The SCB Carnival is a Cinnaminson tradition, and even though I no longer live there, I like to uphold the tradition. As a kid, the excitement for the end of the school year grew even more as bits of our outdoor recess area was slowly taken over by the carnival structures. The carnival ultimately always fell during the last week of school, and the last day of school being the same as the always awesome«Kiddie Carnival,» which was a must-do for all! $ 10 wrist band, and all the rides you could stomach all afternoon! As an adult, I still come here, and now I have the added excuse of having Godchildren I can bring for rides and games. The food is, well, carnival food, so don’t expect anything gourmet here, but its the atmosphere and the tradition. My usual meals these days are just a piece of pizza and an ice cream waffle. My husband always gets the panzoratti — that booth always has a long line! Every night in the food tent is a different theme, usually some various ethnic cuisine. The games are your traditional carnival games — place a quarter on your number as they spin the wheel, and win a stuffed animal, although, when I was a kid, I remember there being more variety in prizes. I can’t go on any real rides any more, as my stomach does not approve, but I the kids obviously still enjoy it. My Godchildren went on the Marry-Go-Round and another kiddy ride this year, as they are only ages 3 and 1. The other main attraction for adults is, of course, the Beer Garden. Now, honestly, I’ve never stepped foot in the Beer Garden, but from what I understand, it’s a great place for school reunions. I always enjoy making a trip to the Carnival every year. It’s a tradition for me, and I usually bump into an old classmate or teacher, and enjoy catching up. There are other aspects of the carnival that I don’t really participate in, such as the drawings/raffles, 50/50, and games, and probably other stuff I don’t even know about, but for me, it’s a life long tradition I love to uphold. And now with the Godchildren, I have a great reason to keep going back every year.
