History
Established in 1973.
Founded as a jazz club venue in 1973 by Paul and Marjean Wisby, the Blue Wisp has hosted a continuous stream of national and local jazz talent for nearly 40 years.
Moves over the decades — from O’Bryonville to various locations in downtown Cincinnati, and finally to its current home at 7th and Race Streets — haven’t kept The Wisp from being both an incubator for upcoming musicians and a required booking for the brightest stars of the jazz universe. Decades of featuring local musicians, including legends Jimmy McGary, John Van Ohlen, Pat Kelly, Michael Scharff, Steve Schmidt, Cal Collins, and Kenny Poole, to name just a few, give The Wisp a deep and dear foothold in the hearts of jazz afficiandos.
Located in Cincinnati’s newly invigorated and increasingly prosperous downtown, The Wisp has survived and thrived due to the leadership of its new owners, Ed Felson and Jack Brand, who in May 2013 updated the club to better serve fine diners looking for an evening of live music in a club a
