I was excited to get a Groupon for a haircut from Eric after my mom got «the best hair-​cut in my life» from him. I told him:
1) I love the curl and volume of my hair and want to keep that
2) I want the length to be around my jawline
3) No bangs
What I got was something I less-​than-​lovingly referred to as the «Arya Stark». Technically if my hair was sopping wet, it reached my jawbone, so maybe I should have been clearer on that front, though I assumed he would know that curly hair shrinks when it’s dry. I’ll chalk that up to a miscommunication, but what was disappointing was leaving with a haircut that was flat (no volume) and straight (I’m all for curl-​power!) and an uneven part. Luckily he remembered I didn’t want bangs!
While this wasn’t the haircut I intended, it still was a nice haircut, and is growing into what I wanted. Make sure you are super specific on what you want and factor in any hair shrinkage when determining length.
The atmosphere was relaxing and Eric was pleasant and got me water and some magazines, so extra points there.

I purchased a Groupon for cut and highlight with the salons newer stylist Eric. I can not get over my how amazing my hair looks and feels! Eric may be new to this salon, but it’s obvious he knows what he’s doing! I’ve had my hair highlighted multiple times in the past year, and so it was an array of colors from other not so knowledgeable stylists. He took the time to really fix my hair, which shows how passionate he is since I had a groupon and he could have easily thrown a few strands of highlights in my hair and called it a day. He was friendly, funny and extremely charming as well! I plan on going back to see him for sure! The only negative is the parking situation, but I can deal after the amazing scalp massage he gave when rinsing out my color.

I have been going to this salon for almost a year now. I was a little nervous the first time because I thought it would be a stuffy place but I was pleasantly surprised. The salon is very clean and welcoming and the staff is nice and friendly. I made an appointment with Eric and I was extremely satisfied when I left. He has cut my hair 3 times, first one was just a trim, second one he took off about 8 inches and the last time he have me bangs. I loved my hair each time and received many compliments. Eric is very talented and knows exactly what to do when I give him an idea of what I want.
I’m happy I finally found a stylist who does a great job every time.

I need to preface all my hair salon reviews with the following disclaimer: I’m a fairly simple and easy client when it comes to hair. Generally, it’s a trim with layers or cutting off hair for donation to a medium/​short bob with layers. With that precursor, I had a great experience with Eric at Christopher Marcus Salon and the staff there. Everyone is very friendly and I can tell that all the stylists, staff, and clients really enjoy each other and have a great relationship. Eric was very engaging and fun, and did a great job with my hair. The salon is clean and spacious, with high ceilings and comfy chairs in the front waiting area. I had a Groupon this visit, and the general cut price for women’s hair is possibly on the high end for me, but since I really only get my hair cut about once a year, I can see myself going back for a nice, relaxing experience, especially since I know it’ll be done right.

Normally, I go to places like Great Clips for haircuts because of bad experiences at upscale salons. But this time, I had a Groupon for a keratin treatment with Eric.
I went in with very sleek, straight hair that I was honestly getting a bit bored with. So, I let Eric tempt me into getting the ends of my hair curled. This is because I thought they were going to be loose, sexy curls. Also, he is a French hairdresser who supposedly has years of experience. Not to worry, right? BUT NO, oh no. First of all, Eric was pretty rough with my hair. When he washed it, the water was hot and burned my scalp. When he dried it with a round brush, my scalp got burnt repeatedly once again. «Sorry, I know,» he apologized, as he continued to burn it. Worst of all, when he was done, my hair was HUGE in a bad way. The top half was rounded and poofy, and the bottom was even more of a poof. At that moment, I reminded myself of the Lion King. «Your hair looks like bunches of grapes!» he exclaimed proudly. Ummm… hooray?
The guy at the front desk was barely able to suppress a grimace as he basically whispered, «Nicee.e.e…» Eric embarrassed the crap out of me, as he proceeded to go on and on about how I would be a great model for the salon’s 2014 spring poster or something crazy. I just wanted him to stop so that I could shield myself from the public eye and run my fingers through my hair millions of times. Fortunately for me, this did the trick, and it loosened up the curls quite a bit so that they looked presentable. My hair actually started to look kind of nice! Also, I did end up with less frizzy hair, which was the point of my keratin treatment. But the thing is, I expect to walk OUT of the salon looking good, not to have to do damage control afterwards.
Hokay, so now I feel guilty. The above reads like a 1 – 2 star review. But despite the sub-​par styling job, everyone was friendly and overall customer service was great. The guy at the front fed my meter over the 2 hrs I was there. Eric offered water and magazines while I waited for the keratin to set in. And ultimately, I got what I came for — non-​frizzy, more manageable hair.

Let me start by saying it’s hard to find a good stylist at a good salon in Cincinnati! I liked the salon, it’s super nice without being icky and gross and commercial like the big name places that EVERYONE goes to for the exact same hairstyle in the ‘burbs. And Gary is by far the best stylist I’ve ever been to, I swear that man can read minds, and he doesn’t get judgy when you say that you don’t like to fix your hair. AND, he knows how to cut curly hair! I have gotten so many compliments on my hair. I can seriously go to bed with wet hair and wake up and it looks awesome. I love Gary! Seriously, go there, you won’t be disappointed, he’s a magician!

It is in the heart of Hyde park square. mark and Carrie are great stylists. It is very modern looking with a friendly staff

Christopher Marcus is a wonderful upscale salon. The space is modern, open and clean. The staff is friendly and talented. Carrie is an amazing colorist. Gary is a top notch stylist.

christopher marcus salon has a great décor and friendly staff, who are always ready to make you look your best. Mark is my favorite stylist but they all do great work.
