Used to love coming to belterra… not only did they get rid of my favorite $ 1 slots of wheel of fortune… but they also got rid of ALL of them even the quarter ones. But now the payouts have been non existent at all te machines… they just lost a major player

Updating my review from last year. Attended a concert same as last year only this time my wife and I were welcomed with open arms. It could not have been more opposite of my experience last year. The food at the stadium grill was excellent and the services was even better (Charlie was my server)! Played slots while we waited for our table. It is a nice addition to the Riverbend experience, walk to the Casino after the show have a nice dinner while you wait for the parking lot to clear out. Maybe gamble a little if you don’t spend all of your money on beer. I am the first to admit when an opinion of mine is wrong or changed, Belterra Park has my business back with my last visit. Oh and loose slots too!!! Thank you to the folks at BP for a great evening.

I spent the afternoon today at ‘River Downs’ (OK, Belterra). This was my first trip to this track in a VERY long time. The overall experience was very positive. I’m no expert handicapper, but win or lose, I simply enjoy live racing. I was pleased with the accessibility to the track and the paddock area. Also, throughout the facility, the staff was friendly and welcoming. The ‘vibe’ of the whole place was good and the patrons were nice enough folks. Will I go again? Yes. Would I invite my friends? Yes. Would I recommend to my friends an afternoon of live racing at River Downs/​Belterra? Yes, definitely.

My mother-​in-​law wanted to go to the races for Mother’s Day, so despite the cold weather and pouring rain, we went. I wasn’t surprised that the races still went on in very rainy, muddy conditions, but it took two separate races where two horses fell and their jockeys were injured, one so badly that he was taken off the course on a stretcher, before they shut the races down for the day. And they kept replaying the video of the horses falling down. Great stuff to watch with all the youngsters there for Mother’s Day.
The casino was what you would expect from a racino: only slot machines, no table games.
The «security» getting into the casino was the worst. There were 2 two lanes when entering the gaming area, one labeled «over 30» and the other labeled «over 21» with a long line of young-​looking folks. My husband and in-​laws strolled through the «over 30» lane without even getting carded. As my sister-​in-​law and I were walking through, the «security» guard told us to get in the other lane, even after we told him we were both in our 30’s and showed him our ID’s. He said «that’s nice» and actually lightly pushed us over to the other lane! Whoa dude! You’re «security» at a racetrack casino, not Secret Service! Then, as my sister-​in-​law & I were talking amongst ourselves about how we were in disbelief that he shoo’ed us over to the other lane, the «security» guard continuously interrupted our conversation to make rude, condescending comments. Extremely unprofessional!
However, I gave Belterra 2 stars because the casino cashiers and buffet servers were very friendly, warm, and professional. We signed up for Belterra’s players card, which got us a free buffet dinner. The cashier who signed us up was so nice and efficient. The buffet exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious, our server kept our drinks full and constantly checked to see if our food tasted good, and the dessert selection is outrageous.

I’m not sure what the issue is with the racinos such as the Belterra Park, but their slots are extremely tight. My wife and I have visited three times within the past two months and have left all three times a loser. This would be acceptable if we came to spend a hundred or so, but each visit we spent in excess of 300 dollars. I’ll save my money for the next Vegas trip. Beware of the buffet, the selection is limited and the food is typically dried out as if it had been sitting out for a while.

Belterra has a special going on for January. You sign up for their free my card and you receive a free Buffett. Great deal! Went there on a Saturday night for my free prime rib special and was very pleasantly surprised at their absolutely terrific array of assorted food choices.
The dessert offerings were fantastic.
I will return and am very willing to pay for the Buffett the next time.

Took good friend for his birthday to the casino. Went to the buffet and had dinner. My friend is struggling with cancer and only eats certain foods. He wanted shrimp but couldn’t find what he wanted. He spoke to one of the chefs named Jeremy, and a short time later he brought a bowl of cooked shrimp to our table. This act of kindness was much appreciated and we certainly will be back. I just want to thank Belterra and everyone involved for this great experience. Thanks !

