Epic selection! From hardcore super-crunchy strategy all the way to family/party games, and everything in between, Boardwalk has you covered. Couldn’t ask for a better little shop with deep library of every obscure game my little nerd heart desires.(They are also a great model shop, but that’s not really my thing.) Boardwalk does not host games or provide game space. And I do not believe they have any Warhammer type games. If you are looking for game space this just isn’t your place. But the coffee shop across the street would love to have you sit down all day and play out your purchase. ;)

This is my local go to hobby shop for tank and plane models. They have a great selection. Paint supplies are more than adequate. Owners are nice and friendly. Worth the visit, as well as return visits!

Calling all model fans: this place is a gem! A modest size hobby shop with more than enough old and new to satisfy both beginners and experienced model enthusiasts. They have everything from airplanes to model t’s, castles, and more! They also have a huge selection of paints, brushes, and even stuff like fake grass & scenery. They also have a huge selection of puzzles. And not puzzles like you find at Target, this place has 3D puzzles, old school puzzles, and everything in between. I love the fact that they carry really unique board games too. I am a self proclaimed board game nerd, and there are a ton here that I have never seen or heard of. This place is truly one of a kind. If you are interested in this kind of stuff, or just walking by stop in and check this place out!

This is such a fantastic place — I was worried that I was going to spend my entire savings account at once! Wide selection of board games, and a friendly, helpful staff. I’ll be coming back again soon, and often!

Wow, how had I never moseyed into Boardwalk Hobby Shop until this past week? After playing Bananagrams at a friend’s house recently, I decided I needed to get the game for myself. My friend told me Boardwalk would probably carry it, and they did indeed. And here I was, about to order it online! I had to get myself in and out of this place quickly, because I could have potentially spent a pretty penny. There was such a huge variety of games, puzzles, card games, and other hobby-related things. I could have spent an hour or more just reading the descriptions of games I’d never heard of. Not to mention that the price-point was comparable to stores like Walmart or Toys-R-Us. If I am ever in need of another board game or just want to add to my current collection, I will be heading back to this local shop.

What a fun place to visit– this place has every board game you can imagine and more. I love board games, and it has an amazing selection. There are also model airplanes and cars. We found the perfect vintage comic book from the 70s to give to a friend– it made us laugh out loud, and it’s even difficult finding information on Google about this comic. In any case, this place is worth a browse if you want to feel nostalgic, or if you want to find fun things from before your time.

Another great Mt. Lookout shop. Any board game you could ever want and about a hundred you’ve never heard of. Lots of model airplanes and cars. A number of vintage items that will make you nostalgic for a time you never actually lived through. The guys who own this place(I think they might be brothers) are awesome. They may seem distant or even a little backward at first, but they’re very helpful if you ask them. They’re soft-spoken and attentive and you can tell that this place means something to them. In this way, it’s kind of like the Sistine Chapel of hobby shops. The next time you’re at Zip’s, go next door and browse.

I’ve been a customer for over 25 years. Prolly shopped and purchased something from every aisle, depending on what i was into be it role play and board games, minatures, every type of reference books and most recently model airplanes. In an era when most of the good hobby shops have relocated to the internet, Boardwalk is a welcome retreat. You never know what resonably priced vintage model kits might end up on the shelves. It is impulse buy nirvana. They’re a little high on they’re supplies and paint prices, but they have everything and will order what they don’t. The staff is helpful but unobtrusive. The know a great deal, but thankfully, you have to ask and are not bombarded by over bearing busy bodyness. The best our city has to offer.

Having not been to a real hobby shop since I was a little kid, I was really excited to check out Boardwalk Hobby Shop in Mt. Lookout and upon entering the store, I was instantly impressed with the number of games that this store has crammed into it. Not only does Boardwalk Hobby Shop carry the big name games you would expect it too, they also carry a ton of games, ranging from trivia to world dominance, that you have never even heard of. In addition, they also carry a selection of used vintage board games, many of which are related to WWII in some way. However, a hobby shop would hardly be a hobby shop if it all carried were board games. Boardwalk Hobby Shop also carries a number of different models, including cars, army vehicles, assorted figurines, and card games. Honestly, the only thing that keeps me from giving Boardwalk Hobby Shop a five star review is that I felt they were lacking in poker sets and the like as well as card games such as Magic the Gathering or even Dungeons and Dragons books. Personally, I don’t really play any of these too often, if ever, but it seems like something a store like this would benefit from carrying. However, if you are interested in interesting and off the wall board games, I would definitely give Boardwalk Hobby Shop a try.

Good selection of board games and model kits. The service is ok, although I always feel like Im intruding on them. there is also a minimum $ 10 purchase if you use plastic. Not a fan of that policy.

Boardwalk has every kind of board game you could ever want. Every version, every expansion, and every space-themed remix-spinoff that came out ten years after. I saw stuff in there that would entertain any age, and every taste of board gamer you could shake a stick at. Unfortunately, not much else is left once you’ve gotten your fill of all the board games. A few models and other hobby accessories fill the remaining corners and shelves, and dice behind the counter like an afterthought. Like most hobby shops, this place certainly has a theme. You’re not going to find much depth at card games like MTG or model kits for 40k, but you are going to get friendly and non-pushy service. On top of that a cute little store in friendly area, and a unbelievable selection of Catan expansions.

Another great Mt. Lookout Square business is Boardwalk Hobby Shop, right next door to Zip’s Café and across the street from United Dairy Farmers. Up until my recent trip to Mt. Lookout Square I had only walked by the store, but I had done so several times. Each of those times I did pass by different board games caught my eye, a testament to the numerous board games in the Delta Avenue store. I went in the other day and in addition to the numerous board games(including both classics and some new/different ones), they specialize in and have a lot of model kits and supplies(including paints and books/magazines). They also have«vintage toys and games» including old and rare plastic model kits. Boardwalk has a number of role-playing and strategy games too including Civil War and Alamo games. I believe Boardwalk Hobby Shop is about 35 years old and it’s definitely a great place to find a gift. If you want Yahtzee, Scrabble, or other favorites you can get them there or at probably any other toy store in town, but if you’re looking for more original and lesser known games and model kits, then Boardwalk is your store. Head down to Mt. Lookout and find a «park(ing) place,» and then stop into Boardwalk.

Cool store! My boyfriend was drawn in due to the display of model car and truck packages in the window, while I was enticed by the advertisement of board games. He went directly to the back where he and the owner’s young son stood and gazed at the models that had already been meticulously put together, the little boy talked his ear off about each one. While this was happening, I wandered around the perimeter of the store and was surprised to find every board game one could ever want. I found quite a few games I had never even heard of(The Law School Game, anyone?) as well as new takes on classic favorites(make your own Monopoly looked fun). The store also features a number of Trivia games that looked like they would be a great deal of fun for a night in. I also found my favorite childhood card game, Horse Show. Not many places carry it! This would be a great place to find a unique birthday gift.

At some point I got an urge to play board games. And not brainless dice rollers like Monopoly, but cortex-confounders like Settlers of Catan. Despite my high-minded aims, I knew nothing about the world I sought. So I took a stroll to the Board Walk in hopes that someone there could open doors to a new cognitive pursuit. I was a little disappointed to see mostly model trains and planes and automobiles at first, thinking this was more a physical hobby shop than a cerebral treasure. And then I found the copious selection of games. My neurons were blown, so I asked for some suggestions, walked out with some games that overworked my brain even more, and have been sufficiently mentally challenged ever since.
