Wardway was born on July 1, 1981.

Tom Ward purchased the business from the fuel oil and propane company he worked at for 22 years — Schaeperklaus Fuels.

Since then, as a result of the hard work put forth by Tom and his wife Marilyn, Wardway’s primary fuel operation has grown and diversified to include complete propane service, racing gasoline, Sunoco Race Gas, methanol, nitrous oxide, CO2, and helium. After Tom’s sudden death in January 1988, the family business carried on and continued to grow under Marilyn, sons Gary and Kevin, and daughter Diana. During that time Wardway’s Grill and Pool Shop opened with expanded product and service offerings. Marilyn retired in 2002, and today the company is led by Kevin, Gary, and Diana.
