Working with an architect or designer, our in-​store team will personally develop your lighting plan and offer suggestions for your project.

History

Established in 2008.

Noted lighting designer Drew Dearwester and entrepreneur Bertie Ray III teamed up to bring fresh modern lighting and stylish lifestyle options to Cincinnati’s urban market. Their concept took off and has become the regions’ hottest source for modern architectural lighting and interior design. A prime source for architects and interior designers, consumers find Switch comfortable, uncluttered and the «anti-​lighting store.» It’s sleek modern décor and knowledgeable staff take «buying some light fixtures» to another level: «Inspired shopping for inspired living.» The Switch philosophy is manifest in renovations, new construction, townhouses, lofts and estates from San Fransisco to New York City. Business Owner

Drew Dearwester and Bertie Ray III opened Switch in 2008 on historic Vine Street in downtown Cincinnati. They now serve personal and commercial clients throughout the region and from New York City to San Francisco. They also enjoy daily conversations, sometimes heated, about their shared passion: fine modern lighting.

Drew’s remarkable sense of style and expert knowledge of lighting, developed over two decades in the business, will bring surprising and pleasing new ideas to your home or commercial project. Drew was born in Cincinnati in the years just before the Big Red Machine.

Bertie, a businessman and entrepreneur, thrives on bringing the big idea to life. His career as the Man Who Gets Things Done has taken him up the East Coast, through long years in Manhattan, and now to Cincinnati with his lovely wife and daughter. A graduate of NYU, Bertie is active in numerous philanthropic and cultural arts endeavors, including the board of the Cincinnati Opera.
