History

Established in 1945.

CEI was founded in 1945 by Morris Osher, M.D., whose son, Robert H. Osher, M.D., helped grow the practice into a world-​class center of ophthalmic excellence. Today, a board of directors composed of nine physicians and executive administration governs CEI. The renowned physicians at Cincinnati Eye Institute are internationally known as pioneers in their respective fields for their leadership and contributions to the advancement of eye care. They were the first to introduce many state-​of-​the-​art surgical procedures and techniques nationally and in the tri-​state area. Over the years many local and international honors have been bestowed upon the ophthalmic experts at CEI including listings in Best Doctors in America and Cincinnati Magazine’s Top Docs. Their many accomplishments have set the standard for improving the vision of thousands of patients around the world.
