The Madeira Branch Library was constructed in 1965 and its architect won an award for its design, which should not come as a surprise to anyone who has been there. The library was remodeled in 1993, then known as the Madeira-Indian Hill-Kenwood Regional branch, but the interior still looks very new when you walk through the sliding glass doors to enter into the library. The Madeira library is very conveniently set up. When you enter through the sliding doors and pass the restrooms, you are standing right across from the desk. On your left, right, and between you and the desk are shelves of new adult books(not those kind of adult books), a section for holds, and seasonal books. For those who want to stay longer, there is a large kids section on the left wing of the library with tons of books, as well as music and videos, and a story pit(and a few toys). On the right side of the library there is a room filled with DVDs and videos, easy to browse through. There are also some computers, most of which were in use when I was there, a lot more books and some tables and chairs, and a «Teen Scene» section with books for teenagers and a pair of couches on which to read. I really like the Madeira Library because of its unique exterior, but it’s really great and clean and lively on the inside too, making a trip to the branch enjoyable. I walked in just before noon on a Monday and the library was very crowded, showing that I’m not the only one who really likes it. If you’re ever in the area or can’t the find the book you want at your neighborhood library, I highly suggest driving over to the Madeira Branch Library.
