History
Established in 2002.
More than forty years ago, math educator Larry Martinek was inspired to find a better way to teach children math. Larry’s innovations gained wide circulation over the years and Los Angeles schools began teaching from his materials instead of their textbooks. The result: Test scores skyrocketed. His work evolved into a complete curriculum from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade math.
Then, in the spring of 2002, education industry leaders Peter Markovitz and David Ullendorff made Larry and his curriculum the driving force of Mathnasium. Larry introduced his teaching methodologies as the Mathnasium Method™ at their first math learning center in Westwood, California.
Today, more than 40 years after Larry first developed it, the Mathnasium Method™ is providing children all over the world increased confidence, critical thinking skills, and mathematical ability to last a lifetime.
Our Cinnaminson, NJ location has been helping students in our area since 2014.
Meet the Business Owner
Sarah S.
Business Owner
Sarah graduated from Saint Joseph’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting. After college she went to work for the fifth largest public accounting firm where she led small teams to develop, plan and execute year end and quarterly financial statement audits. While working in the public sector, an opportunity arose for Sarah to work in accounting for an insurance company in New York City. Transitioning from public accounting to the private world, along with a smaller office, gave her exposure to all angles of operations. Although she has enjoyed the field, she realized something was missing. In August 2013, Sarah discovered Mathnasium. She was immediately captured by the Mathnasium Method and the notion of teaching kids math in a way that makes sense to them. Through her experiences, Sarah truly believes that a positive attitude towards math can greatly boost a child’s confidence, love for school and overall reception to learning.
