History

Established in 2003.

Celtic Corner opened in Feb 2003 by Lenora Gilmour, Louise Reid & Robert Reid. Robert is married to Louise and has been a bagpiper since 1996. Louise is Lenora’s daughter & a Highland Dancing judge & instructor. Lenora has been a kiltmaker for over 20 years and has been sewing much longer. In this short time, the small family run business has grown dramatically.

Lenora and Louise were both born in Glasgow, Scotland and came to America in 1984. After overcoming many obstacles, Lenora opened a dance studio and dance supply shop in 1991. Shortly thereafter, the studio was able to offer Scottish Highland dance lessons, the only place these lessons were available at the time in Cincinnati. With growing interest in this art form, Lenora took her sewing skills and dove into Kiltmaking so the dancers could get costumes at a reasonable price. With growing interest in the area, it was decided in 2002 to expand and open a store dedicated to Celtic products.
