Sometimes I don’t feel like cooking, and I don’t want to eat out either. So what to do? Take out! I tried Garnish Catering’s Dinners To Go recently and I’m pretty pleased with the result. Each night Tues-Fri, there are 2 dinner options to choose from, each served with a vegetable and a starch. The prices vary depending on the dish, but they range from $ 9-$ 12 per person. The night that I got take out the dish was Chicken Fajitas priced at $ 11 per person. There was a ton of food! I would say that 1 serving would actually feed 2 people. We had lots of left overs. The salad was awesome. Fresh field greens with jicama, red onion, avocado and a tasty pomegranate vinaigrette. The starch was a black bean and rice dish that was chock full of vegetables(corn, carrots, green pepper) and the fajitas came with tortillas, salsa, sour cream, guacamole(a chunky, flavorful housemade guac). Overall, a very healthy and fresh-tasting meal. The only issues I had were that the chicken was almost completely raw, so I had to get a pan out and finish cooking it(so much for no dishes!). They did warn about this in the ‘reheating instructions’ but it was very, very raw. And I just felt wasteful with all the little plastic containers for guacamole, salad dressing, sour cream, salsa, tortillas, etc. Maybe this isn’t too common since fajitas is a accoutrement-intensive main dish. I actually had called ahead to place my order in the afternoon. When I asked about availability, they said that most nights they sell out, so always be sure to call ahead. I found out that if I subscribe to their email distribution list, they’ll send each week’s menus out for planning purposes.