I’d love to give an overall review, however due to this Casinos Managements inability to find semi-​qualified door Staff my review will have to stop at the front entry. The parking lot was very clean. The escalator ride up was fun. The 10 – 20 steps we took to front entry stand where clean and it’s view of the Casino appeared as thou it was a fun place. The door Staff however is racist and comes self equipped with chipped shoulders. When a Patron shows you a State issued ID your unfamiliar with, call a Manager. Just because I’m white and a Member of your Grandsons generation does not mean I have a vendetta against you. The two black couples you where smiling and asked how there day was while mid-​conversation with me, even thou they where obviously younger then me, let me know what this was really about. It worked out in your favor thou, it turns out the People I told at work about your blatant disregard and Managements subsequent failure to follow up, wont be coming to your kiosk anytime soon. Truly a shame. We had 2 couples we where planning on Spending a weekend at the Belterra Indiana Casino with, but the one Visit to the Riverbend location convinced us to just do MVG Monroe instead. Saved the 6 of us quite a bit of money, for that I thank you.
Pros– they employ people who need jobs, they pay taxes
Cons– not safe for whites to frequent-​racist security personnel, poorly trained staff, «State issued ID» has a different interpretation-​some exclusions will apply,
***After further reading, I’d like to point out that Management has responded to 1 of the 24 reviews. Given I just sent mine, we’ll call it 1 in 23. Imagine working at a place where every year they took a paycheck. No explanation, just whooph, 10 work days gone. That’s almost identical to this business Customer interaction rate. I’ve had business I’ve given 5 Stars address me on areas they’re working to improve, this place can’t even get a Person to semi-​consistently respond on arguably, the internets best review site. If I was a shareholder, I’d be outraged. Reading thru the reviews, these arent Guests with hurt feelings. These Guests have legitimate complaints and this Organization wont send a single Person to respond. As much grief as Politicians get for being crooked sleazeballs, at least they have the courage to send out a form letter acknowledging a Voters concern or comments. I’ve never wanted to make a second Unilocal just to 1 star a business twice until tonight.***

I have long been a fan of River Downs mostly for the people watching and I’m happy to report that has not changed they’re just in a nicer surroundings!
I’ve only walked through the slots areas to get to the horse racing area. The weather was gross so we paid to sit in the tables in what I believe was called the River Downs room.
I like that they have places to eat and you don’t have to be there gambling to enjoy them. This year they did a good job of bringing bands to add to the entertainment.
If slots, horse racing, food and music aren’t your thing, this wont appeal to you.

This is a small track with low level racing. The casino appears to be the big draw, with throngs of people betting and milling around. Last year, I joined friends who had a horse running. We had lunch in the Stadium Grill. It’s a good-​sized restaurant and bar with sports memorabilia covering the walls. I had the green chile burger. While not likely traditional Hatch chiles, as they were not in season, this was a huge burger, perfectly cooked to my medium rare, and an excellent choice. I opted for the fries as my side. On my second visit yesterday I went to support my Old Friends Equine organization in Georgetown, and we had lunch in the Grill. This time, I had the pulled pork sandwich with Stadium lager BBQ sauce and spicy cheddar sauce, both served on the side, which enabled me to use as much or as little as I preferred, and a cool, crisp coleslaw on the side. The tender meat was piled high on a wonderful quality, toasted bun. Everything is very well presented on the plate, which I always appreciate from a restaurant. Most notable, everything is cooked on site, including the desserts in a separate baking kitchen, as well as the homemade gelato. Impressive. (Maybe the food is deserving of 4-​Stars, considering all of this.)
While I would not frequent Belterra on a regular basis, and only went for special circumstances, if you live in the area and you’re a casino-​ite, then you’ll probably like this place. If you want top-​notch racing, you’ll have to go to Keeneland.

Been meaning to update this review for awhile. Since my first review, we have come here twice with the intention of staying all day and betting on all the races, and twice we have left early in the day because there aren’t enough betting windows. A shame, because we love horse racing and always come prepared to drop a decent chunk of change on the day’s races. But I don’t know if we will come back at this point. What good is a horse track with ¹⁄₃ of the windows it needs to handle the wagering volume?

Wow! You’ll hardly recognize River Downs… it’s a casino (with only slots, but 1,000’s of them) attached to a horse track. Much fancier than I was imagining. Not a very diverse crowd. The exterior patios had a lovely view of the track, but were so smoke filled that standing out there as a non-​smoker was awful. In a pinch, if you need to bet the ponys while playing slots, it’ll work.

I don’t know what place people are reviewing. This is an Ohio racino. There is no smoking inside so don’t know why people say it is smoky.
The buffet is excellent. We sometimes go there just to eat. The casino is clean and soft drinks are free at beverage stations. The race track is gorgeous. I’ve never had to wait long to place a bet. Enough time in between races to go into the casino, bet a few slots, grab a coke and out for the next race.
We love it!

What did they do to this place??? We have been coming here annually for years and years on derby day. Yes, River Down was no frills, but you have plenty of space and could get you bets in without a problem.
I got there 30 mins prior to the post of the first race and it was a 20 min line to place a bet. You can’t navigate anywhere because of the poor layout without running into lines. I left without placing any bets and will never return.
It was a sad day seeing how Belterra ruined this track. They have no idea how to manage a horse track.

