Specialties

Alonzo’s Pizza Depot offers pizza that is out of the ordinary. For 40 years we have been a mainstay for pizza lovers in Citrus Heights. Recently my wife Traci and I have had the opportunity to take over the business from Lonnie and Jan. We are so delighted that we have. I have found our average customer has been eating at Alonzo’s for decades and Alonzo’s appeal spans generations. It is not uncommon for me to hear how families have been coming here for years and now their kids and grand-kids come in to: «eat the best pizza in town». We are very proud to be a part of this legacy and invite you to join us to enjoy what our long time customers have been keeping secret! Thank you and see you soon.

History

Established in 1970.

Alonzo’s Pizza began in Albuquerque, New Mexico, December 1970. Charles (Lonnie) and Jan Robinson bought a small established and attractive business called The Pizza Palace. It became known as the pizza place with the crazy stop and go wallpaper with a wagon wheel chandelier. The learning curve was steep, and cooking was done with an old surplus bread baking oven with four steel decks. They transferred the heat so fast that we burned a lot of pizzas. I visited a local brick supplier who recommended ¾″ thick yellow fire brick to position on the steel decks. For the next ten years we cooked some of the best hearth baked pizzas in the area!

In 1980 Lonnie and Jan moved the business to Citrus Heights and changed the name to Alonzo’s Pizza Depot. In January of 2014 Lonnie retired and sold the business to Traci Miller, a long time customer and rabid fan of the Chicago Style pizza and Garlic Twists.

Traci’s plan… Don’t change, just share the goodness!
