11:30 to accommodate the 3 of us. NICE! The ribs are just outstanding and according to Chuck, has a nice bark. Whatever, I just say YUM! The mac n cheese and potato salad are homemade daily. I’m sure everything is but that is all I’ve tried so far. I intend to try everything on the menu. Friday is the fish fry and I love me some catfish. I’ll be trying that next. I sure hope they make a go of this. I intend to patronize this place often!

The food is great. It is a whole in the wall place. If it wasn’t for the fantastic smelling food and my man size hunger, I would have messed it. But that’s what makes it great. Local business owner from the community trying to make it. You know the American way. On that alone we should show support. People that are complaining are spoiled. They expect an uppity place. The people are friendly. They went out of their way to serve me. So I can only speak about my own experience. The ribs were sauced to my liking. Fantastic flavor great sides. It was reasonably priced. I had a good time, and I will be back. If you want cookie cutter, dry no flavor and boring Google search some generic BBG place. You want Soul Food come here.

This was the best BBQ I have ever had! I will be a faithful customer here! Cornbread was the best too, and I had a southern mama who could cook! Love the potato salad… garlic in it was a wonderful surprise I had never thought of. Nice people… and GREAT cooks! Try this place for some food to live for! Tri-tip, ribs… uhmmmmmmm.

This place is bigger inside than it looks from outside. Very clean. Very friendly owners. We had pulled pork which was spicy, but not too spicy. We thought it to be just perfect for us. Lots of sides available. Potato salad was excellent. The portions look small but they are very filling. Despite the plastic forks and baskets, it was an excellent dining choice.

We came by on a Saturday night about 630 and this place was completely dead. No one but a man and a woman whom I am assuming own the place. Customer service was ehh and when we placed our order of ribs and chicken, the guy asked if we wanted the chicken bbq’d. Seriously? And then looked irritated when we said yes we wanted it bbq’d. And their atm machine was down and a sign said cash only but then on the sign it lists atm fees and such. Needless to say I had a bad feeling about this place so we left to go get cash and didn’t come back.

Was not impressed with the food at all. I will not be returning. The lady was very pleasant, but the food was not worth the drive or return.

I haven’t had a opportunity to try this place, although I keep trying. No hours of business listed on Unilocal, the phone number gives me a recording that the cell subscriber is not available, I went there and it was closed even though it said it was open according to business hours on the door. It doesn’t matter how good the food is, if you are unable to operate on a normal schedule, your business will fail. It is what it is. If I ever see you open, I’ll give you a try, and then maybe I can update the review to something more positive, but I’m just disappointed right now. I was looking forward to some good southern food.

Great BBQ in Citrus Heights! Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed. Real food and real people. It takes a minute but good food does. I like the ribs and chicken wings.

I love BBQ. I feel like I should yell that. The simple fact is BBQ is hard to make. Good BBQ that is. Shitty BBQ is easy to make. I know because lots of people around town make it. Not this place, they make the proverbial ribs good enough to slap your mama. Protip(in rap form): When I checked the Unilocal review it said«Call ahead» Unfortunately that smell caught me dead in my tracks so I had to get chicken and ribs Man I waited a while but I’m glad I did Big Ray ain’t no joke with a smoker and grill It was Friday I had a few extra minutes to kill The greens and mac were off the chain People in the street starin at my shirt stain I don’t care, the shit was good Wood smoke and meat stankin the whole neighborhood So don’t be like me and waste your time Call ahead and skip the whole line I would have liked to see bigger portions. I’m gonna try calling in my order and sequencing it. I bet I have better luck. It was great so I’m not taking off a star. If I go back and I get a little mo’ meat I’m gonna give them six stars somehow. If they don’t, they might have to go down to 4. Ray was nice, they are super busy. His wife was less chatty, but the woman looked like she’d seen a BBQ world war. They obviously didn’t intend to have a big customer base. I hope they scale their business soon, because it’s amazing. I’ve seen big demand take out plenty of spots like this. That would truly be sad for these folks. I think they’re great. They have a fish fry on Fridays. Whaaaaaaaaaaat?

Saw this place while I was driving and decided to stop by and check it out. The staff was friendly and pricing for the food was fair I ordered and small rib plate which the ribs where really good but the Mac & chesse was greasy and gross by far the worst Mac and chesse I’ve had. Other than that I give it 4 stars the ribs saved them from lower stars

I thought the food was incredible! The tri-tip was delicious as well as the pulled pork. I would highly recommend both. The greens were good, although I’ve had better. Rice & beans delicious! The staff was friendly. The place was very clean which I like. The only thing I will say is I think the prices are a little high for the amount of food you get

So we went for an early dinner. Nice mom and pop place. Clean and super friendly people. My husband and I shared the big bully combo. Plenty of food for the both us! It had ribs, chicken, tri-tip, hot link, macaroni shrimp salad, fried cabbage and greens. All of the meat was awesome! Tender, juicy, smokey and saucy! The macaroni shrimp salad was dilish! I love the my veges, my husband doesn’t. So imagine my surprise when he love the cabbage and greens as much as I did! My daughter got the garlic wings and potato salad. Both were off the hook! We ordered some ribs, wings and salads to take home with us! We have found our bbq restaurant! We most definitely be coming back and recommending it to everyone!!!

First time eating at Big Rays Bully Ribs OMG! There was plenty of parking and customer service was excellent. The staff was very friendly and restaurant was clean. The food was INCREDIBLE. We ordered bbq chicken and pork chops they were very moist and flavorful. The sides were also amazing we had potato salad, cabbage yams and macaroni. I will visit again maybe tomorrow

Super friendly staff, but the food was mediocre. The mac n’ cheese was greasy and the greens not tender. Ribs were ok. Smokey, but not tender. Left unsatisfied. But the staff were great.

Who doesn’t love a Mom and Pop restaurant in the middle of suburbia? I look for them whenever I eat out, food that is cooked with care and love is hard to find. But look no further, Big Ray Bullys BBQ is that place. I tried the tri tip sandwich and potato salad– melt in your mouth good. I got the rib dinner for my husband and«stole» his greens. The greens are a must, some of the best that I have ever had. They slow cook the meat right in the parking lot-it smells wonderful. Support a local business here in Citrus Heights, you wont be disappointed!