My mom and I went to Bella Terra to check out the restaurants. It was a Sunday evening, so there were not a lot of people gambling; however I was still surprised to see so many people playing the slot machines. I am not normally a gambler, so I was not checking out the games, but I could tell that there were some specials going on during the holidays.
The real reason I went was to check out the buffet. I had heard great things and had been to other Bella Terra’s in the area, and wanted to see if this restaurant was just as good. There were many options food wise, but I was disappointed that the food did not look very fresh. Granted, it was a Sunday evening, so that might have made a difference. We did speak to the staff about that concern, and we were told that it is best to come to the buffet on a Friday or Saturday.
Overall, it was okay food, and I would definitely be interested in trying it again during their busy hours. The highlight of the trip-​and the best food-​was actually the dessert bar. They had about 12 different types of ice cream’s to try!

The casino is beautiful. All the slots you can imagine. The restaurants are beautiful. They have a kid friendly burger restaurant, which we haven’t tried yet. We went to the market buffet… omg, the food was fabulous! I haven’t tasted food that good for some time. Chinese, Indian, Italian, American and every dessert you can think of. The ice cream selections were my favorite dessert, but the others were amazing to look at. The set up it’s gorgeous. They made a beautiful fruit sculpture. I love this place and I can’t wait to go back. Hopefully in the near future my children can join me in the fabulous restaurant.
The horse racing is the main point of the place. I think racing takes place for days a week. I enjoy watching them race. I’m not much of a gambler. The new track is much better than the last one. This place is so close to my home and it’s a beautiful place to visit and eat!

I thought this would be a fun place to check out & it was rather disappointing. For one it doesn’t really tell you anywhere clear hours of anything & all the bars were closed way too early. I was looking forward to horse betting, was closed. I was looking forward to trying a new craft beer, nope! And the prices of drinks are stadium like. $ 5 for a basic bud light. Horrible.
Also we tried that Burger place which was also over priced for mediocre burgers. One was burnt & contemplated sending back. Left the Burger place disappointed & went on to lose money on slots. I didn’t hit once on any of these tight slots & I typically hit at least once in any casino I have ever been in my life. Only way I would go back is if I was mega rich & could bet on some horses which is why I came here in the first place. For OH gaming just go to Horseshoe, much better time & I have won 2x there.

Date and I, having spent most of the evening in the area, decided to check out the new Belterra Park Gaming & Entertainment Center, which is considered a «racino» (combined race track and casino) and has taken over what was once River Downs on Kellogg Avenue. Some thoughts:
— I had no idea what to expect, but I was disappointed that there weren’t at least some tables
— Wheel of Fortune (the 25¢ version) will always be the best slot machine
— The bar area is pretty nice and there was a live band to entertain all of the patrons
In short: if you want to sit at some tables and gamble with others, this is not your place. But if you like the sound of gambling (slot machines) partnered with live music, and casually having some drinks with friends with the option to play said slot machines, this is absolutely your place.
I think Belterra Park is a nice upgrade for River Downs, and I will make a point to go back when I can watch some horse racing. What would make the experience even better would be a few gaming tables.

Belterra park and gaming is located next to Riverbend Music/​Coney Island.
There are over 1500 games (latest themes and traditional favorites). ALL slots (starting from penny on up), no table games. All machines are ticket generated and can be redeem at self ticket redeem machine in the front or cashier cage. They offer rewards card, but I didn’t sign up for it. They were not offering a free play at the time. Such tight asses!
I’ve been to three gaming centers in Ohio and not impressed with any of them. Yes, these centers are open/​spacious, nicely decorated, clean, and smoke free but gaming is poor.
I just left a reviewed the Stadium Sports Bar and Grill. Was not impressed with that or this place.
My husband and I played the HEE HAW Slot. I don’t feel bad losing (only lost $ 10.00).
If I had to choose between Miami Gaming or this place, I guess I would choose Belterra since it is closest to home, but we just wanted to check this place out and compare. On a postive note, I do like the Belterra Park Racing (River Downs Racetrack).
I can’t speak for my husband, but I will not return. Trust me.

I was was at Belterra Park last night and while I thought the facility was absolutely amazing, my group and myself were treated rather rudely and completely disrespected by the General Manager of the Stadium Sports Bar. George Brown is completely unprofessional and has no sense of customer service. Not only did he call us liars (4 guests) and insinuate that we «fabricated» our story but also he tried to take our beer that we had paid for! To make matters worse when the bouncer offered to comp the beer George Brown quickly responded «I am not comping that, we do not comp anything»
For being only the second day that Belterra Park has been open for business I am really astonished and amazed that George Brown would treat paying customers so poorly. George Brown is an arrogant, classless, and egotistical man. His actions and terrible level of customer service are certainly not congruent with what I have come to expect form a Belterra property.
